You’ve seen GW more than I have of course so I’ll take your word for it. They were bad the one time I saw them against Galax. The score of that game was as misleading as any game I’ve ever seen. If they play again, the outcome might be very different.
Galax, for the record, isn’t young. This is a junior/senior laden team with two sophomores that see playing time.
I'll definitely agree we played like trash against Galax that was by far our worst game this season. Against Radford and Graham we just got beat by better teams against Galax we beat us.
George Wythe is bad too but they spotted Galax 21 points in turnovers in the first 10 minutes of the game.
GW isn't bad we are extremely young with allot of new skills players and lineman. GW is absolutely loaded at the skills but we have to give them time to develop once this team comes together completely and plays as one we'll be just fine. So imo to say we're bad is misleading and to a degree some might consider us bad by GW standards but it's looking like another winning record. That's 24 years in a row and counting not many programs can say that. Maybe zero can in VA idk but it's an accomplishment by any standards. So bad to some maybe but I'd say we're just younger than usual.
GW beat GW that night we fumbled it twice inside our own 20 to start the game and Galax scored on the next play both times. That put us down by 14 before we started the game then e gave up 2 home run passes on the same play. TE right over the middle and GW doesn't use a high safety so the TE was allowed to run free. I'm not making excuses the came to play we didn't. But I'm simply stating that if we don't give them 28 free points GW wins that game.
I’d feel a heckuva lot better if Houston was healthy, and I haven’t had a status update on him in a week. Really feel like he was one of two kids we couldn’t afford to lose this year to have a clear shot.
I do like us spreading the ball around and getting some kids some live looks in his absence, however. Some have a really stepped up, especially 3, 4, and 12. I dunno if he’ll be back this year, but if he is, we’ll be a tough out in the region.
100% agree Houston is a great young man and one hell of a player. I have had an update yet either but I hope we get him back at some point in the season. And yes the Rainey kids have really stepped up allot with Houston out. I think we'll be hard to beat come early November especially against teams on this end of the state. Yes Galax beat us they were the better last Friday night but I don't think they can do it twice this year. And Grayson doesn't look that good to me I could be very working but I think GW will only get better.
GW isn't a bad team this year we've lost to 2 top 5 2A teams and a top 5 1A team. And the game against Galax was a comedy of errors GW is just so far clearly the better team in this game. And GW is very young this season so the more they play together the better they'll get.
This game has turned weird. Both teams trying unconventional trick plays resulting in multiple turnovers and a safety. GW even tried the Tim Tebow jump pass, which was intercepted.

Idk what the hell I'm watching lol this might be one of the weirdest games I've ever seen.
That young man is special. I'm not saying GW are world beater's this season but he ran around everything we had to offer lol. And he has a cannon for an arm with very solid accuracy. He is only going to get better.
A quick look at Coalfield Sports shows Galax last miss was 2009. Galax had some rough years from. 2003-4 through 2009. G. Wythe last miss was 2006, but it's weird. It looks like they were 6-4 in 2006, but somehow didn't make the playoffs. Interestingly, G. Wythe was 9-1 in 2004, but didn't make the playoffs? I wonder what happened there.
Lebanon happened out of the hogo that year only them and RR made the playoffs. That GW team was only scored on 3 times all season and outscored opponents 381-47. GW and Lebanon were both Division 2 back then and they out pointed us for the playoffs.
Graham by as many as they want. Backups will be in by half. GW is way down this year and I think they’ll struggle this season.
I wouldn't say GW is down this year. We're young this year with some key starters back. And yeah Radford beat our ass and Graham will to but aren't they kinda expected to? GW will imo do very well in the 1A ranks this season. I've been wrong before and might be here with my opinion but don't count us out just yet. Let's wait until the CC game and beyond to see what GW is.
I still think Double Gates in Bluefield, VA, is better dogs, but Skeeters is really good also. Lots of history with that place and a great place to grab a bite. Wytheville has somewhat of an underrated little downtown area. Very, very nice place they got going on over there.

Told yall in game 1 about Essex. They are close to KW, KW is a rival of theirs, and they have a KWilliamesk 2021 type team for Class 1A this year wiith stupid talent all over the field. I'm going a different direction. If Riverheads beats them this year (which they can) it will be an upset. Essex beating RH is not an upset this year. Essex is freakishly good.
Controversial statement here. Essex might be the best Class 1 or 2 team in VA this year. Essex, Graham, Appo, Central, Poquoson, Riverheads, Glenvar......Essex would be in the thick of it with all of them and arguably might come out ahead. Keyword...Arguably
Couldn't agree more man I fully believe they would be in the 2A game this season. I think it would be Essex vs Graham they are on a completely different level from basically the rest of 1A. And if they do to RH what I think they will that'll be proven.

He isn't lying man they would be in the exact same spot if they were 2A. Essex is loaded at every single skill spot on the field all the the skills can take it 99 yards without much effort. Then the D is the nastiest D I've seen at the 1A level since some of the old Clintwood, GW, PV, Giles ect teams. They are a problem and would be a problem at least 1 level up.
I've kept up with Essex this season and I can tell ya they have more athletes on the field than a Radford or Appo. I don't Grundy or GW could keep up with them if they play them in Salem.
I agree man they are freaking loaded this year and there isn't a kid in 1A that can handle Robinson all night. But like I said no matter who wins next Saturday I'll have my big ass in Salem cheering them on. I'd say both are now playing for second place but that's why we play the game. Anything can happen both teams out of the west can cause matchup problems for either team out of the East. GW vs Essex could be a shootout same for RH we spread the field and let our weapons work. Grundy is gonna play smash mouth football no matter who is on the other side. The east has the clear advantage on paper no matter which one wins but these kids from SWVA won't back down.
Very possible but Essex will be that side of the states representative in Salem. Yeah you can't count RH out but Essex is a completely different type of beast this year. Yeah whoever wins from GW vs Grundy is probably going to Salem for second best. But if we win I'll be there no matter what.
Yeah couldn't agree more GW definitely 1000000% has the better athletes and it isn't close. Grayson definitely has the better coaching and it isn't close. But anyone who has seen these 2 teams in person should be able to see GW is absolutely loaded at the skills and without questions has the better athletes.
GW has physically imo but the Pruitt kid and the Crigger kid are lightning fast and we've kicked them the ball twice and they've taken the ball back both times for TDs.
