Graham was in control almost all game tonight.

Ray had a game & 1/2 and I believe Disibbo had 4- 3pointers and was open several other times. It was a good game for the GMen! I worry about them getting in foul trouble though if they’re not careful. I’m a little surprised Baker didn’t bring up a couple of JV players.

Graham has been on again, off again all season. Disibbio is one of the more consistent players. He definitely needs more playing time. The Fix kid is fun to watch too. Graham can win tomorrow night at the SWD tournament semis, depending on which Graham team shows up.

They were working yesterday. Didn't go by there today so if there was a stoppage it was since yesterday after lunch.

Heard there was a work stoppage at the Graham site, which is now pushing back the start time for Tazewell's project. Can anyone confirm. Something with DEQ.

They were on site this morning working. I can’t speak to the rest of the day.

Edit: They were working today so if it was halted, looks like they’re back in business.

You never know about kids. Some surprise in other ways. Keep your eyes on the former Graham player at ODU named Gage Sawyers. He was kind of an under the radar player in the region even though he was first team All State. I've heard good things about him at ODU. You may see a situation kind of opposite of Adkins where this kid takes off. He was highly underestimated in my opinion coming out of High School.

Mike Compton out of High School was good and an All State type, but few thought he would become a first team All American and 11 year NFL starter and a near miss for All Pro (next guy up that got outvoted) 5 times. Sometimes, they go the other way. Heck, Bill Dudley if we go back to the 1940s is an example. A scrawny little kid UVA just took a chance on and a "good" High School player but nothing special or elite, and of course....NFL Hall of Famer.

Unfortunately, more times than not, it goes the other way and the above are exceptions to the rule. Jury is out on Sawyers. He's one to keep an eye on.

Gage was probably the best all around player Graham had and a hard worker. He had some wheels on him too. Good kid, good head on his shoulders! It was shame he was out injured against King William that year. He made up for it for sure the next year! I hope he has a stellar career at ODU & beyond!

What's the deal with Graham?  Is it simply "a field?"  Or.....are they building a new football stadium where Graham will play home football games there?  Huge difference in a "new field" or "new track" and a new stadium which means...parking, seats, bleachers, lots of concrete for bleachers and concessions, etc.  Anyone know if Graham is building a home football stadium or simply putting down turf for a practice field?  Thanks in advance.  By reading this thread, I think it's a new stadium, but I'm not all the way sure.  Somebody wrote that Graham would be complete with their project by August?  If it's August, that sounds to me like a new "field" and only that, not a new "stadium."  It seems a new stadium wouldn't be anywhere close to being done by August.....if it's a new stadium.

Turf complete by August is my understanding and they’re getting a track around I believe. Stadium will come later financed by the community. 🤞🤞🤞🤞 Someone can correct if this is fake news! 😂😂😂😂

Sage Blevins (DL), Abingdon, signed with Emory & Henry.  He was the only local kid to sign with them after signing 4-5 last year.

UVA-Wise added Parker Bandy (WR) and Tyler Cole (DL), both from Honaker.

I have no indication if these are walk-ons or if they are scholarship kids.  The D-2 world offers varying amounts of "football money" usually coupled with academic and other types of financial aid.

Doesn't appear ETSU added any local kids.  About 60% of their incoming class are transfers.

I don't see anything on Concord's site for local kids, as of now.

I don't see any local kids on Bluefield State's signings, as of now.

I don’t understand why Bluefield State & Bluefield College (University) don’t recruit more from local Mercer County & Tazewell County schools. There’s a lot of local talent that could contribute to either program.

It doesn't help he's in a relationship with Marions AD. Wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor in the removal. I didn't see it happen, so I can't say anything about it, but both the head coach and the assistant coach having kids on the team may cause tempers to flare more easily. Besides the point, Graham played really bad and Marion were hitting their shots. When Marions on they can be dangerous , but putting them at 3 is a bit far-fetched in my opinion. I would still put Graham and Lebanon over them. VA High is beatable for both these teams with their big guy out, too. Still taking Blue Devils at #1.

I heard Graham didn’t play well especially 1st half & defense was very lacking throughout. If the other team is putting them up, you gotta play defense. It will be interesting to see how the VA High/Graham shakes out tonight.
As far as what happened at the Marion/Graham game, intentional or not, then repercussions (besides a technical) should occur.

  8. Did a Virginia High wrestler throw a punch on a Richlands’ wrestler during a match and wasn’t flagged for it? There’s a video floating around showing it but it’s hard to tell if it was intentional without seeing it live. Seems like this district meet had more than one controversy, lol!

Good luck to all SWD/M7 wrestlers competing next week! Hopefully, it goes well and no drama!

Amen!!  They went to a 2-3 zone from what looked on nfhs about 5 minutes to go and Disibbio was subbed out after 6 straight pts!! Took the lead and he never went back in game.
Team playing zone is what shooters love

Crazy! Disibbo has such a smooth release and makes a lot more than he misses. I’m no coach but he’d be my go to in clutch situations.

Marion with big upset against graham last night.  I bet nobody had that on their bracket.

How the heck did that happen? Graham beat them by 30 or 40 the first time? Doubt they’ll be a tie for SWD Champ now. Did Graham have Ray or Disibbo out? Those two were knocking down 3s the other night like crazy against Lebanon.

Congratulations  to Marion to on the upset though!

Next week is the Iowa caucus, and thus the start of the 2024 election cycle.

Looks like it's gonna be Trump vs Biden again.

Someone needs to convince Nikki Haley she doesn’t have a chance of winning the Republican nomination. I‘m not sure why she’s insists on hanging about.
