I agree Tiger it is something else. Everyone sees the wing as just straight up the middle, shouldn't be hard to defend right? Wrong, there are some plays where 3 different people touch the ball. I love the inside reverse that they run and the pitch play, I think it's referred to as the buck lateral. Just a fun offense to watch

I figured they would have Gate City on their schedule as well. I'm friends with coach from Graham and he says that they would like to drop Giles and pick up a weaker opponent since they already have Richlands, Bluefield, and Abingdon.

Being a huge fan of high school football, I'm proud of all 6 of those teams. Only 1 can win it all but the other 5 should not be ashamed of the outcome. I doubt any division will ever be as deep as 2A West is this year. I dont have a high school team that I really pull for, I go to games all over the state. In 1A i would like to see GW or Radford win it all, but they have to go through Essex and Riverheads :( In 2A i would like to see Giles or Richlands win it all, but they have 4 great opponents on the West side to go through. Im a fan of all the west teams, but I just love watching Giles play, especially at their stadium. I was there last year when they played Lee and when I heard that train horn that they have it gave me cold chills. I could only imagine how it pumps up their players. And even though some call it boring, I love watching that single wing offense and no one else in the state does it better than them.

There is a chance that Union and Appo could end with the same amount of points. How do they do a tie breaker?

I agree. Everyone wants to take Glenvar out but playoffs are far more important. Rest Grant til 2nd round of playoffs

Radford definitely has a shot, but not if they put Finley under center and try running Grant. Glenvar's D line will shut the run game down. If they put Finley in shotgun and let him use his athletism then they might pull an upset. They will need to play all 4 quarters though, because Glenvar doesnt take a quarter off. I predict Glenvar 28. Radford 24

That was the problem with Giles. Theyre a power running team and you just can't run up the middle on Glenvar. Not sure how Glenvar will match up with a good team that does the spread. I don't see any team putting up big numbers against Glenvar though

I apologize if I came off as being negative, Glenvar just has not looked as impressive this year as last. But i did state that come playoff time they turn the switch on. Yes they have a stellar defense but have not faced a team with a good passing attack yet. No team will beat Glenvar by trying to pound it up the middle bc their d line is immaculate. Secondary I think needs some work. My hat is off to Glenvar for what they've accomplished last year and this year so far.

And he may be a great athlete. But it was his destructive choices in why he wasnt able to play against Giles, therefore, people cannot say that Giles had open recievers because our "All State Player" wasnt playing. This is just my opinion, I shouldnt get worked up over this....Giles and Glenvar both have good teams and maybe they will get the chance to meetup again having all players healthy. I do believe I heard someone say that Giles had a key starter out that played both ways so maybe they can settle it for good in the post season

I agree i would not send to my son to a school that has 10 championships in football but only a 50% passing rate in academics. You will not find that very often though in SWVA. You can be the next Michael Vick but if you cant count to 10 then you will end up flipping burgers

Well if one player makes that much of a difference then Glenvar is in trouble if they have to face Richlands. They have multiple receivers that are talented. #2 for Giles was open on almost every pass play but Glenvars d had so much pressure on the passer that he didnt have time to look around. Not downing the Highlanders but i notice so often on here that people like using the phrase "well our best defensive player was out" if you wanna win champoinships then you should other players that can step up. I still have Glenvar as 1 of my final 4s for right now because they really flip on the switch when playoffs come around.

Thats the thing about high school sports, upsets happen every week. Havent gotten to watch Union play this season besides a few plays on film but knowing that they put 42 on Richlands is quite impressive(even though youre not suppose to go by scores). Would be a huge point booster for Union if they can get the win.

I understand what you are saying and I didnt mean to do it just for football. I consider Richlands high school itself as a successful place that is sourrounded by a great community and yes if i had a son that was very talented and thought he was good enough to get a scholorship in football i would send him to Richlands over a school like Grundy. But thats just me.

If parents want to transfer their kids to a succesful school then so what? If i lived in the area i would definitely send my kids to Richlands. They have a great tradition going on over there, and I would want Mance to coach my son. The Tornado community in itself is just wonderful. Ive been through there a few times and have nothing bad to say about any of the people. So polite and respectful. I would put them with Giles as the most respected places i have been to in my years.

I don't know much about Letcher or I would've added that game to the list as well.

Glenvar has a good defense but I don't think they have the defensive backs to guard Richlands receivers. Giles was able to have success throwing on Glenvar and that's a team that might throw 2 passes a game

Best running back in the state? Have you not seen Harris from Galax or the running back from Graham? a 1 man show isnt good enough to beat GW, just ask Galax, imo they have the best 1A running back in the state.

He may not play. I did not realize the severity of a high ankle sprain. Hoping he can recover fast because he definitely is a difference maker

I wasn't a fan of the cross bracket but a year like this year im a fan of it. The 2 best teams should be at state and imo the 2 best are from the west.
