I went to that game. I was 7 years old and having a mom who came from Appy and a dad from PV, I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to be at that time. I was getting pulled in two different directions. Once I started playing P-Nut in BSG, I was a Viking, though. Haha. The difference in that game was that Appy couldn’t contend with Lunenburg’s speed. They were fast to a man and had just dropped down from AA if I’m not mistaken. Lunenburg never had a team that wasn’t fast. I can attest to that first hand because I played against two of them.

didnt appy score 1st in that game?

The "worst" team PV had in the 90's during the Jones era was the 91 team.......and to be honest it wasn't a bad team, they went 5 -5 allowing 9.1 ppg and 4 shutouts. They just had a brutal schedule. The teams that beat them had a combined record 52 - 11* The highlight of the year was marching into Legion field and beating a good 7 -1 (at the time) GC team 3 to 0.

Speaking of 1991 what was the reason behind the J.I. Burton games being listed as forfeits?

they played a kid that was inelgible , i think they were 9-1 that year before the fofeits

GW Carver's last graduating class was 88. Magna Vista won state over Charlottesville HS in 89. Jerome Preston was a big man, played qb at Carver and MV but went on to play D-line at Va Tech in college. Good teams in Henry Co in the 80's, Martinsville played in 6 or 7 state championship games winning 5, Dewey Mason won 3, Carver won 2 and MV won 1. Alot of good bball back then.

fluvanna won it around that time too with a kid named luther bates. he was a beast

I agree with that totally. But Zack said he has his set philosophy and while it didn't work out this time I trust his decision making. The point about Anderson is an EXCELLENT point. Felt like he brought the offensive spark at times, could handle the ball and wasn't a defensive liability at all but wasn't quite as big and strong so they went another way but I also kinda thought he was playing well and could have been involved more

i went back and watched it again and jenkins was on the guy that hit the shot but kinda just stood there and didnt really challenge the shot. maybe if he would have at least put his hands up. also we only had 7 team fouls at that time so if you foul its still 1and 1. oh well its over now learn and move on

too many blown chances throughout the game, not just last second plays forcing overtime.  substitution/timing?   with rasnic and cuasano gone, another guard needed to be put in a position to help out with getting off a few shots and contributing and it just didn't happen.  to be in it with the turnovers they made was great, they never stopped digging and fighting back.  one of the better games i've saw in a long time but should have went the other way, in regulation.

i agree with that too. anderson hit some big shots in the first half and didnt see the floor again til overtime

99/100 simply isn't true, I've seen a lot of great coaches make the same choice. It's very situational and with how JR had shot, fouling makes most sense but I've seen Pop, Kerr, Jackson, etc... all decide to play defense and not foul.

ok not 99 out of 100 but if a team lives and dies by the three you foul. thats the point i was trying to make. most coaches foul when a team shoots the three the way jr did

  7. the region as a whole is way down compared to years past. union is 20 points better than anybody in 2d. the down side to that is once they get to state level there not really battle tested. the ooc schedule was tough but that was a month ago. nobody beating john marshall anyway. that dennis parker jr. is legit. hes 6'7 and can shoot it. hes a jr and has verbally commited to kansas. they were up 59-16 at the half tonite
