A bit of an upset/surprise, Gretna beats Jefferson Forest 12-9 tonight. That's two pretty big wins for Region C tonight with Glenvar and Gretna. I expected both teams to lose their contests.

George Wythe is young and has plenty of talent. I understand George Wythe only returns 4 starters on O and 4 on Defense according to folks I spoke with. George Wythe is another team like Giles that is one year away from being very good.

Congrats to Giles Spartans. So happy for this program and their kids. Giles has been down for a bit, but it looks like the peak of them being down has just turned, and the trend back up is now in full effect. The future is pretty good at Giles for the next few years with what they return and have coming up. I think as early as next year, they are in contention and may push Galax to be the team to come out of the West in 1A. We will see. It's early, and BBurg is down for sure, but it's still a good sign for Giles to come from behind and get a W like this.

Speaking of Radford being 1 year away, I think Giles is one year away from raising some serious he## at the 1A level next year.

I think Appo is probably 17 points better than us. We are young, but have some fast guys at the skilled positions and likely a major college/div 1 type defensive back who is also our quarterback. He's lightening fast and quick, but raw. A first year starter. Our do everything linebacker and running back is as good as there is at LB. He would remind you much of Mason Pollier from Union a couple years ago. If we were to beat Appo, it would take a monumental upset. I just don't see it this year. Next year, I love our chances, or at least, I like our chances to be as good as they have been since we last beat them in 2018.

The running back from Giles has an ungodly first step/lateral quickness.

Final from Goochland, 13-7, Goochland beats King William. Don't let the score fool you. Goochland is the real deal and to me, King William looks like Appomattox in different uniforms with incredible size and athleticism. King William did a whole bunch to hurt themselves in this game with turnovers and penalties. King William is legit and no surprise if they come out of the East and get to Salem.

The Bandana Bunch throw 2 straight fists to the face of Blacksburg, tie the game at 21-21. 9 Minutes left in the game. This young bunch from Giles is exactly that, young, but has some raw talent and there is no quit in em.

King William (Class 2) at Goochland (Class 3) tonight at 7pm on NFHS A heck of a game out East tonight that could possibly feature two teams that play for state titles in their respective classifications. King William at Goochland tonight at 7 pm live on NFHS Network. The folks from King William are talking state title appearance and representing from the East to play in Salem. They feature a top 25 nationally ranked running back with offers from Michigan, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and WF. He is committed to Wake Forest. Goochland is always tough and much more will be known about King William after tonight's game with Goochland.

That explains the offenses look from 2 years ago until now. Totally noticeable and a huge advantage for Ridgeview, if playing a team with similar talent. Coaching certainly matters. Appo is testimony to that. It's very easy to see that Ridgeview is very, very well coached for a 2A High School Football team. Going to be one heck of a year (again) in Region D. Appo is the favorites, but I think Region D is not just the best region in Class 2, it may be the best region in Class 2 by quite a bit.

I got your boys playing in Salem. I know Appo is on the same side. I think the Bears get over the hump this year.

Agree BigWinners. Ridgeview is legit and just my opinion only, a noticeable difference offensively from when I last seen them. I heard the announcer say the QB is a freshman. Somebody needs to start calling the colleges or the colleges need to take notice. This kid has college football written all over him.

I'm watching Ridgeview and JI Burton. I did not see Ridgeview this spring (2021), but I did seem them in 2019 of the fall. Does anyone know if they changed over offensive coordinators during this timeframe? Their offense looks Light Years more advanced from both a scheme and play calling perspective, just totally different and much, much better. Did they do anything different from 2019 to present on offensive coaching? Ridgeview looks very, very, very good, as in....Union good on the line of scrimmage and they got some guys that are playmakers at the skilled positions. The thing that impresses me most about them is their offensive scheme/play calling and sets. Way advanced beyond most 2A schools in Virginia in my opinion.

I wrote this earlier. I'm happier with Crist. I think he will do very well at Radford. I've come to understand that after about 6 decades or 2 generations of football in Bristol, VA, it might not actually be the coaches that are all bad apples, especially when guys that have been there have done remarkably well at other places, ie. Paul Wheeler. Therefore, no offense to Virginia High, but I'm going to side or error on the benefit of the doubt with Crist, and not error on the benefit of the doubt that Virginia High got another Coach that isn't very good. At some point, after about 2 generations, the problem with not winning at Virginia High might not be all of the coaches that have been there. It might actually be.......Virginia High.

I don't know if I would describe Radford as "Super Talent." i wish we had Appo type talent, but our talent is ok/above average for a 2A school. Hopefully Crist does a good job. Time will tell.

I thought we dominated Allegheny on both sides of the ball both up front and at the skilled positions. George Wythe is athletic and if we don't come to play, we will get beat. I believe George Wythe will have a very tough time moving the ball. I also think our special teams will come up big this year. We have some kids that can run and hopefully it shows on special teams with punt and kick returns. I'm hoping for safety and that we get to play Wytheville because Covid is always a concern literally one hour until kickoff.
