I realize Bluefield is a long haul but why would you replace a team of Bluefield’s caliber with VA High? No offense intended toward the Bearcats. Bluefield & VA High are no where near the same level.
They lose everything on both sides of the ball. Including O'Quinn got to make that schedule a little easier for freshman
This is a complete tranvsy that Union didn't get at least 1 of those 25 coaches on the list. You would think at lest the get back coach..... but congrats to all the young men who earned it.
With all these states that are allowing NIL now for high school kids this could be more serious than previously joked about above! To the victor go the spoils!
Teams to watch for with NIL money would be Gate City they already get a good amount of kids from Tennessee. Then and your going to laugh at me but watch Lee High could get alot of kids from Union. And down towards Tennessee as well. Its like Jerry Mcguire Show Me the Money.....

I'm not trying to take down no league. Offer more football after that league is over. Don't know why both can't be done. Know your facts before speaking plus just because I speak what many say behind close doors doesn't mean I don't still pull for union. My own kid plays in that league and I've got two more that play other sports so you sir are just wrong but good try. I'm going to say maybe you should find someone else to hassle.
Get the family jobs in Kingsport, and he can come live in/near Gate City. 🤑🤑 Luke can slot in at halfback and be and experienced replacement for Fleming (though I think we got a good stable of RB guys that can step up as is). GC's gotta extend the shelf life of the QB position as best as possible -- and bringing in a rising junior would give us an extra year of talent under center than we're facing right now.
All depends on whether we got the wherewithal to get that done, and whether that family even would want to move that far from where they're at. But we definitely oughta be scouting...
(not to mention: We prolly need to be tryna get 2 or 3 O-line transfers, as well)

So you’re a guy who complains on here about Travis bringing in new guys and having too many on the sideline and you’re suggesting he fire all the coaches who have been there for a good while now, give the Defense to a relatively new guy and have 5 assistant coaches. Not to mention finding jobs for those assistant coaches he’s bringing in because all the ones he just fired are still going to be teaching in the building. I guess those decisions are why he’s the head coach and we are on here talking about what we would do.
Yeah I'm a guy who complains on here. Pretty sure thats my right to do so and my opinion only. Plus it ain't like they are getting let go as teachers and pretty sure most of them coach other sports as well. But it seems to me since this is your 1st topic and post to comment on. You must have ties to the coaching staff. Pretty sure you can get by with about 8 coaches on staff.
It is easy to say fire 20 or those coaches but which ones are you referring to and why? Also who is he going to bring in to replace them? At the end of the day there is a ton of experience on that staff and they have had sustained success for several years now.
It's easy to see who needs to go. Keep Calton, Kennedy and his own son Bailey and bring Joel Davis and Jerry Shuler back from twin springs. Give calton or Kennedy defense and watch it improve 100%. But hey these are just my opinions. But in big stone if you speak out or have opinions you get well let's just say not welcomed around no more.
In most counties, the head coach decides who his assistants will be & principal submits the list for board approval; does Coach Turner not have that same discretion?

2. James Mitchell - it’s james mitchell
3. Mason Polier - absolute tank on both sides
4. Tanner Kennedy - football genius pure stud LB
Hm: Lomax, Qualls, Spears, Jeb Stidham, Zirkle, Jay Gavin, Noaks, Fannon, Evan Duncan.
Apparently you must be new and on the coaching staff. There is no one in Unions short history that should go above James Mitchell. Started all 4 years 4 time all state and so on. Tanner Kennedy hands down 1 of the greatest lbs to ever step foot on bullet parks grass. Including the old lpd days. Would have loved to see him play and wear blue and gold. Bryce Spears in 1 year at qb had 35 tds and 2 picks. Pollier was just a beast off the edge his 1st 2 years and then then coaches screwed up and put him in the middle. Jeb stidum was by far a beast in the middle of that defense line and could take over a game by himself started all 4 years as well. Not saying bunch wasn't good but he doesn't even make top 10. I can name so many more from 2011 to 2015 to keep him possibly outside top 20.
The straight truth is one simple thing!!!!!! I’m not from Union or that area. I watched the game because I thought we would be playing Union and not Gate City. You have a defensive coordinator that don’t have a clue about high school football. The Defense line coach is a 2 time all American at a college level and played Pro football but yet he’s not even involved. Then I see a head coach from Thomas Joker playing his buddies son that shouldn’t be on the field getting smoked. All jokes aside we will crush Gate City and blessed not to play Union because pride got in the way. Union community open your eyes and see what you have. Certain coaches are toxic to your program. Head coaches don’t become assistant coaches for a reason. Go G Men!!!!!!!!
Been saying this for 2 years about DC plus Thomas walker and Rye Cove former HC's on staff. It will eventually cost Turner his job or he will leave for greener pastures. But you what to know who they run off not these bum coaches. They ran off 1 of their biggest supporters in UnionsHammer and the train horn crew. Because he hurt Edward's and Bostics feelings. I work with him and its a shame that dude never had anyone play and has more football knowledge in his little pinky toe then Edward's and Bostic have together. But anyways we will get ready to watch the crap show again in 10 months.
Boy I tell you 1 thing I heard leaving that hell hole of gate city yesterday was players and fans alike said we don't fear them no more that wasn't bears. They were bear cubs. Man o man have the bears falling off that bad time will tell I guess.
I did not watch the whole game, but based on what I saw, Union was like looking in the mirror at GC, down to running out of the T. It looked like they out-Unioned Union.
Yes this and being a former dog. We loved seeing a four man front against the t. And unions defense coordinator just won't adjust. And timeouts what are those. We burn thru them like cigarettes.
Head scratching in big stone is a understatement. The whole program needs an overhaul. 1st and 30 and you burn 2 timeouts plum pitiful coaching today. Union had 4 turnovers today and still had a shot at the win. Dont know what it's going to take to get over the hill. But I would start at getting rid of about 15 of those extra coaches.
I'm telling you if I was the coach and heard union was sick and I had home field we playing thurs or Fri. Not giving them time to heal. Do the samething for Graham or Ridgeview you got to look out after your team. Could come back to bit the devils in the butt.
Just got told that the entire team except 70 hall and 10 Anderson are now sick and yes alot of participating at practice yesterday. But that could have led to this recent break out.
