I think Bluefield has 2 issues. No traditional QB and lack of depth. I have watched all their games on the internet and they pretty much play the same guys on both sides of the ball. You never really see anyone coming in to give someone a break. Maybe one or two guys at best. No solid rotation to keep players fresh.

MAVS JV moves to 3-0 with previous wins over Greenbrier West 34-0 and Shady Springs 26-8. They play Bluefield next. Does anyone know how they have been doing so far?

Great start to the season for the young Mavericks!

Any updates on the Bluefield scrimmage?

Graham will definitely be a tougher challenge. Greenbrier East could be in for a tough year. James Monroe’s schedule is harder this year than last years. So we could actually be better than last year but the overall record might not show it. Wish we could have found a 10th game but it’s a lot harder when you have been winning lately. We have 2 byes in the first 4 weeks and don’t play a home game till October. It is what it is I guess.

Was told by a friend James Monroe’s 1st team scored 8 times against Greenbrier East. Second team scored 3-4 times and East scored once against our second team.

The field is a grass field. It’s in good shape. It’s located on a hill behind the high school with a beautiful view! All of our sports facilities were built with donations and free labor from the community. Do you know if this is just a one year deal or not?

What time of year do Virginia schools release their schedules for next year?

So far we(James Monroe) have Greenbrier West, Midland Trail, Nicholas County and Summers County.

That’s the only one I know of so far. Should be hearing something pretty soon though on the rest of the schedule. Will let you know when I hear something.

We’ve already dropped Bluefield for Nicholas County. I doubt Bluefield would’ve wanted to continue playing us also since we dropped.

Yes should really help us(James Monroe) Greenbrier West only loss this year was to us and they’re in the quarterfinals right now so we’d be right in the thick of it. Hopefully this will encourage more kids to come out and play sports at James Monroe like they use too! It should make a huge difference!
