<font color="800000"> For the first time in years the Southwest District and the Highlands District played a round-robin schedule (with the exception of Lee High who refuses to play anyone unless they have too). The SWD went 13-3 in these head to head matchups...Carroll Co. went 3-0, Graham went 3-0, Grundy went 3-0, Richlands went 4-0 (the only SWD team to play Lee), and Tazewell went 0-3. Since there has been talk of combining the two districts over the last couple of years (and possibly in the future), I extrapolated these results into what the final district standings would have looked like if the two districts combined this season. And since Lee didn't play any of the SWD teams except Richlands, plus having seen them play against Bluefield, I projected the results of their games against SWD schools if they did play. Here is how things would have looked... Graham 8-0 Carroll Co. 7-1 Richlands 5-3 Grundy 5-3 Abingdon 4-4 Marion 3-5 Virginia 2-6 Tazewelll 2-6 Lee 0-8 If the two districts had combined into one, the SWD teams would have occupied the top 4 spots in the district. Abingdon, the Highlands District Champs, would have finished in the middle of the pack at #5. </font>

<font color="800000">Quit drawing up plays on your desk calendar and get back to work! <font color="800000">Graham has lots of options if they chose to use them. It would be nice to see a few different plays/formations as the playoffs begin...would give teams more things to worry about other than trying to slow AB! </font>

<font color="800000"> They actully have another kid (Robertson...I think) that got hurt earlier in the year who is probably as good or better than Franklin. He didn't play against Bluefield but I've heard he could be back for the playoffs...maybe maybe someone from JM can confirm this...Willie...MavsRock...OldPirate. Anyway, if he is back and healthy, it could add some to the single wing offense.</font>

<font color="800000"> That sounds exactly like the offensive set that Patrick Co. used against Graham last year in the playoffs. They lined up in an I-formation with an eight man unbalanced line which was butt-cheek to butt-cheek tight and just tried to ram it between the tackles all night.

<font color="800000">I seem to recall a couple of years ago a Graham team that qualified for the playoffs with a 5-5 record. They steam-rolled an undefeated Lebanon team and won the Region Championship. I think the quality of the team has a lot to do with the quality of the schedule...one reason I like the new VHSL Point Rating System, it rewards teams for playing tougher schedules. </font>

Both Honaker and Clintwood missing the playoffs is a real shame especially with Rye Cove basically "stealing" a spot by winning one of the weakest districts in the state. But no system is perfect...regardless of what they (VHSL) do, someone is going to get left out one way or another.</font>

<font color="800000"> Good to see you made it on to the board! I don't think Poca will have much trouble with James Monroe. They only run three or four different plays out of the single wing. If its a direct snap keeper, 99% of the time it will go to the right side (typically Franklin)...look for a possible roll-out/pass off of this play as well...that's the only play that worked against Bluefield and it only worked once. If they decide to hand it off, it will be a trap play back to the left side. Not much else to look for from the "tricky" single wing they run. Most of their offense was to slow in developing against Bluefield...the Beavers were in the backfield before things could get started.</font>

I hope you all keep underestimating Graham...they're small, they're slow, they've never seen speed like we've got...quick reminder, Graham has already played the biggest, fastest team it will see this season and came out on top 28-21 (G.W.). Keep on looking forward to that Regional Title...nothing is standing in your way! </font>

<font color="800000">Lebanon is going to have their hands full again this week. Radford is a good team...decent both running and passing and a pretty good defense. They probably have one of, if not the best kicker in Class A in VA. Lebanon will have to be hitting on all cylinders to pull this game out. Good luck this weekend! </font>

I would almost agree with you except for one thing...look who they've played the last three weeks...Laurel Park (1 win - Dan River), Dan River (1 win - Patrick Co.), and Patrick Co. (2 wins - Laurel Park and Galax). And, from what I've heard, the win over F-C was kind of a fluke...F-C had like 10 fumbles in that game. I'm sure Martinsville is going to give Graham all they've got but their stats are a bit misleading if you ask me. BTW...Pee Wee...you've got a long way to go! LOL

Typically, the SWVAF message board turns into a basketball board after football. Bluefield_Rules is talking about his website/message board that is devoted to WV High School Basketball (hook me up with the address B_R...I don't have it saved on this computer). He gets quite a bit of traffic on it during hoops season.

gmenfootball... You will be a Pee Wee until you have enough posts to move up to Midgets, then Middle School, Junior Varsity, and so on. That is funny though...you, a Pee Wee! LOL Bluefield_Rules... All the thanks for the message board needs to be directed toward Lance...he had suggested this back over the winter but we lost touch on it. When he contacted me yesterday, all I did was say OK!
