at High Point they put the kids up in the RADISSON, apparently the admin. doesn't want campers on campus or something like that. To their credit there has been tons of construction going on campus and the dorms are top of the line, probably don't want them destroyed is their reasoning.

Prayers for the entire team! The accident occurred during the High Point University camp. The team was being shuttled from a gym to their motel room and they were hit (t-bone) style by the driver. Several suffered minor injuries but all were shook up a bit. Keep these kids and coaches in your prayers, they are all great guys.

I suppose that you are right, pro wrestling is considered by many to be a total waste of time. But it sure as heck makes some money and has made a lot of money for our athletic programs. By the way the top drawing t.v. program for several years now, consistently has been pro wrestling. The suspension of disbelief is required when watching a movie, a tv show and big time wrestling. The last time I checked the movies that we watch at the theater and the t.v. programs we watch are "just as fake" as pro wrestling but nobody ever complains about those things.Whatever genre you prefer in most cases you have to suspend your belief for a few minutes or hours to be entertained. Well mister wise ASS Jerry Lawler is a WWE employee and he performed at a show we held in GRUNDY last year. Golddust was performing on Smackdown and he performed at TWIN VALLEY TWICE AND RICHLANDS ONCE while under contract with THE WWE. In all three occassions we received PERMISSION from WWE to book these two performers. Flair can make appearances and had the NWA NOT TRASHED McMahon and the WWE he would have appeared prior to the show with the meet and greet book signing and he would have appeared in the wrestling ring to receive a plaque from NWA ALL STAR WRESTLING. If WWE talent cannot appear at a wrestling show, as you have stated, please explain to me how GOLDDUST, JERRY LAWLER, MICK FOLEY, STEVE AUSTIN, AND others are appearing at book signings, promotions and other events throughout the country. Heck even RODDY PIPER could have appeared after the Flair cancellation and we decided that it wasn't worth the hassle and expense to bring him in, by the way he currently is appearing on WWE PROGRAMMING and he too can be booked through the GILLESPIE AGENCY along with MICK FOLEY. Who appeared recently on a WWE pay per view. You, are misinformed and uneducated when it comes to the world of professional athletes and booking entertainment in general. The Great Buchanan Bash, scheduled for June 28th has been cancelled. Due to the WWE cancelling Ric Flair's appearance at the event, the event coordinators decided that it would be better to cancel the event than to try and find a suitable replacement at such a short notice. I honestly don't think that there is a suitable replacement myself. The reason given "Management has decided that it is not in the best interest of the company to have Mr. Flair appear at another promotions event at this time." The day before we were given a 100% approval by the same person, the director of talent relations and assistant to John Laurenitis. The Twin Valley Athletic Boosters apologize for any inconvenience that this may have called. If you have purchased tickets to the event, you may receive a full refund by taking the ticket back to the person or place of purchase. The tickets must be turned in to receive a refund. Refunds will be given until June 27th. To voice your displeasure with the WWE's decision feel free to contact their Ct. Office at 203-352-8600.

Anyone planning on attending the GREAT BUCHANAN BASH ON June 28th should contact the High School at 276-259-7818, or WMJD radio station 276-935-7227 on MONDAY MORNING. The WWE recently contact the Boosters club and it appears that they might pull Ric Flair from the show. This is still a might and it has not been confirmed yet. In the event that this happens, we feel that it would not be fair to have the show and then replace the appearance with someone else, it would be best to just cancel the show. Therefore, in the event that he is not permitted to attend the show, it WILL BE CANCELLED AND EVERYONE WILL RECEIVE A FULL REFUND. In order to find out if the show is cancelled please contact one of the above numbers on Monday and they will tell you if the show is still on or if it has been cancelled. The reason for the problem? The WWE pulled Ric Flair from the NWA HALL OF FAME CEREMONY and NWA higher ups posted some very angry comments regarding McMahon and company, this evidently caused him to intervene and cancel over 30 scheduled bookings for Flair through his personal agent Ms. Elaine Gillespie. Although, his appearance was Okayed by John Laurenitis it appears now that the "the WWE contract has priority" over any other bookings. We have been in contact with the Stanmford CT. office and they will let US KNOW THIS WEEKEND IF HE WILL BE PERMITTED TO ATTEND! Once again, sorry for the confusion, but everything will be cleared up on Monday. People, especially liberals love to blame big oil for this problem, it goes much deeper than that. First of all the liberals literally put so many restrictions on oil refineries that today we have approximately 120 some oil refinereries in operation in America. Back around the late 80's and early 90's we had nearly double that many. Common sense economics tells me that if you have lower production and still a high demand that the price is going to go up! In addition to that the liberals don't want us drilling in ANWAR or off any of our coasts. What do they expect? In addition to blaming big oil for such HUGE profits, this needs to be considered. 1. 40 + Billion in profits sounds like a lot and it is but it only equals a 7% profit!!!!! 2. These same politicians that what to take Big Oils profits and give it to the people, which is pure socialism at it's best, is forgeting that only 1% of big oil is executive owned, over 50 percent is the average joe American that owns stock and the rest is money that is tied up in retirements and pensions. The liberals give the impression that BIG OIL is 3 or 4 guys sitting on a hill somewhere getting rich out of their mind.That simply is not the case.The fact is that retirements, pensions and capitalistic minded Americans will be the LOSERS! 3. These same liberals that are trying to win the poor, ignorant, uniformed citizens vote, tell the citizenry that they are going to STICK IT TO BIG OIL, in order to win votes. It sure as heck sounds good, but these same liberals are giving money hand over fist to BIG FARMS AMERICA, who just happened to make over 200% profit. The first Annual BRAGGING RIGHTS COMPETITION will take place at TWIN VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL on May 31st 2008. All area football,basketball and baseball players are welcome to attend. There is a $15.00 entry fee for each participant, each participant will receive a T-Shirt. EVENTS INCLUDE Bench Press (185 lbs.) maximum reps 40 Yard Sprint 100 Yard Sprint Farmers Carry (80 lb dumbells in each hand for fifty yards and back) Tire Flip (flip a huge coal truck tire past the finish line) Tire Toss (don't worry its not the same tire as above) Truck Push (push a truck 40 yards) Standing Broad Jump Shuttle Run Obstacle Course Players may compete in all or as many events as they choose. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category. Players can also earn team points for their school, the top 10 in each category will earn points for themselves as well as earning points for their school. A TEAM AWARD will be given out at the end of the event recognizing the school with the most points. The winning school will receive a trophy and BRAGGING RIGHTS FOR 2008.
