He's definitely no wordsmith. But that is fine with me. I'd rather have someone tell me the truth with rough language than have someone lie to me with flowery language. It reminds me of that hurricane a couple years back that came through NC and he was saying something about how it was going to be very wet and very windy.. and the media ate him up. But once people started drowning because they chose not to evacuate, then somehow that was his fault as well.

They did this to my father at UVA hospital nearly 21 years ago in his dying days. I was 17 at the time and the stench of the infection as it came out of his lungs ... Going back about a decade both VT and UVA had good clubs. I remember VT even beat Navy one year pretty handily. But Clemson owned the ACRU or whatever the ACC called their club rugby conference. I believe both Navy and Clemson play top tier rugby now vs. squads like Cali while the other ACC teams play in the lower division IIRC.

I hope you dont take this wrong, it is only a thought. With names like RAGE, It just makes the whole thing sound so cheap and superficial. Give your/these team(s) a name that the kids will take pride in for years to come. Those fly-by-night names are great at reeling in kids in the short term because they're so "edgy" and "unique" and catch the eye so to speak, but they're not good for building long term success as kids lost interest so quick. It is great what you're doing in that area. I'm blessed to be in the hottest part of the state for Lacrosse and can drive across the river into Maryland and catch that hotbed whenever I so desire as well. It would be wonderful to see the great American sport of Lacrosse pick up steam in SWVA and Northern TN.

That woman should still be in prison to this day. I'm sure she ended up with a book deal or something instead. Which season was it where UVA had Notre Dame on the ropes but had an untimely offsides to end their chance? You ever catch the Cavs play rugby? I went and watched them play Maryland one year and they got beat 77-5. But I know they used to have good teams. I've got out of keeping up with rugby these days though.

Watching UVA outphysical Yale last year was a joy to watch. The first Lacrosse game I ever got to see live was UVA vs. Duke in Charlottesville a year or so after the "rape" incident . The Cav fans gave them hell, but Duke ended up winning. 19-9 was the final I believe.

And of course there would have to be some shirtless dude prancing around 🙄 I used to love soccer but the constant flopping turned me off. My wife is hispanic so if soccer is on TV it's the wussy Liga MX brand complete with 4 dozen flops instead of the EPL brand which is much better IMHO. I recall watching some crappy friendly between Honduras and El Salvador or Costa Rica and I kid you not, there were 6 guys laying on the ground screaming in "agony" at the same time. Lacrosse is just badass.

I'd love to see Lacrosse pick up steam in SWVA. Second best sport in the world behind American Football. Nothing like heading over to the Naval Academy and checking out a game from time to time. Got to watch them beat UMBC in the snow a few weeks before UMBC became THE UMBC a couple years back. Most exciting sporting event I've ever witnessed in person was the 6A lacrosse state title in 2015 between James Robinson and Chantilly. An overtime thriller.

Lol, considering they got away with robbery vs. Amherst in '05 it may be time for the ones who still complain about a game they lost by 10 to shut up. What ever happened to Dennis Vaught? I know he went to a school down in Tidewater to coach, got fired for using the N word and then apparently has never been heard of again?

Who knows, maybe I've gotten used to the stench of Pioneer District football. Mediocre football, angry fans. I can tell you, there is a story about a game between Natural Bridge and Parry McCluer from back in the early 60's where PM lost the game. The fans chased the officials into the gym at PM. And then, after being escorted out by the cops, the mob flipped over a police car with the refs inside. This story is legit because I've read about it in the old papers. These 2020 antifa posers have nothing on old school BV!

I cant speak for the year 2020, but I do know Amherst used to be awful. Watched them in a playoff game vs. Glass back in 1998 they openly cheered an injury to one of Hilltopper players ("Get up, boy"). Of course a few weeks later Hampton ripped them to shreds and undoubtedly out-unclassed them lol. They were still pretty mouthy when I watched them vs. William Byrd in '07ish. I remember some of their fans standing at the entrace gate heckling Terrier fans as they came in, asking them why they wasted their money coming over there etc.

Imagine living in an area where pay raises or job offers hinge on whether or not you played high school football 20-30 years ago. A police force that, for a town of 6,000, rules the city with an iron fist. Taxes that are higher than anywhere else in the area due to a freaking crappy golf course being agreed upon by a council and not a vote by the citizens. A town that once had thriving industry that up and left for Mexico leaving a town filled with meth and old people reminiscing about the "good ol days" constantly. Well, there you have Buena Vista lol. And what cracks me up is when I go back there everyone talks about how "rude" northerners are, northerners being NoVa since thats where I'm at.. and I sit and shake my head in amazement. To be fair though, I always thought Craig County had some mouthy ones too. I know I had a run in with a reporter (I think he may have worked for the local paper, not sure) from CC one year. I used to hate Covington until I befriended people from over that way and my whole outlook changed with them. I miss AlCo sometimes.

I know I've mentioned this on the Preps board many times and it is not fair for me to target Riverheads specifically. But in my humble opinion this is how the divisions should look 1A - 400 or less students 2A - 401 to 750 students 3A - 751 to 1450 students 4A - 1451 and above I've kicked that horse half a million times now but I'll kick it again for safe measure. And that includes adding in the private schools. Boarding schools not allowed lol.

There is really only 2-3 legit teams in 1A. And I dare to say that number is down to 1 now. Essex is a squad that should be much better than they are with the horses they have on their line. But the coaches there are die hard spread passing obsessed. I believe if any team in 1A beats Riverheads in the next 5 years it will be GW. But that, in my mind, is a long stretch as well. Coaching at 1A needs to get better overall across the board IMO or we'll see Riverheads repeat year after year after year.

Fair enough. Now if we could just talk them into stepping up to those challenges and get them the hell out of 1A. With Dixon leaving Galax they have absolutely no competition at that level now.

Haha thats the problem at the 1A level though, inferior coaching. Not only is Riverheads the most talented, they also have the absolute best coaching at that level. It was and is inexplicable what Galax did in that game. And dont get me started on the goal line sequence late in the game where they had to settle for a field goal. I know Dixon said before the game that the kids liked running more spread... um, okay? And that was the second best coach at the 1A level, it's gravy after those two coaching squads. At 2A I still believe Riverheads would be one of the top teams and I do believe they would have won the title last season.
