  1. [ QUOTE ] LOL.........can't vote republican....I would like our country to prosper sometime soon. It would be nice to have our troops home....at least more home than away. It would also be nice to have a president that can speak. [/ QUOTE ] It would also be nice if our last president hadn't [censored]-footed around with Saddam and Bin Laden for 8 years, and emboldened terrorists to strike us hard on our own soil. I know alot can happen in the next 11 months, but there's alot to be said for the fact that we haven't had a major attack on the U.S. since 9/11/01, and there aren't many of us over the age of 25 who thought we'd be able to see that at this point. Bottom line is the Clinton years gave everyone a false sense of security, and we're paying the price now, Al Gore would've had just as much of a mess to clean up as Bush, and there've been alot of times I was glad he wasn't the one in charge. If there was one reason (and there are several) why I wouldn't vote for Obama or Clinton, it's because they will send to troops home, and the enemies of America won't be far behind. Being a P.O.W. himself and knowing how bad war can be, and how to recognize a bad situation, McCain will due what it takes to WIN THE WAR. If we pull out no, all the men and women who have died will have done it for nothing, and, make no mistake about it, we will be fighting this war on our streets. Plus that, I'm just not comfortable with voting for a guy who's name rhyms with Osama. And Hillary, well, if you want to live in a communist country that bad, hear's your chance.
  2. [ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] "He is, in a world, of $%!*."
  3. Being someone that's worked for DHHR, that pretty frickin hilarious. FYI, in WV, you can own as many Hummers, ATV'S, Boats, and Real Estate, and still get food stamps if you have under $1,107/mo gross income (or claim to anyway), no felony drug convictions, and have less than $2,000.00 in cash or in the bank. Only in America. That kind of thing is actually happening in most states. Believe it. And to top it all off, everyone I've worked with in that field gripes about it but 80-90% have openly stated the're voting for Obama or Clinton. Real smart huh?
  4. [ QUOTE ] Gotta admit....he isn't a bad driver...won a championsip. I like the fact he doesn't take crap, but as a professional....you handle things differently. You can't go punching people in the face everytime you turn around. I mean...Wallace would get mad at Earnhardt Sr. ....but he just threw Gatorade bottles at him while he drove by. [/ QUOTE ] So "standing up" to a reporter and pushing him makes him something, yeah right. Stewart just needs an old-fashioned butt-kicking. Plus that if he had any common sense, he'd know that he only adds fuel to the media's fire when he throw's his little tnntrums. If I were Joe Gibbs, he'd have been fired years ago, if I'd ever hired him to start with.
  5. [ QUOTE ] would have been great if they played this year...dynamics of a team change too much each year to really compare next years teams to the ones that won the titles this year. [/ QUOTE ] Who know what those 2 will be like in 2 years, but it wouldn't have been that good of a game this year. 45-10 LSU if they'd played this year.
  6. I heard that the coach from Bath Co. has applied for the job. I think his name is Jones? Maybe some Virginia folks can tell me if that would be a good thing or not.
  7. That is a major advantage for Graham if it happens. Most High school teams, even veteran teams needs 2-3 weeks to really get into sinc, and having already played someone makes a big difference.
  8. The overall reaction to my last most didn't surprise me too much. I wasn't at all saying we shouldn't use common sense practices in taking care of our world. You do reap what you so most of the time, but the problem hear is, let's say that global warming is totally the product of burning fossil fuels. Does anyone honestly think that all of the politians and big money people are going to sit on the sidelines and go out of business? If you do, you're living in a dream world. True story, My wife's grandfather worked for GM in the 1960's and saw a carburator for a big-block V-8 that got around 50 MPG, and it was quickly locked up in a safe. And that's just in America, much less in totalian countries like China. Problem with America are almost never willing to sacrifice for a cause, we like are long trip vacations are big cars, and just overall wastefull lifestyle. I love my country, but we've been sowing the seeds of our own destruction for decades, and it isn't by global warning. Barak Obama, Gearge Bush, Hillary Clinton or John McCain will not be the one to fix our problems, it has to start in our homes and communities by admitting that we have problams like allowing drugs, underage sex, alcohol, lack of work ethic, and lack of self-respect to penatrate our homes and communities. Until we fix what's wrong right in front of our faces, we will not have any hope other affecting change in our country. As for politic's, well, given the fact that under 1/2 the population usually votes, over 1/2 of the population needs to quit whining about who's in charge. Back to global warming, I said earlier it's happedning, but I believe there's little that can be done about it, especially since I belieive it's been happening for about 4,000 years without much human influence, and it's not even in the top 10 lists of things threatening us in the USA.
