I realize that Ridgeview is a few miles from Haysi and Clintwood but especially at playoff time in both towns every marquee and storefront window would have signs voicing support for the teams. It's just not there this year, one bank in Clintwood has a go Wolfpack sign, nothing in Haysi. Was that the case in other consolidated schools towns?

I want to say a big Congratulations to Ridgeview on the win last night. I will be honest and say I thought Gate City would win easily. With the injuries you guys have sustained this year.....that was pretty impressive!

Since I can't get an accurate score, I'm going to assume the score was GC 42 & RV 7 so that I can collect on the bet; bringing Gate City's record to 4-2 on the 2015 season.  (Only in a parallel universe is Gate City 0-6 and last in the Mountain District.)
  

I've read several, apparently fake, posts about the Gate City at Ridgeview final score.  I enjoy a good joke as much as the next SWVA football fan but could someone please post the actual real score of the game on the forum?  I need to settle a bet because I had the Devils winning by 35 while my friend had the Devils by 42 - then I started to worry that I should have went with 45 like my Gate City insider suggested. Just need clarification.

I will call it like I see it Coal Covered Rebel and I saw what I saw.  Seemed pretty obvious to me.  If you don't like to second guess coaching staffs then that's up to you but some of us may feel empowered and knowledgeable enough about football to do so.  Not saying our game plans would have worked better but seriously doubt it would've been any worse.  Alot of it is still about player execution....but when you decide to become a coach you open yourself up to being critiqued.  It's the nature of the business.  Coaches that don't like it should probably try a different career.  It's the same with officiating.  This is a spectator sport we're talking about...and this is a message board where people are expected to post thoughts and opinions.  I will say this though, the Essex game plan didn't bother me as bad as last year against Altavista watching a 2500 yard rusher get a total of 6 carries in a close game.  Sometimes being consistently good and solid is better than being occasionally amazing and dynamic.  Less is more.  Being a genius is great as long as you still know how to tie your shoe...etc.

They hauled in more bleachers last year. It wasn't a problem at all. I thought the field and bleachers were as good as any facilities that we visited. Other than the fact we lost, it was a great trip. The people were exceptionally nice, for the most part. I hope the thugs that stood in the end zone want be back this year, if you do make the trip. Good luck.
