  1. Harris who transferred to Tazewell.... and did quite well, I might add. Taymon Cooke averaged nearly 30 yards a carry, he may have been capable, I would think.... He had a sprained ankle in the last game of the season, hated that for him. He didn't whine about it, played hurt and did the best he could.

Graham lost as many to transfer as they got....

Yes they did lose a couple. I recall someone saying Booker wouldnt have seen the field much at Graham anyway. From what ive seen he may have been their 2nd best WR if he was still there.

  2. In response to NaderFan: Being a Spartan I will admit that the Biedelman brothers were brought to Giles in 2014 in hopes of winning a championship. I worked with their dad at Volvo. Yes they are good athletes but are not program changing athletes. But look at the Giles state team in 2013 or 2005 and see how many transfers helped us win state. I cannot think of any. Graham nor Richlands can argue with each other this season about transfers because they both had athletes, especially Graham that changed the program. Graham has other talent besides Cousin, but lets face it, he gave them the spark they needed. And Richlands offense centered around Howie, just look at the stats. All schools have transfers somewhere down the line, so we cant bash Richlands, Graham, Giles, Appo, or anyone else.

Agreed and thats what i try to bring up to people. Its just funny the guys that were bringing up transfers had them too.

  3. Exactly like him...I don't get on here and say he is a giles person from the start...dad married giles girl...but that's two brothers compared to your how many?

Ive never seen anyone from Richlands claim a transfer as their own. They are more open about them than any other team ive seen. I wouldnt think thats the only transfers Giles has had but i get what youre saying.

  4. I know Richlands had at least 5 O-Line transfers(recruits) this year. One was my cousin Andrew Dye. I know one boy came all they way from Elizabethton, Tn. I believe Booker came from Graham if I'm not mistaken. Who were the rest? My question is could Richlands actually compete without the best players from other schools? We'll say transferrs so won't make Richlands citizens mad. I would like to see what kind of talent that the boys that's raised and bred in Richlands have not kids from other schools. I work with a parent that had a kid on the team 2 yrs ago and this parent still volunteers his time to the team. I don't believe he lied to me but he said to make it legal usually one of the players befriends one of the players they want and brings him in shows them the weight room and the nice field and some reason maybe a coach may be in the facility and may say be nice to have you on the team cause we always contend for state and you'll get a lot of exposure to colleges. If the coach hisself approaches the kid it's illegal but if another kid does it's not. I dated the Johnson boy's aunt she told me all the things they were given to move from all the way from WV for them to play. There's probabaly a lot more schools that do this escpically in the communities with a lot of business owners, dr's and lawyers that have kids in the local school. I know 100% fact that one business owner I know personally was asked for money to put up money for the Johnson boys. It's not illegal until it's really looked into and caught.

    5 O-lineman? Dont think so.

  5. I've said I think you have a chance...a small one now that Howie is out and if the LB is out less of a shot

You need to be at 100% to beat them and you aren't..but you have a chance because you are playing saturday

    If the LB is out?

  6. Story I'm getting from the Draft side is that the 2nd penalty could have been questionable, but the kid's behavior in response to it was not. Apparently his resistance to leaving the field and then his behavior on the sideline after the ejection (kicking equipment and ranting) made a definite impression. Very regrettable because that part was completely avoidable and was probably the deciding factor.

Wow, very interesting. If the call was made incorrectly and shouldnt have been called, the rant doesnt happen. But looking at it from Howie's perspective, if he felt it was a bad call that got him ejected i can definately see the frustration. Not sure if looking at the sideline behavior after possibly a bad call is the right way to look at it. My opinion of course.

  7. Stuart's Draft denied it. For a successful appeal, both coaches and principals have to agree and then it's sent to the VHSL. If both principals agree, it's generally overturned. Someone has sour grapes. Oh well. We will put a gameplan in place and go play the game in front of us. I have faith in our coaches and kids.

Of course they would deny it. Probably without even looking at film. Would love to see the film on the second penalty.

  8. IMO the kid at Abingdon(sturgill?) is a better QB than Asbury,,,but just my opinion

Best dual threat QB i've ever seen in high school....and it's not close Vic Hall....kid was amazing

Best traditional QB i've seen is the McSorley kid at Penn State now....saw him at Briar Woods against Christiansburg in title game

I will have to think on this to see if I am missing someone(which I probably am) I've watched a lot of High School football over the years

I remember that Mcsorley kid. Never watched him play but thats when BW was really good. Had that Carter kid too that went to Stanford i believe. I recall seeing Harrisonburg and BW as i was leaving the 3a title game in 2010. Harrisonburg had some huge kids and BW looked really small. Was thinking Harrisonburg would destroy them. Wasnt the case.

  9. The schools in the classes pick where. But for 3 and 4, the VHSL pulled that title game for a non-football political reason. They didn't care what the schools say. They made their decision and pulled it.

Thats the equivalent of moving it to Bristol for the east teams.

  10. No, that was he VHSL taking it out of Lynchburg the same way the ACC took the title game out of Charlotte.

So only 1a and 2a are voted on? And by who? The schools or VHSL? The decision for W&M seems a bit mind boggling to me.

  11. It'd be great to have a 3 on Friday, 3 on Saturday set up in Lynchburg, Charlottesville or maybe JMU.

I inquired about this last year with one of the VHSL officials and he said that the 1A and 2A schools were against leaving Salem, so the vote could never pass.

So 3a and 4a agreed to move theirs across the state to W&M?

  12. I understand it was your opinion and respect it. Just felt i should comment on it and tell how i see it. However, saying the majority of his passes were lob passes is not an opinion but a false statement. As far as Sturgill goes i cant make the comparison. They are different QBs. But from the 5 or so times ive seen Sturgill he wasnt quite as accurate as JLA but of course, more mobile. Ive not watched high school ball for the last 20 years so ive not seen a lot. But hes the best true passer that ive seen. Just curious, who was the best qb youve seen?