  9. [ QUOTE ] I think that we do have an adverse affect on the environment. It is just hard for me to believe that emitting tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, that shouldn’t be there, has to have some sort of effect on the environment. While I do believe most of the data that is collected by scientist is legit, it is the people with no scientific background, such as Al Gore and Michael Crichton, who take the data and manipulate it in order to fill their own agenda. The numbers can’t lie, but the people that publish them can make them say anything they want them to. While I do tend to side with Al Gore’s point of view...I still don’t like the joker. He can set there and tell everyone to quit driving cars and such but then his "carbon footprint" is bigger than everyone on this board's combined (kind of hypocritical if you ask me.) The way I see it is, if global warming is indeed a fact and is really caused by CO2 emission then there is absolutely no way that we as a country, or a world even, will be able to make the changes necessary to counteract the damage already inflicted. Making all of the necessary changes costs a lot of money. Most of the people that can afford to "Go Green" are too spoiled or they just don’t care enough to make the changes, and then you have everyone else that couldn’t afford it even if they wanted to. [/ QUOTE ] Unfortunatly man did irreversable damage to the environment when Adam and Eve failed to understand the concept of "DO NOT EAT OF THAT TREE" we've paid the price ever-since, and the environment of just part of that price. As far as global warming, it's happened over the past 100 or so years for sure, but I don't think it's at all a new thing. Anyone who takes 2 minutes to study earth history knows that there used to be glaciers probably less than 100 miles from WV, so the warning and melting of the poles is what I believe to be the continuation of a process that never stopped after the flood of Noah. Even if you didn't have all the artificial pollutants, global warming would still happen. Many volcanic eruptions take place every decade that equal or exceed all of the worldwide air pollutions for several years time. The world will eventually end, whether we burn oil or not. I can't remember it right off, but there's a verse in I or II Peter that prophecys many people in this current debate "professing themsleves to be wise, they became fools". And if so many in politics or so concerned with "going green", perhaps they shouldn't be cruising aroung so much in their private jets which burn vastly more fuel than even the biggest cars on the road. The whole environmental movement IMO is another excuse for the government to regulate and control our lives, and it's disappointing to see so many otherwise highly intelligent people fall for it. I do think we should get away from non-reusable and fossil fuels, it's a major risk to national security and the economy that has to be fixed.
  10. [ QUOTE ] Unfortunately for him, he had to face Bluefield twice in 2002 and was badly out-coached in the playoff game by Coach Simon [/ QUOTE ] I'll agree with that. My 7-year old daughter could've out coahed the Maverick's staff that night.
  11. What really stings about this one is this, only loss of the season for a Boston team-the Super Bowl to New York-YE-OUCH!!!!!!! In other news, Bill Bellichek and his staff just committed suicide-cause of death, falling on their swords.
  12. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] James Monroe had not sent the contract...just came today. [/ QUOTE ] Good thing it got signed before, and if, Jackson becomes the coach again. I have serious doubts the series will continue past the newly signed contract if Jackson is named coach. He was notorious for scheduling as many cupcakes as possible... [/ QUOTE ] Then why did we start playing Bluefield again during his last season in 2002? We also had Mt View then, and Wyoming East when they were on fire. I kinda think Bluefield's on reason he's coming back. Every time he goes to a bad weather game he probably thinks about the 3-0 loss to Bluefield that last year. After watching the championship game, he probably decided he had unfinished business. I've been as tough a critic of Jackson as anyone, but anyone who thinks that James Monroe will somehow be an easier opponent if he comes back is in for a nasty surprise.
