  1. Ed, you seem very knowledgable of the game, but man you are way off on this comment. He took Riverside to the AAA state title game in their first year of existence and one year after taking Dupont to the AA title game Whitman is a great coach, and one of the best in the state. IMO, the top coaches in the state are... Bowers(Morgantown)<--Took the Mohigans the to the semis in 03 and led them to the 04 AAA State Championship in only his first two years as a head coach. Harmon(Wayne)<--Similar situation as Walker at Martinsburg. Wayne was strictly a baseball school until he took over as head coach there. Kramer(Weirton Madonna)<--Class act who took a school w/ 110 kids that dressed only 25 players to the state title game and hung w/ powerhouse Wheeling Central. Lemley(Poca)<--Led Poca to 4 AA state titles, and state record for AA 3 in a row(01,02,03). Simon(Bluefield)<--As much as I hate to say it. LOL Walker(Martinsburg)<--Their program was nonexistent until he got there. Whitman(Riverside)<--Ed, I'm sorry but you are wrong on this one. This guy is a great coach. Weir's coach, Eric Meek, will be one of the best in the state in a few years and I'm not just saying that b/c I'm a Weir fan. Meek has won a National Championship w/ Jim Tressel at YSU as an assistant, coached at D1-AA Robert Morris, and has taken Wellsville deep into the OH playoffs as their head coach. I think he's currently one of the better coaches in the state, but he's only in his first season at Weir so I guess we will see after this year.
  2. If I'm wrong, then I will be here and admit that I am wrong. I predicted Weir to beat JM, and even though one of their best players was out at WR/S and Weir should have won, I admitted I was wrong. I can't stand Nitro, and their fans think Culbertson will play in the NFL one day which is hillarious, but I can honestly say I think they will beat WW. I thought Princeton would give them a good game after they beat Bluefield so handily, but they just smacked them. We will see after Friday I guess.
  3. No, Weir is AA and doesn't play Beckley but I know a few other teams in AAA that will beat them. Yeah, you have a squad w/ a lot of team speed, but you have no playoff experience. Your team was 2-8 last season. I see them making it to the semis. They will not beat Nitro and end up the #3 team in the state in AAA come playoff time. They will lose in the semis, IMO. I'm not trying to start a fight either. I'm just stating my opinion. It will be Morgantown and Nitro or Morgantown and Jefferson for the AAA crown.
  4. Geez man, take it easy. It was just a joke and I only said it b/c one of my friends who is a Bluefield fan mentioned the playoff picture was shaping up for a match-up of these two teams.
  5. Congrats on the win. Things really look like they are shaping up for another Bluefield/Weir battle LOL.
  6. LOL I changed my post. I forgot about their game w/ Morgantown. They won't beat the Mohigans. They will still end up at 8-2 b/c they beat Weir in a great game tonight. They scored w/ 52 seconds left to beat Weir 32-29. I say Morgantown will beat them by 2-3 TD's.
  7. Congrats, but don't get too comfortable at the #1 spot!
  8. 1.) John Marshall...They are loaded at the skill positions. I thought they'd be in a lot of trouble this year after losing Amdedro, but they haven't missed a beat w/ Cy Mozingo taking the snaps. They should be a top 10 team in AAA when the playoffs roll around. They will finish 8-2 w/ their only losses coming to Bellaire and Weir. 2.) Wheeling Park...An inexperienced bunch of kids that are inconsistant at times. They played their best game of the year against Morgantown and the Mohigans played their worst game and Park still couldn't pull it out. They could be a title contender along w/ JM next year though. 3.) Brooke...Even though are 4-1, the Bruins haven't played anyone, yet they think they're getting back to their dominating ways of the late 80's and early 90's. Their 4 wins came from teams that have a combined record of 4-16(Buckeye Local-OH:1-4, Anacostia-DC:0-5, Edison-OH: 0-5, Parkersburg South: 3-2). They'll get knocked back to reality when they play Park and Weir, though. They talk about ending the season at 9-1, but I only see them winning one more game and ending at 5-5 just like last season. Weir, Park, Indian Creek(OH), and University will all beat the Bruins soundly!
  9. Morgantown's first team beat Martinsburg's first team something like 3TD's to 0 in a scrimmage. I haven't seen Jefferson play, so I don't know anything about them.
  10. Good to hear. I hope they all have productive collegiate careers both on the football field and in the classroom!
  11. Only two days until the Turkeys get knocked back to reality!!! HAHA
  12. I'm not trying to start anything here. I'm just wondering how Coeburn is going w/ WVWC's team and how Wells is doing at Marshall. Are they both getting redshirted? Thanks for any info!
  13. What attitude? I just said I dont think Woodrow Wilson can win the state title. Morgantown has a reason to boast, while winning 3 out of the last 5 AAA state championships, yet their players don't. They aren't satisfied w/ that. They want to keep adding to the trophy case. It could very well be Morgantown and Woodrow Wilson in the state title game. If they beat Nitro, the Eagles could be sitting at either 1 or 2 w/ Morgantown at the other top spot. Jefferson and Martinsburg have to play each other so one of those teams will be entering the playoffs w/ at least one loss and they probably both won't go undefeated b/c they play tough competition from MD. Whatever happens, the AAA playoffs will be interesting this season!
