  1. I'm not sure about the Courthouse boys, but it was painfully obvious last night that the Courthouse girls are very weak. If Chatham is their best team, I'd hate to see the rest of the conference. Chatham has no business still playing. I honestly think that Lebanon, the CMC's worst team, could've beat Chatham. My question is, if Martinsville and Dan River wind up playing Saturday, will they even play at Wise? I won't be able to make it Friday, so I am hoping to get to see both teams play Saturday. It took 5 minutes after Ridgeview beat Floyd last night for the rumors to start that Floyd and Chatham would not be coming back to Wise on Saturday and that their third place game will be played somewhere closer to them.
  2. They secretly had the NBA Live Sega Genesis video game free throw meter from back in the day and never hit the 'A' button at the exact point in the crosshairs on the meter and consequently missed all their free throws.
  3. We must not forget that he supports UVa... so he is always walking around in a state of confusion anyway.... I kid UVAObserver, I kid.... :-)
  4. Lol! You have us confused with Union. They're the school with 73 different Twitter accounts, Lmao. Ridgeview only has like 3, and the one that matters is the only one who posts regularly and has almost 400 followers. ;-) To Union's credit, all 73 of those accounts tweet regularly. Lol.
  5. Actually, VCU is one of the quarterfinal sites as well. Quarterfinal sites: UVA-Wise Prior Center -- Wise Salem Civic Center -- Salem James Madison University -- Harrisonburg Robinson Secondary School -- Fairfax Siegel Center -- Richmond Old Dominion University -- Norfolk Looking at possible games to be held at the UVA-Wise site, winner of Honaker and Eastside boys as well as winner of Northwood and J. I. Burton girls will host there. If Ridgeview girls and Union girls win tonight, they will also play their quarterfinals there. So, four games at most is all that will be at Wise. edit: Forgot about Gate City and Graham. If they win, they will host at Wise too. Or would Graham choose Salem? So, definitely two games and as many as 5 or 6.
  6. Hey! What about Ridgeview's? ;-)
  7. Do it. You're hardcore enough. :-D
  8. Hope you all get the Ridgeview/Lebanon refs then! Lol. They pretty much let both teams away with aggravated assault. Lebanon player horse collared our big man Will Ratliff to the floor and there was no call! But, like I said, they let both teams away with some pretty rough stuff.
  9. Hope you're right. It kinda hurts we got grouped in the same side of the regional bracket because now one team will have a road trip for their quarterfinal (possibly a long one at that!). But, that's the way the bracket fell this year in the rotation.
  10. Updated 2A West Girls Bracket in OP. The big girl from Graham #40 was very tough on the inside. We played very lackluster at times tonight. Floyd County concerns me, especially after a 43 point win tonight.
  11. The regional quarterfinals this year take on an added factor of importance. You win your quarterfinal, you're automatically locked in to a state quarterfinal. So, you win tonight/tomorrow night, you're guaranteed at least three more games. I expect all of these quarterfinal games to be played with lots of intensity and everyone better bring their 'A' game.
  12. If you would have told me starting play tonight that both Central and Gate City would be the two CMC teams ending their season tonight, I would have died laughing. Never would have thought it. I know it was just girls playing at Ridgeview tonight, but the gym was a near sell out. Very impressed with the crowd tonight. I know Union and Gate City folks get grief on the board... but the WORST fans in the Mountain are by FAR Central. In football and tonight both, their fans both in person and on social media are all classless jerks. Ecstatic we ended their season. The Ridgeview boys team began doing Monmouth inspired celebrations in the stands tonight as the Lady Pack began to pull away. It was every bit as epic as you can imagine.
  13. Good to see many of my tweets making it onto the board tonight. Thanks trublue!
  14. The opening round rotates every year. Last year Crooked Road played Western Gate. So Haysi boys had to travel to Radford (not bad for me because I work in Abingdon and it was only a little over an hour drive from work) and Covington boys came to Honaker. Cumberland played Mountain West last year. Almost certainity that next year, Cumberland will play Crooked Road.
  15. Also, brought to my attention earlier this week and I'm sure I may have been the only goofball who didn't know this, but the state tournament is expanded to eight teams this season. Basically, if you win your opening round regional game you're in the state tournament somewhere. 1A and 2A state Bracket looks like this: East #4 at West #1 West #3 at East #2 West #4 at East #1 East #3 at West #2 So, I am assuming each regional tournament will also have a third place game to decide the 3 and 4 seeds from each region as well.