  13. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] He always wears a sleeveless hoodie. Usually its gray but I guess he wears red for special occasions. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah like losing in a superbowl [/ QUOTE ] I'd say that'll be that last time you see him whering that for a while. But he showed more class than he usually does, he actually spoke to Coughlin.
  14. Great game, it was refreshing to see an old-fashioned, in your face defensive game. Guess the Patriots didn't spend enough time taping Giant practices. It was also nice for someone to finally figure out that beating up Tom Brady is your best chance of beating New England. In other news, the state of Massachusetts has officially forbiden the public use of the word "Manning", a crime punishable without trial by death by stoning.
  15. [ QUOTE ] If they have decided I don't know why they would hold it back. Put it out there and let's move on. Some will like it and some won't. So what's new..... [/ QUOTE ] I don't think it's a done deal. The school board still has to go through the formalities of posting the job and doing interviews. If Jackson want's the job though, it'll be hard for anyone to beat him out in Monroe Co. It could be several weeks before it's "official", but I think it will happen.
  16. Looking at those age numbers for New England, Bradshaw might be a big part of the Giant's offense. If I were the Off-Coordinater for NY, I'd try some tosses, swing passes and screens to #44 against what's probably a slower linbacker corps, don't be suprised to see Jacob's and Bradshaw on the field together alot. Considering that Bradshaw didn't play in the regular season game, he has the potential to be a real difference maker. Remember last year that the Colt's used the same strategy against Chicago with Rhodes power running and Addia catching 10 or 12 passes for over 100 years, and Rhodes ran for well over 100. One thing that NY has to do that Indy didn't in the Super Bowl is score more TD'S than FG's. Contrary to what Plexico Burress says, 18 points probably won't be enough for the Giants to win this game.
  17. Everything that I'm hearing is that Donnie Jackson is probably going to be back on the Maverick's sidline in August. I keep earing alot of rumors, but none of them contradict eachother. Last one I heard is that Scott Thompson will coach at Peterstown Middle School, and Ben Thornton will be an assistant under Jackson. Considering that Ben is Jackson's cousin, I'd say that very likely. While I guess this is still a rumor, I heard this from what I consider to be very reliable sources.
  18. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] One thing I do want to know from you is this-If Fred Simon cares so much about his players getting to the next level, then why is the kicker the only member of the 2004 team playing D-1 ball?, because that's as talented of a HS team as I've ever seen in this area. [/ QUOTE ] Not true..Daniel Wells is playing ball at Marshall [/ QUOTE ] My bad, I'd forgotten about him. Probably because of how bad Marshall's been lately, nothing to do with Wells though. Before that though, I think they only had Isabelle and Amaker in the 90's do it. Truth is Bluefield over the last 20 years Bluefield is probably averaging maybe 1 more D-1 athlete per decade in Monroe Co is. As a hardcore Maverick fan, I'll even say that probably shouldn't be happening. One thing that has hurt JM and Giles players trememdously is the single wing. I'm still neutral on the offense, but it doesn't help your recruiting status.
