Turner does not deserve coach of the year. His team has regressed since the Graham game. If you watched them play Abingdon, you would have thought it was his first year coaching. From preparation to game/time management it was a dismal performance. Owens has/is building a solid program at Central. He will probably continue to beat Union for years to come. I think this could be a very good year for them. IMO he has done more with less than all other coaches this year. Palmer is doing a bang up job year in and year out. This year is no different. I think he is reaping the benefit of having a large amount of talent on his team. Unlike Turner he knows how to put his best players in a position to win. Va High coach, make some noise in the playoffs and you make a case. The loss to Richlands didn't help. In the end I see Central playing Graham for the Region D championship. The winner getting the honor of being COY.

2D M1 will be Central M2 will be Union M4 will be Lee

The Union team that played Graham in September no longer exists. Central is the most improved and best team in M7. Can either beat Graham? Maybe Central if they play a perfect game and win the turnover margin. More than likely though Graham will be representing the region D.

I hope week 2 of the playoffs goes as planned. It's going to be some great football...hopefully Friday and Saturday games 🤞

Yes but Teasley was 1st team All-State.....it would be the equivalent of Graham losing Bradshaw or Union losing Lomax.

Esau Teasley quit playing after the RV game. That was a huge loss for them.

I could see why VHS might be upset......they have the high probability of one and done in the playoffs,,,,,,but looking at how it will pan out, you won't have two teams playing back to back games. Going by PPs VHS would play Richlands in last game of regular season then again in the 1st round of playoffs. Instead you get VHS vs Ridgeview, much better game IMO. I could also see why GC would be pissed since they beat Lee and probably had a much stronger schedule outside of district play.

OLBs were caught inside too many times. No way you run lead seven 10 times in a ball game for 150 yards and say the LBS had a good game. LB's more often than none were getting blocked where they stood vs at the LOS filling the gap. Abg's fullback ate their lunch all night long.

I would also go with option 2. Union has good running backs. They do not have good blocking backs. I'd also work on LB play they need some serious work.

How does Union approach this game? Current weather forecast is cold with chance of rain. Does Union use this as an opportunity to work on problem areas or rest before the playoffs?

Kingsport Times had Union with 149 and Abg with 285 TY. Turner was quoted as saying "Give credit to Abingdon. They’ve got a really good football team. I think they’re going to make some noise in 3A. They’re going to go deep in the playoffs in 3A." Coach Corso was quoted as saying "Not so fast"🙂
