  1. I don't think too many on the board have stated that Appo is an easy out, and I can tell you that all Richlands fans respect the heck out of Appo and their program, but I for one think that the ""BEARS"" have a good formula for beating Appo. Yes, we are all pulling for Union, or SWVA remaining team, but we're not saying its going to be a cake walk. We know it will be a big task to take Appo down, but we also know how determined Union is and feel that this is their year, that's why we're still posting on this board even after our team is out, to support our end of the State. GO BEARS!!!!!
  2. Thanks man for trying to help out Mv91 is a fantastic fan and he deserves all the help you can give him with the seating arrangement. I know he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, a stand up guy all the way. I appreciated how all us SWVA fans come together to support each other when we play (outsiders) someone other than each other. Thanks Man.
  3. May already have been published on the board, (forgive me if it has) but for us who have to work Saturday--what radio station can we listen to game?????
  4. Oh, thank you for bringing me into the present with the hotel description, I though that was a futuristic thing. What most have know from travel over the years is that teenagers have a tendency to stay up long hours and enjoy the freedom from parents and coaches, playing games and having fun. It happens all the time. A team that travels (even if they stay in one of those things you call a hotel) doesn't get the same rest they would if they were home in their own bed without fellow players around. SO YES travel does make a difference!!!; that's why it is so concerning with coaches when their team has to travel.
  5. I do agree with your statement, and you are right from that viewpoint, but I along with the majority on this board, from what I have viewed, do not think this game is your usual SWVA game, and I for one think it will take four quarters to decide who goes away the victor. If I'm wrong you can beat me over the left eye ball with a wet noodle, and I will humbly apologize and bow to your superior knowledge of football. Who knows, maybe I'll even begin to only watch the first quarter of the games, and say, "Game over" ha ha
  6. Thanks for the respect, but what do you base your anology on, most games that are not blow outs are not decided until late in the game, and being a Richlands fan I'll point to RHS vs Graham (overtime), RHS vs Marion (4th 2:00 minutes on the clock), RHS vs VH ( late in the 4th) RHS vs Blk Burg. late in 3rd quarter, RHS vs W Byrd 2nd half. None of these games were decided in the first quarter. The only games decided in the first quarter is when you have a lopsided match and one team is far superior to the other. That's not the case in this game, so how can you say it will be decided in the first quarter?
  7. Not true here in SWVA. Over the past 4 yrs. the games between Richlands and Union wasn't decided until very late in the fourth, or even overtime. Union has the experience of for quarters no matter what happens in the first quarter. GROUND & POUND with the crowd noise and the travel will win this game for the Bears, but they will have to control the clock for four full quarters, not just one, and I think they understand this. Go BEARS!!!!!
  8. What is the craziest stadium you ever watched a game in? For me it has to be Big Creek WVA
  9. The thing about Appo is the overall play of the whole team. If you stop the slant and begin to put heat on the QB, they will screen you to death. If you stop the run inside they will option you outside. They are a good over all team, but Union has just as good a team if they don't get sucked into playing Appo's game. As stated here before, GROUND & POUND, keeping the ball away from the Appo offence. Another team that use to do this well was the old Gate City under Harry Frye, 4 downs and a cloud of dust was one of his favorite sayings. I remember 4th and 4 on his own 18 yard line and GC went for it and made 5 yards and a first. To me Union has that kind of offense and one heck of a defense. I saw them play Richlands twice this year, and I have no doubt that if they don't let Appo get them out of their game, all Union fans will celebrate a victory at Bullit Park. Go Bears!!!!!
  10. Most Richlands fans I know will be there, be loud, and be proud of SWVA. I know Union has the right formula to get this win, and I think Appo don't know what they are heading into with all the supporting fans from around SWVA showing up at the Bullit on the Union side. Appo is going to see a lot of lightening "R"s in the stands making a lot of noise for the Bears. Go!!!!Union Bears!!!!
  11. Good luck to both, have a injury free game and may the best team win. Enjoy the atmosphere, it will a lifetime memory. Have to work today, but will be listening. May God bless one and all.
  12. Thanks, Ill be at work, but will be listening for sure.
  13. Probably already been stated, but when is this game going to be played, Friday night, or Saturday?
  14. Being from Richlands, I almost hate to speak the words, but I am pulling for Graham. The QB's uncle use to be my son-in-law and I have watched Cameron from pee wee up, so I wish him the very best game of his life and hope they bring home a win. My heart tells me that Union's defense will be to much for the G-men and although it will be a good game, I think Travis Turner will have the Bears running on all cylinders come game time, and will claim another victory. Best of luck to both teams and their fans, both teams deserve this game, enjoy this time, you will remember it the rest of your life.
  15. good luck to both teams, enjoy the game, and hope for no injuries. God speed to those who are traveling.
  16. Hope both teams have an injury free game and all are careful in their travels. Enjoy the game and best of luck to both teams.
  17. Yeah, I had one mother yeah, "I know where you live." Heck, everyone at the game knew where I lived. Your correct about the mamas, you would think you had stolen the kids favorite teddy bear.
  18. Good job guys, thanks for your diligent work.
  19. I have umped little league baseball and I fully understand what they are up against, but from experience, the longer the discussion, the more riled up the crowd becomes. The worst thing from my experience was the little league mothers, man you would think it was the world series, with stress levels through the roof. I'm glad I don't take part in that anymore.
  20. From a Richlands fan view point, I've always found the fans at Bullit Park to be totally into the game, but totally respectful to the visitors. Like Richlands fans, they help pick up the players in tough situations and let you know they are behind the team and will be there when the team needs them. Great Fans, we appreciate their enthusiasm.
  21. Doesn't the White Hat have the final say in disputed calls, and if so why should there be these long discussions? In my opinion, the White Hat for this game needs to get some gonads about him, make the call, own it and move on. Sounds simple, but anytime you have these long discussions it causes fans to question your ability to be officiating in the first place. Hate to hear about the controversy on this level, not good for the game no matter which teams are playing.
  22. Back on subject. Marion has more weapons than Ford, but not enough for Union. Hope its a good game and no injuries.
  23. Yeah, I'm pulling for Narrows. Go Green Wave!!
  24. I hate to hear you guys are going through this sh-- hope everything gets worked out before Friday.
