  1. How good is Coeburn and Perdue at baseball? I didn't even know either one of them played.
  2. I hope you guys come to play b/c the last two times Weir has beaten you w/o pretty much any problems. I thought you had a pretty good team last year, and one of my friends on Weir's team tells me you lost a little bit. I think the score of the game this year was 3-0 when you guys traveled to Weirton. In any event, good luck and I hope to see you at the tournament.
  3. Weir beat Roane Co. 7-4 tonight and now advance to the state tournament for the second straight year. Please someone let me know what happened in your region b/c we will be matched up w/ you in the first round of the tourney.
  4. I have mixed feelings about this game. Weir will play whoever comes out of this region if they beat Roane Co.(which they definitely should). On the one hand, I'd like to see us play Shady Spring b/c we're 2-0 against them the last two times we've played them. However, Bluefield/Weir is obviously a good rivalry in football and they've had some awsome bball games in the late 90's at the state tourney, so I'd like to see them play each other in baseball. Oh well, good luck to both teams and hopefully I'll be seeing some of you at the state tourney!!!
  5. First off, I'd like to say good luck to Bluefield. I hope you all make it to states your region would be matched up w/ Weir's in the first round at Charleston. Weir advanced today, beating Magnolia. They now either play Point Pleasant or Roane Co. for a state tourney berth. Please keep me posted on how you guys did.
  6. I think it will be. The seniors this coming year will have gone through two hearbreaking seasons their sophomore and junior years. They seem to have good leadership and the new coach seems to be working out well and has them working hard. I think it will be their year, but only time will tell. Right now several of the players are trying to repeat as state champs b/c they play on Weir's team as well. It would be nice to end this school year and begin the next w/ titles in baseball and football. Anyways, good luck to Bluefield and I hope to see you guys in the playoffs.
  7. Okay...Well I hope Bluefield comes back and has a good season this year. I'd like to see Weir meet them in the playoffs b/c I think it has become a good rivalry for the players and fans. The game always seems to bring the best out of both teams.
  8. [ QUOTE ] A couple of new additions could really bolster expectations. [/ QUOTE ] I'm not trying to start trouble here, but when you say "new additions" do you mean transfers?
  9. I'm not trying to stir up trouble, but I think WVU is going to make it a clean sweep of the series. With the very solid recruiting classes coming in and the huge amount of young talent, I don't think Marshall has the athletes to play w/ WVU. Their best shot to beat the Mountaineers was when they had Moss and Pennington and WVU had a down year and they still couldn't do it. Personally, I can't wait to see the first game of the series between these two programs.
  10. [ QUOTE ] And traveling from Weir to the North/South game? Now that's dedicated a trip I wouldn't even think of making from Bluefield...lol [/ QUOTE ] LOL It's only about a lil over 3 hour drive so it isn't that bad. I had a few friends play in the game last year and I'd like to see Chappell play in it this year. Me and a few friends just take a weekend trip to Charleston. It's usually a good time and I really enjoy the game.
  11. Congrats to both Wells and Coeburn. Both are very talented players. I dont like the fact that each team can only have 2 members representing them. I understand they want to get kids from every team, but certain teams(ex. Morgantown, Bluefield, Weir, Martinsburg) have more than 2 kids deserving to play in the game. Chad Chappell is the only player from Weir participating. Zac Cooper was asked, but declined the invititation from what I understand b/c he will be at WVU most of the summer lifting and conditioning w/ the team. Both WR/DB Jack Crow and DB Justin Shumake were both 1st team all state selections, but I don't know if either was asked. Oh well, it's a great honor to be selected to the game and I can't wait to make the trip to Charleston for the second year in a row to watch it.
  12. I don't think JM has the athletes to run that offense. They just need to line up in a norman I formation and run the ball w/ the occasional play action pass, nothing too complicated. IMO, they would be much more successful running a simpler style of offense.
  13. They were ranked in the top ten in the state in AA at the beginning of the season for a while, but now dropped out. They received a few votes in the latest poll, but I wonder what happened to them. I know they lost a game in a tournament in NY and then lost to Weir in a game they played on the way back from that tourney. What has happened to the state runner-up?
  14. We passed the ball well that game. Spaz just was in a rhythm and Crow as catching everything thrown near him. I'd like for you guys to make the return trip this season for sure. I'm hoping Weir doens't have to travel at all in the playoffs other than to the Island, if they play well enough to get that far.
  15. Weir defeated cross country rival Oak Glen last night. That puts them at 8-3 on the season and they are finally starting to play up to their potential. I'm liking their chances of making a return trip to Charleston to defend their state title.
  16. I wouldn't mind seeing James Monroe make a trip up to Weirton from Lindside this coming sesason since we went down there last year. I'd like to see the Riders play them again.
  17. Morgantown's closest game was against Riverside, and they beat them by 24. Everyone of their games was a blowout. I think the top 3 teams in the state in any class were Morgantown at #1 and then Bluefield and Weir in either order. Wheeling Central is up there, but most of us know they are not a usual A school lol.
  18. Weir didn't start out the season too well losing to two OH powerhouses Steubenville Big Red and Toronto. Steubenville was Div. 3 runner-up in OH last year. However, the Red Riders came back and started playing up to their potential and are now 7-3. They defeated Big Red the second game they played and in their last game, they ten runned AAA rival Brooke.
  19. How is Bluefield's baseball team this year jw? I haven't been on a while lol, so I was just trying to find out how they were doing this year.
  20. Apparently you cannot read very well, but you better learn quick...
  21. Wow I'm hearing a lot of excuses after you guys just flat our got throttled by Westside!!! [ QUOTE ] but im still proud of the Beavs and hey..we're still better than Weir in basketball too...lol [/ QUOTE ] How do you figure that Tom? The teams never played and you guys just happened to get matched up w/ a sorry team in the first round. We took Logan to the wire, and guess what, they too are playing for a state title just like the team that destroyed you!!! And I was dissapointed I didn't see anyone I knew from Blufield there. I stood behind the Bluefield section w/ my Weir 2004 State Baseball Champions shirt on haha and didn't see anyone.
  22. Good luck to the Beavers. Everyone who is driving to the game, be safe. I'll probably see a lot of you there b/c I'm driving down tomorrow morning to watch the tourney.
  23. Thanks for the good words convertedbeaver. Once again I'd like to wish Bluefield good luck in the tournament. I'm hoping to see them play when I make my usual trip to watch the state tournament.
  24. I'll be the bigger person before I hear all the smack, and wish Bluefield good luck in the tournament. Even though Weir lost, they played a very good game and I want to congratulate them on a great season. I'll still be there in Charleston to watch the tournament on Friday so I hope to see you there Tom lol.
  25. [ QUOTE ] I'm not going to the braxton co. game. But ill be at the westside game for sure! [/ QUOTE ] You guys talk about me getting ahead of myself? I wouldn't look past Braxton Co. I'm pretty sure they are 21-3, so I hope the Bluefield players aren't taking them too lightly.
