They've got about 5 other OOS teams with the wrong record, too - the first ratings (official or unofficial) always have a few mistakes, but they'll be corrected by Friday.

yeah, it's a real mess, all because the principals have voted against a wholesale state-wide realignment for many years. With 300 schools, many of us think VA should go to a 4A or 5A set-up. If they think the enrollment is too spread out for football, it should be that way for basketball and other sports, too. I would love to see ratings points tossed aside (maybe used as a tie-breaker) and let District records decide who gets in, like TN & KY do. Single A right now is about 650 and fewer in grades 9-12, which is similar to the old 500 and fewer in 3 grades that they used for years. We also let schools "play-up" if they wish, so AAA has about 125 schools right now, including 1 near Richmond that is just barely AA. Going to a 5A set-up would basically split AAA in half, and combine the bigger A's with the smaller AA's. The problem is - that would actually reduce the number of playoff teams in football (meaning less money going to the state), while increasing their expenses due to adding 2 more state tournaments for all those non-revenue sports.

If you got all that, here's what happened in 2004 : Rye Cove, Powell Valley & Honaker were the Dist. champs - all 3 were in Div. 2, leaving just 1 wild-card spot. Haysi went 9-1, losing only to Honaker. Gate City went 8-2, but played a tougher schedule, and had more ratings points than Haysi, so the 9-1 Tigers stayed home. Hurley lost to Honaker, Haysi & Twin Valley, but had 4 wins, which gave them enough points to be the #4 seed in Div. 1 (which had just 3 schools that finished above .500)

VERIFIED? IN WV???? Considering I've never seen anything about his state-record night against Shelby Valley over a month ago being verified yet, I wonder if it'll be done in time to make the list at the start of the 2007 season ?!?!? And with all the "stuff" surrounding Matewan over the past week, I figured SOME TV station would be there just for the heck of it. I mean, for the past 2 weeks, I've heard "wait til we play again" or "wait til the Burch game". I HOPE some station has some footage from last night.

Felt kinda sad for Taze when Caleb started the 3rd quarter; but I don't think he had 40 yards in the first half - all 3 of his TD's were 3 yards. parsons - I think it's the Blues largest MARGIN in a game ever and 3rd most points in a game (other 2 were vs. Lee)

some of us Grundy ppl are already use to this - SV beat Phelps something like 79-6 in week 0. Hard to sub in your 3rd-string RB when he's still in elem. school!

'87 team missed the playoffs. '86 was the 9-1 team - 1st year of the Divisions for playoffs. They beat Haysi 23-7, then lost to Appy 16-6 (seem like I rem. their bus got "stuck" on one of the curves coming down Rockhouse). Appy then lost to Parry McCluer, which won state.

Actually, he's the scout team QB - played Reggie Ball last week, so "talent" is actually improving, not wasting away.

It was 18-0, but scrim. scores don't mean anything. Yeah, TV must be bad - they led Castlewood last week at the start of the 4th quarter, but lack of depth got 'em. I knew Pocy was in trouble when I heard the '86 team was going to be honored and it was HC. I think that got the Panthers fired up a bit. And a q for Pocy - did y'all have to sit on the 4-lane during the parade? Or did you become a part of it going across the bridge?