  16. Pretty much the fields for the 1A and 2A West regional tournaments are set with just a couple of spots left to be decided. I'm not entirely sure how the WHOLE bracket sets up, just the first rounds: 1A West Crooked Road #1 vs. Mountain West #2 Cumberland #1 vs. Western Gate #2 Moutain West #1 vs. Crooked Road #2 Western Gate #1 vs. Cumberland #2 2A West Clinch Mountain #1 vs. Southern Empire #2 River Run #1 vs. Courthouse #2 Courthouse #1 vs. River Run #2 Southern Empire #1 vs. Clinch Mountain #2 I know they normally tend to try to keep two teams from the same conference from meeting unless it's in the regional finals. With that said, here is the bracket for 1A and 2A West boys and girls: 1A West Boys: CR #1 Honaker 75 MW #2 Fort Chiswell 55 CC #1 Eastside 58 WG #2 Covington 51 MW #1 George Wythe 72 CR #2 Twin Valley 43 WG #1 Radford 72 CC #2 J. I. Burton 50 1A West Boys Semis: CR #1 Honaker vs. CC #1 Eastside MW #1 George Wythe vs. WG #1 Radford ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1A West Girls: CR #1 Northwood 52 MW #2 George Wythe 42 CC #1 J. I. Burton 48 WG #2 Radford 38 MW #1 Fort Chiswell 74 CR #2 Twin Valley 66 WG #1 Parry McCluer 79 CC #2 Eastside 53 1A West Girls Semis: CR #1 Northwood vs. CC #1 J. I. Burton MW #1 Fort Chiswell vs. WG #1 Parry McCluer ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2A West Boys: CM #1 Gate City 73 SE #2 Richlands 56 RR #1 Martinsville 92 CH #2 Appomattox 47 CH #1 Dan River 63 RR #2 Glenvar 44 SE #1 Graham 57 CM #2 Union 54 2A West Boys Semis: CM #1 Gate City vs. RR #1 Martinsville CH #1 Dan River vs. SE #1 Graham ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2A West Girls: CM #1 Ridgeview 68 SE #2 Graham 48 RR #1 Floyd County 78 CH #2 Dan River 35 CH #1 Chatham 31 RR #2 Glenvar 30 SE #1 Virginia High 51 CM #2 Union 56 2A West Girls Semis: CM #1 Ridgeview 64 RR #1 Floyd County 53 CH #1 Chatham 27 CM #2 Union 48 2A West Girls Finals: 3rd Place: RR #1 Floyd County vs. CH #1 Chatham Championship: CM #1 Ridgeview vs. CM #2 Union
  17. Ridgeview hosts Graham in the first round of Region 2A West girls next week! I'm stoked.
  18. Scores and updated brackets added to the main post.
  19. Congrats man. Bottom line, you guys wanted it, we didn't. That's all I can say. Can't win games when you're literally jacking and missing threes literally every time down the floor. Had big 6'8" Will Ratliff in the post and don't feed it inside to him any? Are you kidding me? Who is #20 for you guys? That was a massive one handed jam near the end of the first half, right down main street. Biggest Ridgeview ovation of the night came in the final seconds as seldom used but much loved Justin Gilbert came off the bench and nailed a VERY deep three to a raucous ovation. Almost brought a tear to my eye... was great to see.
  20. Ridgeview is destroyed by Battle tonight ending the boys season.
  21. Opening Post updated now with all tournament brackets and scores of games played through last night. :-)
  22. I've been really sick this week and might could actually use the snow day as bad as that sounds. Lol. The Ridgeview Battle game I would like to make it to. Even though I'm originally from Dickenson County, I live in Bristol now, so the Wolfpack coming out here actually helps me. Lol. But if I am still feeling this sick tomorrow, I'm probably not going and will just have to hope they win so I can go to Harry Fry Drive on Friday. As for predictions: If this were Vegas, the top four girls seeds are what you would call "locks" to be playing Friday. Anything beyond Friday is a crapshoot. Most likely Ridgeview will play Central for the fourth time this season and Gate City and Union will play in the other semi. If Central takes us for the third time, then I would almost expect Saturday's final to be relocated to Union (if Gate City wins) or to UVA-Wise (if Union wins.) Boys, the only possible "upset" would be Ridgeview beating Battle in the first round. Other than that, straightforward. Gate City and Union meet again Saturday, pretty much a lock. I use upset in quotes, because we should have been the third seed and have had a home game... Definitely going to be fun to watch, especially the girls semis Friday.
