  1. I'm glad you all see through the Obama facade. Come up here to PA, where I owned a girl in Constitutional Law Thursday for drinking too much of the Obama Kool-Aid. Sad thing is, there's so many more like her...
  2. Duh, they treated Bradshaw differently than Ahmad Brooks. I've repeated that ad nauseum in this thread, and yet it slips by everyone unnoticed. What else can I do to draw attention to this? Put it in a different color than grey so it stands out? Slightly off the point, but your premise that Brooks was on the team unequivocally is incorrect. He was booted out before his senior season. In fact, that's one of my strongest arguments AGAINST the treatment being race-related. Again, any claim regarding racial inequality is patently absurd. This isn't in direct response to GMan, but I love the people who likely haven't the slightest affiliation with UVA trying to claim that our policies are mandated on (as one claimed earlier, and I paraphrase) "all emotion, no basis." Just look 75 miles east on 460 if you want to see this policy in its rarest form, case-and-point. Facts don't lie, brothers. Branden Ore ring a bell? Anyone else want to call the kettle black? Please, even the Hampton roads newspapers that fawn so much over Virginia Tech wouldn't dare try that. Proof? Here's a slightly dated article for you: http://hamptonroads.com/2008/05/give-beamer-credit-rose-case-no-medals-please. If ANY school in this two-state area has had anything resembling a policy on dismissing players, it's been UVA. BTW, Peter Lalich was given the boot Thursday. Two games into his sophomore season. A couple weeks too late, but there you go. Yet again, Groh made the right decision with regards to personnel. It's the only thing he's done mostly right...
  3. I'd rather get someone as far outside the Groh coaching tree as I could possibly imagine. Though Prince was a GREAT coordinator, and I wish he could've stayed around longer. If he doesn't cut the mustard at KSU, he might have his chance...
  4. Thanks for putting this in perspective. VT hasn't won jack squat yet. I still wouldn't even favor them to win the Coastal. Miami's far and away the best team I've seen on this side of the conference this season, and until they give me a reason to vote otherwise, the Hurricanes are my pick. Boston College, Duke, and UVA are should-wins for VT. Make them 5-0. The three in doubt are FSU, Miami, and Maryland. Those three could really go any way. In addition, those 3 are right in a row. I'd lay a cool amount on saying VT won't win all of those three. I really think they can't be favored against Miami. But let's not count the chickens before they hatch.
  5. If you're joking, I can appreciate the jabs. One day, maybe when I'm 50, I'll be able to retort. ;) But I really can't tell if you all are serious anymore. If you are, then you're living in some odd fantasy land, where 6'6''/310 O-linemen can't block 6'2''/240 DTs. Losses to Chaminade-caliber teams don't happen in football, far too much talent discrepancy. But if you're not, then I appreciate the Hokie humor.
  6. I called a Cubs/Rays World Series in July. And I think I might be patting myself on the back for that one, if the Angels don't mess it up.
  7. Sounds like a realistic fan. And a good fan. And I love the folksy metaphors. :).
  8. I agree with your fantasy league analysis: he wouldn't see the light of day in either of my 2 leagues (8 and 12 teams). And I also tend to agree with your statement that he likely won't be a 25-carry-per-game back. 15-20 would work fine for him, I believe. He's got big play potential, too.
  9. Haw haw haw. Got a plethora of other highly-ranked sports to cheer for :D.
  10. I know I've given OSU too much credit. I said it'd be 38-10, and it ended up being 35-3. I love to see the Buckeyes get exposed on primetime, partly for this very reason.
  11. John Casteen has crowed for years like an alpha rooster because he increased the endowment by $1.5B. It's all a money game at UVA. And it's very sad. I think Groh lost the team tonight. In Week 3. I really, truly think we go 1-11 this year. You bring up the point in trust, and it's fairly interesting here. I think the coaching staff all trusts each other here. At least it appears so outwardly. But the administration doesn't trust Groh. The fans don't trust Groh. The fans don't trust the administration. And the administration's trying to leech off the fans. It's a vicious cycle. Perhaps we'll be able to compete by 2015, when whatever coach after Groh retires of his own volition has his first class through there. Congratulations on you victory today, too. GT is better than what many thought at the beginning of the season. I think it's between VT/Miami/UNC for the Coastal this year. I still think Miami gets it, but I think VT will give them a ride.
  12. I'm scared that 1-11 won't do it. Groh's signed through 2011, and at $1.875M to buy him out at the end of the season, that's $5.625M to buy him out. Plus the money that we'd have to throw at a reasonable head coach. Frankly, my dear, Casteen and Littlepage don't give a damn. This is the same administration that bused the UVA band to Boston College one year because it was $18.03 cheaper than flying. I'm not joking. Money's the bottom line, and as long as they're netting a profit, they could care less what the record is. And they are, with the massive VAF increases.
  13. Well, at least we're 8th in the nation in field hockey... 45-10, 4th quarter. I would take Bryan Stinespring right now. I'm not joking, I'd love to have him on our sidelines. At least only 75% of what he does is counter-intuitive. At least we have 2 weeks to think about this before we're double-digit underdogs at Duke.
  14. I've come to the realization that we were the luckiest team in NCAA history last year. We're laughable right now, just a pathetic program. A program that rushes 4 times and passes 23 in the 1st half with the 2nd-best RB duo in the ACC. A program that goes 5-wide on a 4th-and-inches from the UConn 32. A program that scored all of 13 points in the 3rd quarter ALL LAST SEASON, and ZERO this season. It's just sickening.
  15. If we lose by 50, will our administration take the hint? How about 1-11?
  16. Gas is so speculative, though. Of course, the gasoline production will be at only about 77-83% over the next two weeks (as nearly 20% of the refineries are estimated to be shut down from Ike). Of course, that'll drive up demand. But never discount the media's penchant for running the stories of "ballooning gas prices" down our throat. Oil is traded internationally as a commodity, and so is subject to investing whims. OPEC itself said that, all things being equal, Americans should be paying $2.20 for gas, based on strict supply and demand. And you know what? I tend to believe them. Regardless, I think we can all agree that the gas situation is shameful.
  17. I think this is right. 6-0 in '99. Dang, we're back into the days when I was at Graham.
