i would think and hope that a state title for bluefield would mean a lot no matter who they play. i just feel that a rematch with a local team like mv would be good for the whole area and would mean just as much to bluefield or at least i hope so. thinking about revenge agaist poca could cause a great bluefield team to try to hard and not play their best football. i think mv bluefield would be a better state title game but that is just my opinion. and we all know what opinions are worth lol

other than a college team i do not think that there is another field anywhere that has the parking that mitchell stadium has and the ease of getting to the stadium and back to your car is the best. and i agree no state title game would have as many fans as the graham/beaver game brings.but still would love to see a title game here again like in 89 for graham and i think that wv should let mitchell stadium host the playoffs soon this area has a lot to offer in places to eat shop and sleep for a title game. so maybe the powers that be in wv will soon see this and bring the title game to bluefield

graham gets the winner of the rustburg gretna here next week more than likely on sat evening.

because of the sniper this year in the eastern part of va some of the teams did not play that week and just finished their regular season last week. so the state semi are not until next weekend so that helped eastern teams catch up with the rest of the state.

i really hope the mv wins today just think how it will look for our area to have mv and bluefield in a rematch and for the state title, now that would be great and should be motivation for mv to play their best game of the year to get the rematch against bluefield for the title. so go mv and win this game for everyone in southern wv

if you are talking about the gretna rustburg game it is today and 1:30 at gretnas field.

does anyone know how martin is doing as of now and will he be ready to play next week and if not do you think that the backups will be ready to play by then on both sides of the line.

grundy gave graham all they could handle in the first half and some young kids stepped up and played a good game for graham also

i would have to say this has to be one of the best games that bluefield has played in a long time the team showed a lot of heart on sat. congrats to bluefield and good luck in your next game.

the only thing that i hope is that this board does not get as nasty as the other one did. so far it has been civil and i do not seen any reason for anyone to get mean or anything with anyone that posts on here it is each and everyones own opinion that is posted even if i may not agree with them or you may not agree with what i may say but still need to be civl with each other this is a great message board and i hope it stays that way. and lance you are doing a great job of keeping it up and running, thanks to you and the gman for this forum.

maybe you are trying to give grundy something to place on their locker room door about graham like the bristol paper did for graham in the earlier game and what some fans did on the old board did also knocking graham but all that is in the past and this is a new game.

the local paper here in blfd. isnt picking graham to win in a blow out and i have not seen any that were. the only time i have read a paper that had anything to say about graham and grundy game was in the first game this year and it was the bristol paper that picked grundy to win over graham because they said that grahams bradshaw would have to score 6 td to beat grundy and he could not do that and grundy would win the game. and we all know how it turned out. that being said i think this game is going to be a lot closer and i would not even try to pick a winner of this game. i just would like to know which papers are picking graham in a blow out. none up here.

if you dont think that bradshaw doesnt like to hit wavenator look at the video from the martinsville game and ask the defender that he run over on the td if he doesnt like to hit. after viewing that video then come back and say he doesnt like to hit, he run over two defenders and scored.

it would not bother me if we beat grundy and all i hear is only because it was not snowing because a win is a win no matter what the weather is, both have to play in the same weather. but as anyone will attest to speed is hurt by wet or muddy field and the passing game is helped because the receivers know where they are going and the defence does not. but still both have to play in the same conditions.

i have to agree about the state of grundys field houses and play clocks but the visitors bleachers and the field still need some work in the future which i feel that grundy will do in the future as they continue to win in football.

poca. has not been consolidated yet due to pressure from the residents of the community on the school board and supervisors in tazewell county. but at some point this pressure will not help and it will happen. only a matter of time.

unfortunatly consolidation is a part of life and is not a bad thing when a school loses students. it costs money to keep a very small school open and unless the people of the community want to pay the cost of keeping a school open then i do not think that the rest of the residents of that county should pay to keep the school open and it should be consolidated with others in the county. this would help all students education by being able to offer more subjects to the students which they would not be able to get at a small school. and some of these are needed for college admission.

i agree with you g man but i do see in the future in tazewell county some day only having two high schools. one in eastern tazewell county and one it western end but i probably wont be alive when it happens. i think that because both tazewell high and graham high and poca. enrollment are about the same as richlands if you combine the three. but not for sure. i cannot see continued spending on schools as enrollment drops. the students lose because they cannot get the classes that a larger school can offer and this hurts them when they go to college. so one day if enrollment continues the way it is it just might happen which i think will not be a bad thing to consolidate the schools. i realize that people from the schools would like to keep their school open but to what expense. i do not think that tazewell county can continue to keep 4 high schools for ever. but this is just my opinion and as we all know what they are worth.

i thought that this was a football forum not a political forum i have a son at graham and i know that their enrollment is what the vhsl states it is in the top 3 grades and yes the population at graham has dropped over the years since i went to graham in 73 but that has nothing to do with the state gov. or the vhsl it has to do with the fact that people move away from here. i think out of the kids i graduated with maybe a handful are still here in bluefield a lot have left for other states and areas. that is why the student population has dropped in swva. not a lot of jobs here since the mining industry has dropped. but still i think that all the teams in swva play great football no matter what division they play in. i remember when gate city and graham played in the old swd some of the best games around and gate city gave us all we could handle and then some.so do not blame the vhsl blame the people that leave your area for other areas for the loss of students.

the only good thing about tazewells field is that it still has grass on it instead of mud at mid field and on the sidelines granted seating is poor but i think as far as the mud last time i was there i did not see any which is better for bradshaw less slipping if it is muddy at mitchell stadium. that was what i was concidering. i do not like the seating at tazewell high.

well said man that is not the way fans from our area should act we need to show everyone that both graham and beaver fans have a lot of class. and we are not like others that get on the message boards and rip other teams and players. we may not like each other during our game but after that game i support beaver in all their games because it shows good on our area. and again well said.