  14. Noone else other than Morgantown should be #1 until someone beats them, and so far noone has in the last 19 games, including a 45-12 win over WW. A team can improve over a year's time, but I don't know if they can go from 2-8 to being state champions.
  15. [ QUOTE ] Being a Weir fan you should know that a team can go from 2-8 to be a successful team. Wasn't Weir like 2-8 in 2002 before turning it around in 2003 and taking Bluefield to OT in the 2003 playoffs? Bluefield was 2-8 in 2001 and then in 2002 made it all the way to the state title game. [/ QUOTE ] No, in 2002 Weir was 4-6, losing 4 of those games by 6 points or less. It was a transition period w/ a new coach and a new system coming in. The talent was there in 02. And it was 2 OT's LOL. [ QUOTE ] Honestly, physically and athletically Beckley matches up the best of anyone in AAA with Morgantown. And Morgantown isn't the same team they were last season, neither is Beckley. [/ QUOTE ] Obviously you don't know too much about Morgantown. They didn't let ANYONE they played get within 24 points of them last season. The only close game they've had this season was to Wheeling Park and it was 21-18. They are 5-0 and the state champs until someone beats them and I don't see that happening. Beckley will not beat Morgantown, but I can definitely see Culbertson running all over the Eagles defense. Morgantown has an insane amount of talent after losing three D1 players to graduation and many other starters. Beckley, IMO, doesn't have the talent to play w/ a seasoned team like Morgantown. It's Nitro that could take the Mohigans to the wire, but I still think Morgantown is the team to beat in AAA this year.
  16. [ QUOTE ] WHOA!!! Woodrow is sitting at #1??? [/ QUOTE ] That won't last very long. They still have to play Nitro. This is the same team that was what 2-8 last year and suffered a 40+ point loss at the hands of eventual state champion Morgantown. They are pretenders, IMO.
  17. I don't know too much about Graham this year, but from what it seems like Bluefield had the game won in the opener but just threw it away. Bluefield seems to be playing a lot better the past few weeks and I think they come out of this one w/ a W, but it will be close, something like 24-21. Any other thoughts?
  18. Thanks, I am not goin to get on here and talk about who Weir would beat until after the game. You guys will go 10-0, 9-1 at worst so we will probably be seeing you again in the playoffs. Good luck the rest of the season, and hopefully we will see you in November(or possibly the first week in December)
  19. Congrats on a good victory. Now beat Graham next week and make the playoffs so we can see another epic Weir/Bluefield battle lol.
  20. I say this honestly, congratulations on a good win.
  21. I'm done talking about this. I won't say anything else about JM. We will wait until the end of the regular season and when the playoffs roll around and Weir gets the chance to meet JM, and we win I don't want to hear any excuses like last year. Way to cry about it though. Why didn't you just be a man and send me a PM or somethin. But it's all good, see you guys in November!!!
  22. First of all, your field is not as bad as I thought it would be but is nowhere near one of the best in the state. You must not travel much. Brooke Memorial Stadium, Wheeling Island, Pony Lewis Field, Mitchell Stadium, Jimmy Carey Stadium, etc. are all much better venues for HS football. As for your schedule, that isn't the problem. It's the fact that some of your fans think you have one of the top programs in the state and that is a joke. Even Bluefield fans tell me you guys are so green w/ envy over the Beavers it's hillarious. Bluefield, Weir, and Poca are three of the top AA PROGRAMS in the state. James Monroe isn't on the same level. The three programs I just named don't rebuild, they reload!!!
  23. I don't normally run my mouth, but w/ you guys it's just too difficult not to. I've never seen a team that thinks they are a top program in the state, while never proving anything. Win a few quality games this season, and maybe you'll earn some respect, but until then realize you guys haven't proven anything as a program and that's why people look at JM as a joke.
  24. Oh, I have definitely moved on. I just still can't begin to understand how you think you have a quality program. You're a decent team, that's it. If you get into the playoffs again this year, it will be the same result as last season. Yeah we lost to Bluefield by 1 point , but how bad did they destroy you in the regular season? I don't have to worry about it b/c Weir will be playing for the AA title on December 2nd while JM is at home watching the game. WHEN you guys take another early exit from the playoffs, what is your excuse going to be this time? The bit about the players getting thrown off the team is getting a bit old. If JM and Weir play again, I'd really like to meet some of these JM fans and see the look on their face when Weir hangs 60 on them AGAIN!
  25. [ QUOTE ] Lol hey, with any luck if James Monroe does play Weir maybe they can blow a two touchdown lead during the last 5 minutes like they did against Bluefield last year. [/ QUOTE ] You joke about this, but how did Weir get the opportunity to play Bluefield. Oh, that's right they whipped JM's a$$ 63-22. Weir had that game in the bag at halftime and everyone in the stadium knew it. I just regret going all the way down to that hole in the earth known as Lindside, WV to watch a "warm-up" game. And don't worry, what happened against Bluefield will never happen against JM, b/c Weir will never have less than a 35 point lead on the Mavericks. The funny thing is that I remember all these JM fans coming to the Weir/Bluefield game, sitting on the Weir side, and cheering for the Red Riders. Your jealousy towards Bluefield is pitiful. When your program becomes somewhat respectable and you actually play a solid regular season schedule, then you can talk.
