That would have been the Union game in 2017 in Big Stone Gap! What an atmosphere it was that day!!!

Within reason I agree with you (or at least use to agree with you...before these flop deals for homefield advantage) I love a good atmosphere but I have to agree Train horns while a team is on the line is too much. A team could have ONLY ONE fan in the stands and if he has a train horn he alone can screw up a team from calls at the LOS. Now a groupd of fans with bells and screaming...Yea, allow every bit of that!!! That's what you want for your team!! Now I have a problem with the "let the home team do what they want come the last two rounds of the playoffs this year. I HATE the idea that a low team can host for the mere reason that the other region hosted last year. Homefield should be the highest rated team at that point. This year even even is worse that one team will host the state championship.!!!! With this I say both teams should be allowed to bring a horn, band, whatever they want to at least try to level the playing field for the visiting team.

Yea, Giles was told they could blow it on scores and when the team came out I think. Miss that horn as long as it's used correctly.

Thats illegal isnt it? Shouldn't be! If a band is not allowed to be playing during huddles and at the LOS then something like a train horn shouldn't be. Cowbells and screaming fans is perfectly fine but something like that is a "one man wrecking crew" for communication on the field.

Trip to Big St. Gap some years ago was great. Stayed in Bristol and then to UVA Wise for pre game lift and walkthroughs and lunch. Loved the country side. Trip home was LONG. Drove for an hour and hit 81 in Tenn.😳 I hope to make a trip to SWVA in a few weeks.

Appo is not the team they have been in the past. We have strong athletes in positions but are weaker in certain areas at the same time. Also, a lack of real competition this year is definitely a strike against them. There are also some "ME's" on the team that need to be reigned in. This years team. No doubt Now I'd line up the 2016 Raiders against most any high school team. Would they win???? But that team HATED the concept of possibly losing more than they loved to win.

Don’t drink the koolaid! Raiders are good but lots of good practices need to be had to reach their potential.

Coach is missed greatly! He does so well keeping kids grounded and focusing each day in practice.

Don’t put too much faith in the Raiders. They have talent but some egos to real in to be considered a favorite. Their weak schedule isn’t helping those egos either.

While the first game was won 42-6 I think the QB for Altavista had more yards than the Raiders would have liked to give up. He is fast for sure, (state champion in the 60 meter dash this year) so he will get some yards if he is able to get outside on you. Hard to motivate a team to play another team the second time around when they beat them by 36 points the first time. The Raiders need to set goals of "points by half time" and "amount of yards allowed by half time" I think you may start seeing some starters playing more in the second half (if this does in fact become ugly). Unfortunately the Raiders are put in a hard position. They either play football and run their offense for 4 quarters and possibly make some ugly scores or they call off the dogs if they get up big by half. The later of those options though doesn't help them to be the best team they can be come playoffs. In saying all that though, they could roll into any of these game over confident and get a burnt. Hate that this is their schedule. So wish we could see if anyone in the Seminole is in need of a game.

How can you have a regular HS stadium and only put 250 in it then (hypothetical) host a concert (entertainment) and have 1000 in the same regular stadium on the very next day.🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

2017, we lost a starter on the second series of the game. Another went out before halftime , both came out in street clothes for the second half. We were down at the half and relied on backups to help us battle back to win that game. They needed the experience they gained running our offense in the regular season blow outs. Im fine with kicking field goals when your up. Special teams can win you big games. They need as many reps as they can get.

I’ve always said to keep the hammer down if you got your two and threes in. Now in 2015 and 2016 Appomattox’s twos would run lots of teams off the field. In that case have your threes in but OPERATE YOUR offense. You are always an injury away from needing a backup in the playoffs that needs that experience throwing the ball or running that route. You can win BIG and still be respectful.

How does this years Graham team compare to last years? I kinda figured they would still be good but even if not “as good” still capable of being a threat.

Yea, that ain’t helping the team. They really need to work for one. Wish we could bring in one of the Seminole teams instead of the ones we are playing a second time. Win or loose the battle is needed. Staying healthy is going to be very important for them.

Lol! Not saying we aren’t now. Just trying to improve weekly now. Lots of improvement to be done! I’m sure the coaches will be working and pushing them hard this week.
