    My opinion:

    1. They don't belong in the Mid South Conference, they are way out of their league.  That is one of the best NAIA Conferences in the country, if not the best.
    2.  Fans are not going to come watch them lose all of the time.
    3.  Very few local athletes are recruited to play there.
    4.  There is a tremendous amount of player turnover, which leads to inconsistency.

I believe they should either change conferences and start playing teams more their speed, or drop the football program altogether.  Not a lot of fan support attending these games.

This community is football CRAZY.  If they are in a league in which they can be competitive and they recruit a few local athletes, attendance would be up....and they would get more "w" s.

The Athletic Director and the President of the College need to get on the ball and try to turn this thing around or just drop the football program completely.  It has to be losing money for the school, there is no way that it is profitable.

Start recruiting kids based on athleticism and character... I won't go into details about that, just had a bad experience on campus last weekend and I'll leave it at that.

What does everybody think?  It's been a few years now that football has been back at Bluefield College.  I just think it could have and should have been done differently.

Can they play as an independent and pick up teams more their speed?

They are better this year than they have been.

Do they have any youth soccer leagues in Richlands?  If so, how long have they had them?

nujasalapala reacted to SWVAFB in Smyth County Schools in a state of despair !
We send our young children off to school, which we like to think is a safe
Place, and no harm will come to them, under the protection of adult teachers
And instructors. Well, according to reports today in the News, an adult volunteer assistant volleyball coach at Marion Senior High School has been
Charged with several different criminal sexual offenses that involved a student
    At MSHS.

If these allegations are true, some heads need to roll in the school system
In Smyth County. From what I have read, a young " volunteer " assistant Coach
Of the Volleyball team had an " inappropriate " relationship with a student.

Details are limited at this time, but some employees at MSHS and the Central
Office needs to be relived of their duties immediately. Common sense should
Tell normal people that young adults do not need to be " volunteering " for
Girls high school sports. It has disaster written all over the entire matter.

The school board had to approve of this arrangement, as well as the school principal, head coach, and athletic director. The arrangement allowed
This person to be in a caretaker role at MSHS. There appears to be a great deal
Of incompetence with these employees, and they should never be put in a decision
Making role again. Their employment should be terminated immediately.

The Smyth County School system is in a state of despair. The Superintendent is
New and inexperienced, and the school system itself is a very tough situation
Financialy. Smyth County tries to operate 14 schools, all over the county, when
In reality, Smyth County needs only about half that number.

The citizens are being taxed to death to keep all these schools and their employees in good standing. The county refuses to recruit businesses and industry to help offset the educational cost. Real estate and personal property
Tax and higher taxes assessment is the County way to pay for educational cost.

The county has recently lost several principals and vice principals. Some have
Just quit and took factory jobs, and other retired to just get out of a very poor administered school system. Get ready Smyth County, you are going to need
A whole lot of money, when all the law suits are settled.

My thoughts and Prayers are with this young child in Smyth County.

Lee runs the gauntlet and goes through Dan River and Gate City to make it to the finals where they will meet Amelia for the title.

They won both games in OT.  Two 6'8" kids underneath, very athletic team.  I think they will roll Amelia in the finals.

Don't think too many folks predicted this matchup in the finals.

Below is the entire obituary that was originally posted on the website of Carnes Funeral Home:

"Leslie Ray 'Popeye' Charping was born in Galveston on November 20, 1942 and passed away January 30, 2017, which was 29 years longer than expected and much longer than he deserved.  Leslie battled with cancer in his latter years and lost his battle, ultimately due to being the horses ass he was known for.  He leaves behind 2 relieved children; a son Leslie Roy Charping and daughter, Shiela Smith along with six grandchildren and countless other victims including an ex wife, relatives, friends, neighbors, doctors, nurses and random strangers.

"At a young age, Leslie quickly became a model example of bad parenting combined with mental illness and a complete commitment to drinking, drugs, womanizing and being generally offensive.  Leslie enlisted to serve in the Navy, but not so much in a brave & patriotic way but more as part of a plea deal to escape sentencing on criminal charges.  While enlisted, Leslie was the Navy boxing champion and went on to sufficiently embarrass his family and country by spending the remainder of his service in the Balboa Mental Health Hospital receiving much needed mental healthcare services.

"Leslie was surprisingly intelligent, however he lacked ambition and motivation to do anything more than being reckless, wasteful, squandering the family savings and fantasizing about get rich quick schemes.  Leslie's hobbies included being abusive to his family, expediting trips to heaven for the beloved family pets and fishing, which he was less skilled with than the previously mentioned.  Leslie's life served no other obvious purpose, he did not contribute to society or serve his community and he possessed no redeeming qualities besides quick whited sarcasm which was amusing during his sober days.

"With Leslie's passing he will be missed only for what he never did; being a loving husband, father and good friend.  No services will be held, there will be no prayers for eternal peace and no apologizes to the family he tortured.  Leslie's remains will be cremated and kept in the barn until 'Ray,' the family donkey's wood shavings run out.  Leslie's passing proves that evil does in fact die and hopefully marks a time of healing and safety for all."
