I think it was more related to having to use so many under classmen for varsity.  If so, that will make them more competitive in the next 2-3 years.  Can someone verify, via a roster, if they have a lot of freshman and sophomores on varsity?  I know they still have a middle school team.

Maybe if they can Keep players out.  Going straight from middle school to Varsity would be a challenge for most kids I would think.  Im all about giving coaches time to build and rebuild.   Just kinda surprising if a programs JV team is no longer in existence

As is often the case with small schools, the Raiders are in a down cycle. I'm also not sure Caudill is the right guy. They were horrible last year because of a terrible rash of injuries, but that opened the door for a ton of playing time for the kids starting this year. The Raiders are a more veteran team and should be much better than they are right now.

I thought they had higher expectations this yr.    Usual ever few yrs they have a stud or 2 come through.  Who is the coach?

4 depending on which reclassification time you are asking about. At one point Marion was AA Division 4 or "Big AA." Equal to Division 4 now. Same for Richlands and Tazewell. When Richlands in 1992 and Tazewell in 1986 won state titles, they were Div 4 or equal to Class 4 in today's time. Marion use to be Division 4, AA.

Their were 6 classifications back then just like now and started in 1986, but they were called something different. There was A (Divisions 1 and 2), there was AA (Divisions 3 and 4), and there was AAA (Divisions 5 and 6). People also called each level in A, AA, and AAA as "Big and Small." For example, Richlands in 1992 was AA Division 4 or "Double A Big," Graham in 1989 was "Double A Small" or Division 3.

Since the VHSL went to basically renaming what was described above to six "Classifications", I have no idea what Marion was. In truth, Virginia has had six Levels of play since 1986 and its been called or labeled or renamed or "reclassified" since then, but it's essentially the same related to one key thing.....6 levels or classes or Divisions or "A's" or whatever one chooses to call them has been the same in total number.....6. Marion at one time was as high as 4th out of that 6.

That makes sense.  I always picture Marion as a fairly good size school

Spurlock has already gotten some the things steered a different direction with influencing our youth league to turn to strictly in house and focusing on the weight room and conditioning. The kids that came out and stayed love him. As you said, if some parents just keep their mouth shut and let him work, he will build a program. Just will take time.

Central parents have a rich history of not winning championships in football.  They beat Powell valley once in the 90s so coaches should listeh

If I remember correctly Pound use to have a guy grilling burgers behind the end zone and those were some good burgers or I was just starving

It's seems like they did have a grill going near the permanent block concession stand that made cotton candy.   JJK baseball had some good burgers back in the day
