  1. the National Division championship came down to the last match. St. Mark's led Nazareth by a point, then got a pin from their HWT to win 37-29.
  2. If so, I found him... out in Norfolk. (Which actually makes sense... he was probably sent out on a story to Northfork.) "...fell to Brookville in the Black and Blue division finals..." "...the Bees from Lexington ..." "...Grundy defeated Haddonfield (N.J.) 48-23 in the American finals to become the Duals' only in-state champion...." http://hamptonroads.com/2010/01/wrestling-virginia-duals-wrapup
  3. Huh???? Harry Reid called the president a "Negro"???? I don't see where that happened. Can someone point that part out to me, please???? And if Negro is "unacceptable", explain the "United Negro College Fund".
  4. I'm not a wrestling guy anymore; all I really do now is state prep. Last time I looked at Duals teams was when Testa was St. Mark's HWT ... which was, what, 99? Unless it's the Agie, I don't even go to the matches anymore unless I'm filling in for Lloyd. I MIGHT catch the Cburg match, depending on the wx. Otherwise, I won't see 'em in person until tourney time.
  5. I laughed when I saw that the other day... typical Duals stuff. They were a pain years ago I tried to find some stuff out at work. They don't update their website while the tourney is happening. They can get on a forum and promote their event, but they won't answer questions. (Although, honestly, I think that q. had already been answered and they didn't want to admit it.)
  6. Grundy 48, Haddonfield (NJ) 23 103 Austin Compton pin. P. K. Schlitt (Had), 2:39 112 Sean Vandyke dec. Dalton Cox, 1:31 At 171, Tanner was down 11-0 but came out with a pin. That match was a BRAWL. Both kids were penalized a team point after. Up next, a district match @ Abingdon on Wed., thento Brookville Sat. for what used to be called the Coca Cola Duals.
  7. well, shows how little I know about this year's team. 3 or 4 pins now and we've clinched the American Div. title.
  8. It'll be a while before they finish ... finals didn't start until 8:30 and most matches will go the full 6:00. Only 4 matches in the books after 35 minutes & we're up 15-0.

  10. Grundy 37, Kempsville 28 Austin Compton lost 8-0 @ 103, Sean had a pin, Jeremy had a bye, Justin & Dakota had decisions, Jon Dot & Ethan had pins, Cody picked up a major, Channing got pinned @ 152, making it 34-10, and Dale was a little nervous because they're stacked in the upper weights. At 160, Tyler & Veyrodt were tied w/ :60 left. Tyler took a shot, got headlocked, locked his hands, rolled through his back to the top and got 2 PLUS 2, and hung on to win 6-4, putting us in the finals. Tanner lost a dec., McCowen got pinned, Lowe lost 1-0 & Dalton got pinned. We'll face the Haddonfield - St. Christopher`s winner in the finals at 8:00
  11. great opening day. Wave win big twice & the Evil Empire lost their opener.
  12. best to just let it go amd let the boys do their stuff. you'll never get ppl to change their mind.
  13. topix? seriously? and i was just starting to like you. states will be fun this year with AAA placer Fauquier in the mix.
  14. Grundy's back in the American Div. (which they won 2 years ago) as the #1 seed. We open w/ Hermitage (Richmond) Fri. @ 5; a win puts us back on the mat at 9 p.m. http://www.virginiaduals.org/2010americanhs.pdf The #2 seed is St. Christopher's, a private school from Richmond that made the semis in their debut last year. http://stchriswrestling.com/ C'burg's seeded 4th in the National Div. and COULD face St. Mark's in the semis. They open with last year's American Div. champs, Canon-Millan (PA), Fri. @ 9 & could meet (12 seed) Fauquier @ 1. http://www.virginiaduals.org/2010nationalhs.pdf The college brackets aren't out yet.
  15. the radio station couldn't keep the phone from disconnecting, and Bill has never let a match get in the way of a birthday shout-out, so here's what I know about the shut-outs... Grundy / Castlewood 112: Sean Vandyke (G) pin. Gibson (CW) 119: Jeremy Hurley (G) WBF 125: Justin Street (G) WBF 130: Dakota Vance (G) WBF 135: John Dotson (G) WBF Cody Rife (G) WBF :28 285: Dalton Cox (G) WBF Mullins (CW) 1:10 103: Austin Compton (G) WBF Grundy / JJ Kelly 112: Sean Vandyke F 119: Jeremy Hurley WBF 125: Justin Street WBF 130: Dakota Vance, MD 11-1 135: John Dotson, TF 16-1 140: Channing Elswick dec. 3-1, OT 145: Cody Rife F 152: Ethan Owens F 160: Tyler McClanahan F 171: Tanner McClanahan F 189: Jake McCowen WBF 215: Daniel Lowe F 285: Dalton Cox WBF 103: Austin Compton F
  16. Believe another problem is lack of rooms, with the utility guys needing them TFN, no places to stay. Wished they coulda done like TA did their X-mas tourney - cut it in hlaf. Only have the locals, like Castlewood, Kelly, that can get there atr 9 a, and leave at 10 p going home. 8 teams & 1 day woulda been better than 0/0.
  17. I hate that they pulled the plug so fast, but I think they had too many problems to handle. Comfort Inn's lot is still full of bucket trucks. The area below Hardees got power back Monday night, but our water didn't come back until just after noon today. I went to Riverview Wed. aft. and got 10 gallons of water form the Guard, but didn't ask if the shelter was still open. Buchanan's power-less numbrs wenrt down 20% today, but Tazewell's went from 0 to 2700 because of the wind today. Claypoll Hill is dark, as is the subdivision between the station in Cedar Bluff and the VIP Center. Our generator's been running since 10 this morning. Man. Go home - no power. Get water just in time to take a long bath b4 coming to work, and limited power here. The auto-responnder says the power should be back on b4 midnight, but I sure didn't see any help coming across Shortt Gap.
  18. One in June ????
  19. Ethan got revenge in that last match on the kid that beat him on Friday.
  20. good... maybe I can get home tomorrow. MIGHT have tried today, but Riverside Drive wasn't scraped until 6:45 p.m.l Lloyd said his landlady talked to someone from APCO and they said to expect the power back on in Council by 5 p.m. .... Friday.
  21. CLINTWOOD & GRUNDY ... FRIDAY... SLIGHT CHANCE OF SNOW IN THE MORNING...THEN RAIN LIKELY IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGHS AROUND 40. FRIDAY NIGHT...RAIN IN THE EVENING. SNOW. 22. I replied, but left it to see the answer
  23. Jeremy lost to Mark Hall in the 119 semis. The 7th grader was ranked 11th in KY before the tourney (based on rep. alone, since he was a transfer from MI), then lost to the defending state champ in the finals... by 2. Hall's been an OW at Reno http://www.worldofwrestling-roller.com/tournament/show/6 & nationally-ranked #1 http://www.themat.com/bios.php?page=showkidbio&ContactID=2231 http://nky.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20091212/SPT0302/912130383/ http://www.michigangrappler.com/files/Youth_Wrestling/fab50final.html http://www.michigangrappler.com/files/Youth_Wrestling/youtharchive/worldofwrestlingallstarteam.html
