I’m not being a butt hole by no mean but Lebanon will do 4-6 at best, 2-8 at worst.
Not taking it that way, everyone has an opinion. Their schedule is a lot easier this year, and from the looks of it they have a chance to win their remaining games minus Graham, Richlands, and Tazwell. They are young and will improve each week. They will struggle against a lot of speed. I don't think they will be so easy to beat next season, or in the next couple years. They have 19 freshman on the roster.
I agree, I am not saying they are the caliber of Abingdon or Ridgeview, but I could see them giving Union and the rest of the M7 a fit.......I may be wrong, but they definitely have improved over the last few years.
I'm not sure how good Eastside is..they have given up almost 1000 yards in 2 weeks if you count the benefit game. I'm going to wait until I say Central truly legit or if Eastside is just bad defensively. I know Central is improved but I want to see how they do against stronger teams. I figure their speed will hurt lebanon but I have a feeling Lebanon will keep it closer than people think. Lebanon's defensive coordinator is really good at coming up with game plans. I also expect the lebanon offense to be more productive in this one. It will be interesting.
Ive not ate at Clissos yet but I have faith it would be good, 4 seasons is very good and is right in the middle of town.
Depending on how much football you want Central at Lebanon has been moved to Thursday for some reason. Not as exciting of a game as U/R but its football!
It moved due to fair day for students, as well as a concert that was originally scheduled but got postponed.
I think Central will be a sleeper in the Mountain 7 this year and surprise a few teams.........the talent is there and I think they cruise against Lebanon.......
If I was a head coach, Central would be a game that I would make sure my team was not over looking.......could cause some havoc for some teams and possibly make a playoff run this year.
Sleeper? Maybe, but I still dont think they are in the same class as Abingdon. Abingdon's size and depth is going to really hurt them. I think they might give either Ridgeview or Union problems though. I still dont think they finish better than 4th in the Mountain 7.
If Eastside stays healthy they will win several games. Having seen both, I think Eastside would beat Lebanon.
Did you see them in a scrimmage? I usually take those with a grain of salt to a point. We will find out, when Eastside comes to Lebanon later in September.

Is Central really that good ? Or was Eastside just really bad ? I know central has speed, but do they have size? I also know they are young. Lebanon is also a young team that is improving I wouldn't overlook them. It might end up being a better game than you think. With that being said I don't think the Pioneers win this. Let's see how central does later on against tougher competition.
In statement to court by superintendent all of these girls accusations had been confirmed by documentation that Principal turned in but for some reason just now is coming to light...
Exactly...that's fishy. They should have come out over a year ago. This is a classic example of a principal doing his job and the board office covering it up, because of who the offender was. That is shameful and a disservice to the students in Norton and the staff he worked with. He needs to have all teaching credentials revoked and all coaching records vacated in my opinion. He also deserves to face jail time. Pathetic excuse for a teacher, coach and community leader.
Just calling a spade, a spade! Not saying your not entitled to your opinion.
Let me spell this out for you. I'm optimistic about what's going on with the pioneers for a couple reasons.
1. Increased numbers- the result from an expanded youth program. They should maintain 40 to 50 players per season as a result. This will increase depth. Will this produce wins over night ...no but in time they will be a playoff caliber team consistently.
2. I'm not the only one who thinks they are improved. The Lebanon News who was quick to point out that the pioneers could go 0-10 last season picked them ahead of both Marion and VHS this season. They are very unbiased when it comes to the teams coverage.
3. Do I think they are world beaters who can beat any team? No, I'm realistic, I even picked Central to beat them my at least 2 scores. I also see Graham, Richlands, and Tazwell beating them. My guess is by the time they play Marion, they will be improved and it will be a good game. I say they beat Virginia High because I saw them play, and I've watched enough of Lebanon to form my basis for that. This is a young Pioneer team. They have talent and they are going to improve with every game. I've said all along they win 4 games at least and I'm sticking to it.
Their haters are going to continue to be their motivators.
I Find it ironic that a lebanon fan is calling out another team.
I didn't call out another team. I said I think lebanon is better than both marion and vhs at the moment. That is totally my opinion, and I'm totally entitled to it. If I'm wrong I'm wrong only time will tell. Sorry my comment triggered you sheesh.
I think folks are taking too much from the Hurley scrimmage. They flat hit Tennessee High in the mouth the week before and Richlands the week after. I'm not saying they're world beaters and I haven't even seen them in person yet. All I'll say is this bunch has confidence now, and still a huge chip on their shoulder. The town of Gate City has been starvin to death for a team that'll bust their hind ends for 48 minutes. I look for Legion Field to be rock'n and roll'n Friday night. Abingdon may win by 28 Friday night, but they could also run into a buzzsaw. Keep in mind, GC played them solid for the first half last year at Abingdon.
True, but the abingdon team in week 2 last year was breaking in a new coach and system. Abingdon went on to win that game 45 to 13. They didn't fix things until they lost to winless Hidden Valley team. Following that game they didn't lose until they lost to Lord Botatort in the playoffs. Gate City might keep it close, but I'm still betting the falcons win by 2 or 3 scores. I just don't think Gate City is on their level yet.