  19. [/ QUOTE ]Mavs you are a psycho and a liar... the kid that you speak of was well liked and allowed to make up days from weightlifting as is every other player.... I know personally that Coach Simon and the assistants help any and all student athletes who pursue their dreams of moving on to the next level... I dont know exactly where you get your information from but they dont know a thing about our program............ as far as your other accusations get real man, really get real!!! Suggestion 1. Mind your own buisness and stay out of the affairs of people who are doing the right thing. Suggestion 2. Take notes...........Dismissed. [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ]You know all of this stuff really ticks me off... The kid that you are refering too was a really nice guy and respectable young man. He spoke to me on many occaisions about how the programs were similar and how he looked forward to playing for Bluefield. I hate that he didn't get to. He just all of sudden left but up until that point he had gotten much stronger increased his speed and I believed that had he made till august he would have increased his knowledge of the game. When you guys get on here and bicker/ argue you insult those kids at James Monroe and other schools. Sadly enough you probably arent well connected to any of them. I am and I hate that you paint a picture of the students / faculty/ and staff at JM who are really a nice group of people. I am in costant contact with so many of the aforementioned and none of them ever say dumb stuff like you did in your post... you should stop. [/ QUOTE ] Oh boy. Ya know, I might not live in Bluefield, but I went to school there 4 years, and worked there another 2 years after that, so I know alot about that team. Plus that I like to study my enemy. There was even 1 year where I went to as many Beaver games as I did at James Monroe. Your passionate defense of Simon tells me your either a relative or a very close friend. You mentioned taking notes, you should note that not too many Bluefield folks have come to his defense, that should tell you something. As far as X's and O's he's a pretty good coach, and yeah they've been very successfull, but he didn't exactly inherit a sorry program. One thing I do want to know from you is this-If Fred Simon cares so much about his players getting to the next level, then why is the kicker the only member of the 2004 team playing D-1 ball?, because that's as talented of a HS team as I've ever seen in this area.
  20. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] One name to consider is Matt Dixon. [/ QUOTE ] Who is the Dixon guy [/ QUOTE ] James Monroe Quarter back for the 1999 team. I think he's been teaching at Richlands, or so I've heard. I went to school with him, and he's a pretty coll guy. Only thing is it would be his first HS coaching job, and he's only 25 or 26 years old.
  21. [ QUOTE ] he's just losing sleep about next football season. its already been a tough task preparing [/ QUOTE ] I know you guys lost several seniors, how are things looking in Bluefield for next year in your opinion?
  22. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] On a related note, Fred Simon creates a fertile breeding ground for those who hate Bluefield. Did five of those ten losses that Witt had come at the hands of Bluefield? No wonder Fred Simon creates a fertile breeding ground for James Monroe fans to hate Bluefield. [/ QUOTE ] No, more him being a butthole than anything. [/ QUOTE ] please give reasons for that analogy, becuase the only ones i can think of is the fact that he stomps JM every year in the playoffs. please no he said she said stuff either... Provide solid examples. [/ QUOTE ] -Tripping a kid from Pulaski running down the sidelines a few years back, and yeah, WDBJ 7 cought it on tape -Joining the Mavericks in a postgame team prayer after the Beavers semi-final win in 2005, and then refusing to do so after the Beavers loss in Lindside in 2006. -I know of a kid who was going to play ball at Bluefield last year who had a lot of family trouble last spring, and Simon wouldn't even give him a break from weightlifting to get it straitened out. -Oh yeah, that 2004 title game where they were still throwing the ball late in the game with a 69-24 score. And there ARE MANY others that I haven't confirmed myself, but even Bluefield fans have talked about Simon giving his players 0 help getting to the next level. Anyone else besides me wonder why a team as talented as Bluefield has so few players in D-1?
  23. [ QUOTE ] On a related note, Fred Simon creates a fertile breeding ground for those who hate Bluefield. Did five of those ten losses that Witt had come at the hands of Bluefield? No wonder Fred Simon creates a fertile breeding ground for James Monroe fans to hate Bluefield. [/ QUOTE ] No, more him being a butthole than anything.
  24. [/ QUOTE ] One thing is certain, I would much rather face a Don Jackson led James Monroe team than a David Witt led James Monroe team. Furthermore, it was hard to dislike James Monroe as much with such a classy individual in Coach Witt leading the program. If Jackson does return it'll make hating James Monroe so very easy. [/ QUOTE ] On a related note, Fred Simon creates a fertile breeding ground for those who hate Bluefield. As far as people respecting Witt more than Jackson, I haven't really seen it myself.
