I don't think that will happen because they will not play any Single A teams.

I still find it hard to believe that Bluefield still only has 9 games. That is just stupid. the state should do something about it. They're going to have to go out of state and find a game like Graham used to have to do. It's BS that people won't step their games up and take on the challenge.

I'm Glad to see that we have C-Burg back on the schedule. It's always good to play those teams on that side. We used to play them and Salem along with blacksburg.

AJ was good but I don't even think he was the best in his family. Cortez and Jermaine Penn.

Who do you guys think are the best players to play at each school over the last 25-30 years, and maybe the best in the area over the same amount of time?

If I'm not mistaken Tony was offered the job from the beginning. at the time I dno't think he could devote enough time to take the head job.

Bridgewater is a Div 3 school in the ODAC with Emory, Guilford College, Washington and Lee, Hollins, Roanoke College, ...etc.

I know that you try to do what is best for the team but if you have a player that may be able to play at the next level then your job as a coach is to do whatever it takes to get that player ready. At 6'3 you need to take that player and try to make him the best all around player that he can be and not just stick him in the post. The best example that I can come up with and I know people will agree with this is the Patterson kid that played at Bluefield about 4 years ago. He played guard all his life until he got to BHS. His Soph. year he grew a few inches and could jump out of the gym and what did they do with him? They put him at the 4 where he stayed for 3 years and it hurt his chances in the long run. He had a Div 1 Guard frame and could have been polished into a really good guard but that never happened.

When you talk about D1 are you considering Radford (small) or UNC (big) as the levels of div 1? Div 1 players dominate high school every night and can take the game over when needed.

LOL!!!!! D1 at what positions? At 6'3 175 pounds Ponder would get killed in the post. He's not even dominating high school basketball. He would have to play the 2 or the 3 in college and I don't see that happening due to the positions he playing now. He has to be able to shoot the 3 and have a mid range game. Hammond does have decent size and skills to maybe play the 2 or 3 but no where close to D1. He would be fortunate to play at BSC or even BC. Better take the first offer that comes.

There is no way in the world anyone could compare this team and say that they are even anywhere close to competing with the '95 and '96 teams. Dexter and maybe and I repeat maybe ansel could have played on those teams. No one else on tis years team would have even made the team for either of those years. If you look at the players and the positions there is no way to even argue that. Look at '95 1) Gaither 2) Ellison 3) Wells 4) Holland 5) Martin 6) Parker 7) C. Pannell 8) Isabelle '96 Team Gaither, Panell, Martin, Wright, Isabelle ...Etc Can you say LOADED?

Good luck to all of these guys. I hope you guys have good careers and get an education through your football. Please don't be quitters like the last few guys who couldn't handle college ball. There were a few that got injured though, like Chase and Britton so I definately won't call them quitters. Keep up the hard work and represent your families and the town of Bluefield, Virgina for the rest of your lives. Be proud that you are G-Men.

The '97 team was good one. So was Graham's '97 team. that was a great game with the Beavers coming out on top 19-15, I think.

J.C. is coaching at South Carolina State. He has coached at Michigan State and Fork Union also. He is doing well.