I'm not seeing it. Virginia High is bad. I think Battle got blown out by a very good Abingdon team. Just like Virginia high got beat by a good Tazewell team. Unless Virginia High fixes the defense, battle has enough speed to hurt them.
I think Battle wins by 14 at least. I'm sorry to say but I think Bearcatsdad is accurate when he said VHS could go 0-10 to a generous 3-7. My guess is 1-9. I think they might get Marion. I honestly think Iebanon is better than both of those teams at the moment, but who knows I could be wrong.
Lebanon main problem in a lot of games is going to be confidence. If they can get confident by then I see them beating both Virginia High and Marion.

Agree with ya on Richlands. But, when you gash a team by running off tackle for 300 yds at their place, that's a good sign for your offensive line and running back. Even if GC is improved, they still will have the good issue and bad issue. The good issue is the ground and pound shortening the game and keeping turnovers low and you are going to be in almost all games. The bad is......because of the above, you are also going to be in many games if you turnover or get hit with a big quick strike score. So, that's the issue for GC with their style. With their history when the talent is there, it has worked for them and it's clear their OL and RB is way better. But talent still takes time to develop and I get the feeling GC may be out talented in this game. Abingdon by 7-10 points.
How do you think GC will fair against Lucus and the Abingdon passing game ? Lucus is a beast.
Optimistically I hope my pioneers can pull an upset. I think I they have the potential to do so against someone this season. They held a potent Honaker offense to 14 pts. Lebanon had a couple opportunities to score but mistakes hurt them. You've got to finish drives to win games. Realistically I would give Central the edge in this one. I hope I'm wrong in this one. I think Lebanon still wins 4 or so, just not this one.
Central 28
Lebanon 14
Keep plugging pioneers you will get there. That being said I think they win in their next two games against Grundy and Eastside.
Graham wins by 3tds. Tazewell in my opinion has more to prove for me to see them as a contending team. I think they will win some games, but they have to stay healthy.
I think abingdon wins by 2 tds. They scored at will against a supposedly stingy battle defense. The Falcons are well coached and will be ready for them. I'm not taking anything away from Gate City, but I think they caught Richlands in a very overconfident unprepared moment. That won't happen with the Falcons.
It will be interesting to see what the Devil's can do against Abingdon. I think it's close, but have Abingdon winning at home. Abingdon better be good up front and get ready for the "Cahoon" because that's a rough running back.
Also, I just ain't feeling it. As much punches, straight rights, uppercuts and head butts the GC fans and program have taken on here, and only a couple of quick congrats in one or two single posts? Na brothers, that's a bit weak. It's crowtime. I'm a GMen diehard, and credit to GC fans on here for playing it pretty cool and not lashing out or talking smack with the win. It's a pretty good sign if a non GC fan has to serve the crow. Are you kidding me? Statements something to the effect of, "it will take 10-15 years to get GC back on track." LMAO.
I think a few of you know who you are. Show some sack folks. They deserve a bit more than a quick, "congrats on your win." They took far to many punches for that quick of a comment. I think you know who you are. I'm sure the Abingdon guy is on pens and needles this week with the "love" he's showed for GC on here.
On a serious note, a huge congrats to Jeremy (a good friend of mine), and for the kids, the fans, and that town. One more crow type thing. If GC has turned it around and they knock off Abingdon or Union and bust out at 6-4 this year, for the ones who hammered them on the coaching thing, and arguing it didn't matter who the coach was, you can't win there? For those people, you are going to be absolutely crow stuffed and tasting tennis shoe rubber for a while, if, and that's a big if, but if Houseright turns the thing around in one season.
If the Devil's are 6-4, did they magically find talent this year that wasn't supposed to be there for a decade. Surely, it can't be the new coach, right? Devil fans, I suspect you guys are going to be rooted against, whether open or in secret, for the rest of the year, and especially in games against Abingdon and Union. Why? Crow tastes terrible man. You can't even season it up or deep fry it to make it taste good. It's gonna be a fun ride. If GC beats Abingdon and Richlands beats Union, there's gonna be some serious nervousness setting in down that way, lol.
I'm glad GC is improving, but I think Abingdon still wins by 2 tds. After beating Richlands, GC isn't a secret anymore. Abingdon is well coached they will be ready.
I was in agreement with you on all your points till the humble one. Here’s why, these kids started as mostly freshmen and sophomores two years ago are now Juniors and Seniors and there wasn’t no teams being humble with them.
That's all well and good but I don't care what team it is nobody likes cocky. I think you and I can both agree on that. You made my point for me.....nobody was humble to them, so they aren't going to be the bigger team and have humility now ? Not sure I agree with that. What is that teaching them in the long run? Humility always goes a long way. We should be teaching our students humility, kids don't get taught that a lot now days
Good luck the rest of the season and I hope you have a blessed day.
