  1. thanks for satisfying my curiosity. i thought it had been awhile since anyone besides bluefield beat us in the regular season.
  2. I was thinking the other day, do any mavs fans know who the last team we lost to in the regular season besides bluefield and when it was??? This isn't to stir any controversy i was just curious.
  3. joseph from the old testament. he showed faith in God when he was sold into slavery by his brothers, he resisted the lure of a beauiful woman, and he showed compassion instead of tking revenge on his brothers.
  4. I know a lot of discussion went on earlier in the week so i'm not trying to repeat anything but my internet has been screwed up all week and i am just now getting respond to the win over keyser and look forward to friday against tolsia. First off, my hat is off to you guys in the keyser game. You guys moved the ball and didn't turn it over on offense and there were very few penalties. And how bout the defense, Wow that is the best I have seen them play all year. Just come out friday night with that same discipline and focus and everything else should take care of itself. Great job to the coaches as well. The coaches seemed to have scouted independence and keyser very well and i'm sure they have done the same for tolsia. A final word to the guys. You guys are playing great football right now and it shows. Focus on the objective at hand, Tolsia. They are a good football team but so are we. Just take them seriously and outplay them friday night!! Hope all you guys have a good thanksgiving tomorrow and i look forward to making some noise on friday. GO MAVS!!!!
  5. Just wanted to encourage all the guys on the team and wish them good luck for Sat. game. You guys are the better team. Just go out there and play mistake free football for four quarters. Don't be thinking about who we could play next week, just take care of business against Keyser. See everyone Sat.
  6. From the looks of their schedule they are somewhat inconsistent. The barely beat Frankfort and Berckley Springs but they also beat a couple maryland teams. We just have to work hard this week in preperation, especially on defense. It looks like the coaches figred some things out defensively against independence after we gave up 20 plus in our last three regular season games. Keyser is obviously much better than independence, I just hope coach Witt and Coach Ballard has a good defensive scheme. I think we will be ok offensively, especially since keyser hasn't seen our offense before. Mavs, have a good week of practice and i'll see you guys Sat.
  7. great job Mavs, hate i couldn't be there but i felt pretty confident. enjoy the win over the weekend and then get geared up for round 2. see everyone in lindside next week!!!!
  8. good luck to all southern WV schools, except independence of course. sorry no offense
  9. great job to the Mavs on their 5th undefeated regular season in 13 years of existence. let's just get ready for independence and take one week at a time. don't look ahead to second round, semis, or wheeling. take one game at a time, take every game seriously and just play some solid maverick football.
  10. congrats to bluefield on a very impressive win. did you guys just have that great of a game or is scott really overrated
  11. man somebody has a big ego. it's easy to stand ignorantly in Va and say that kinda of stuff when you know you will never have to back up your big mouth.
  12. you may beat us but at least we won't be breaking out the rule book and crying about it 5 days later.
  13. could we shut this thread down. i mean i thought bluefield would have stopped crying by now but apparently not.
  14. i agree, wheeling is certainly not a central location. besides every year there are several southern WV teams that end up going to state. charleston makes the most sense to me. that's where basketball is held.
  15. you had better pray you make the playoffs. there is already 17 teams that have 6 wins in AA and right now bluefield only has 5. and trust me you strength of schedule won't get you in. Princeton 5-4 Hoover 5-4 Oak Hill 2-7 Shady 3-7 and Grundy 1-6. and this last statement is not directed at all bluefield fans, only the ones who seem to be unable to accept the reality of losing to JM and so they have to find excuses. i find it funny that JM gets knocked for our week schedule and then when we beat MV and Bluefield, then everyone wines about the refs. especially over one play when we beat you by 13. and what is your excuse for us beating you guys last year at your place??? don't get me wrong, i am not running down bluefields team. a change in a play here or there and bluefield could have just as easily won but the same has been true for JM twice when we lost to bluefield in the playoffs. that's just football. some of bluefields fans just need to accept that and move on.
  16. thanks for the respect. bluefield was tough as usual and the game could have gone either way. congrats to the Mavs who have a tougher game than i originally thought against G. East next week. but that's next week so enjoy a hard fought win and for sure we don't really want to see the beaves in the playoffs but they haven't gotten there yet.
  17. i doubt it will be cancelled, our feild has only been played on once in the past month. it should be in good shape.
  18. was there really a need to ask this. Mavs Beavs obviously.
  19. i don't remember their record but 99 was the year the state champonship was played at woodrow between JM and East. i know i am going to get jumped on for this statement but East fans will agree that they had a tougher game in semis with us than against bluefield at states.
  20. yeah it would but that doesn't really matter. friday night will be a good ballgame with a lot on the line. JM is going for a fifth undefeated regular season and a definite 1 or 2 seed in the playoffs if we win. bluefield on the other hand has the opportunity to be a top 4 team if they win their last two games. i am wondering though, and i know this has already been asked but i didn't see an answer, if and this is a big if but, if bluefield drops their last two how close willit be as to them not making the playoffs.
  21. ok guys, as much fun as this is the truh is that both teams talked smack and either team could have one the game. we cold be eating crow just as easily as they are. we played well and quietened the critics. now we ned to get ready for a big game against bluefield this coming friday.
  22. i haven't seen bluefield play this year but i know how bluefield plays and this is the time of year when the start to shine. i am really proud of the job my mavs did last night and i think that was what we needed. we had to fight for that win and that is what we needed. i have all the respect in the world for bluefield and if we are going to win we are going to have to play our best, should be a good game.
  23. congrats to both teams, both teams played a heck of a game and it certainly lived up to the hipe. next week will be another dog fight for the mavs as well.
