  1. There is going to be a ghost walk in Bramwell on Saturday, October 25. It starts at 7PM. You can find more information by going to this site. http://www.childhswv.org/news/ghostwalk.htm It looks interesting!
  2. My heart breaks for those boys who played their hearts out on that field last night! Those grown men should have had the decency to make the final call before scurrying off to the safety of their dressing room. All we can do is look forward to this season and put this behind us and know that Bluefield is built with tradition and outstanding character. Our boys are AMAZING!!!
  3. the only thing that I could find on MSN was that games were broadcast over CSTV, but you have to sign up and pay to listen. http://www.msnsportsnet.com/page.cfm?section=1104 http://allaccess.cstv.com/subscriptions/index_xxl.jsp?partnerId=cstv_aamg Sorry that I am not much help...
  4. Sorry I was wrong when I saw adventure radio I just assumed that it was J 104, but it is 100.9 like regular season. As for internet feed, I can't find anything either, maybe check some stations out of Ohio or close to Wier.
  5. The game is going to be broadcast on J 104.5 in Bluefield starting at 7:05. Also any station in the state that carries MSN (Mountaineer Sports Network) will be broadcasting the game. http://www.msnsportsnet.com/ There is the link. Sorry I posted late but I just got the info myself!! GO BEAVERS!!!!
  6. Kudos to this young man for not taking this oppurtunity to "trash talk" his opponents. I thought this was a great article that deserved some recognition!! No. 54: Good for Albert and Beavers Posted: Thursday, Oct 13, 2005 - 09:59:15 pm EDT Column: By BRIAN WOODSON Bluefield Daily Telegraph Ryan Albert's lucky number is 54. In fact, it's been a good luck charm for much of Albert's family. Albert, his father, Randy, his uncle, Bill, and his cousin, David, have all worn No. 54 for the Bluefield Beavers. All, but David have won state championships wearing that number. "If memory serves me right, my uncle was actually asked to wear that number when coach (John) Chmura was here and that's how it got started," said Albert, a senior guard and linebacker for the Beavers. "In my freshman year when I got up here I was No. 10 because I was a quarterback, but then I got moved to the line and No. 54 was open so - to keep the family tradition - I took it." Albert is one of just a handful of players with experience who have returned from last year's 14-0 Class AA state championship team. He has been a part of 38 wins in three-plus seasons, along with three trips to the state championship game. He finally tasted victory last year. "It's been great playing here, I've been to Wheeling three times in three years, won a state championship, and played since I was a freshman," said Albert, whose career highlights include winning the state title and defeated playoff nemesis Weir two years in a row. "It's been a wonderful experience." That experience has continued for another year. At 5-foot-11, 205 pounds, Albert isn't big for a lineman, but he gets the job done. He's also a hard hitter as a linebacker, and has started for three-plus years for the Beavers. "I'm probably one of the smaller people along the line, but in our scheme of things, size on the offensive line doesn't really matter," Albert said. "It matters whether you can move or not, especially being a pulling guard, it's more of like being a fullback that doesn't ever get to carry the ball. "It's like lead blocking on people and it's not in the trenches that much so size doesn't really play a factor. Linebacker is probably my favorite position, I love defense, I like offense, but there is nothing better than playing defense." For Albert, there's not much better than playing for the Beavers. Bluefield started the 2005 campaign with losses against Graham and Princeton, but mix in some experience with some talented young athletes and the Beavers have won four in a row since. "I think we've done really well so far," Albert said. â€ÂÂWe started out the season with two tough games, as tough as anybody could expect to play against teams that had experience from last year when we had lost all ours, but we've got a lot of young, good players that have really stepped up so far." Those steps will have to get bigger in the next three weeks. Bluefield, currently No. 11 in the WVSSAC rankings, will host No. 9 Mount View tonight, followed by tilts at No. 4 Herbert Hoover and No. 2 James Monroe. The playoffs have started early for the Beavers. "The other day one of the coaches said it's kind of like the playoffs," said Albert, "We're playing three teams that are ranked ahead of us. If we go through and win three games then we're back where we need to be, there can't be any tougher games than what we will have in the next three weeks." Not only does Mount View bring a lofting ranking and an explosive offense into tonight's game, but the Knights remember last year's playoffs. Bluefield is the team the Knights would most like to defeat, but the Beavers feel close to the same. It's a rivalry,“ Albert said. â€ÂÂI won't say it's our biggest because we play Graham so that's always our biggest, but if we had to have a second biggest rivalry, it would be Mount View.“ Bluefield snuck past the Knights 17-14 during the regular season, but then whipped Mount View 58-0 in the playoffs. The Knights remember, but the Beavers wouldn't expect anything less. "It's been a pretty tough series. Last year we went down there and beat them 17-14, and we ended up getting a second chance to redeem ourselves last year in the playoffs and did pretty well against them," said Albert, who is a distant relative of Mount View offensive coordinator Kenny Bales. "We've had quite a few games against them since I've been up here. "Anytime you play a team over a series of years, whichever way it goes, the other team is always going to feel some sense of trying to get back at you." Brian Woodson is the sports editor for the Bluefield Daily Telegraph
  7. What a horrible thing to happen...my prayers are with her family and her classmates, team mates, and friends.
  8. I have been to several Bluefield games where there are people in the stands that say nasty comments about not only the coaches but the players as well. Let's get real people..what coach goes out there and says, "tonight boys let's just go out there and lose!!", I mean really. The people who are involved in our local sports are there for the love of the game and the love of the players. There is no reason to degrade these talented people who choose to devote much of their lives to a school and their hometown. Just look through the posts on this board, there seems to be just as much, if not more, negativity than that of positive remarks. Remember that the person that you are yelling at may have a parent, relative, or friend in the same stand as you. Be careful what you say and be there to SUPPORT your team and not humiliate them with unfounded remarks. These are just kids after all and the coaches are doing their very best. Coach Simon has had many wonderful seasons as the coach of our Beavers but he has just as many not so great seasons but he remains a coach to these kids no matter what. He puts in long days and hard hours. If you want to be a fair weathered fan, stay at home and listen to the games on the radio but if you are going to attend the games then be there in full support, win or lose!!!
  9. They did have a good team and I was impressed with number 7 and number 1 (I think that is right)...those boys could fly and number 51 was a beast!! lol I am very impressed by how the Beaver boys handled themselves this evening...I really think they held their own on most plays....as devastating as it is to lose...the boys have handled themselves gracefully after coming off such a big season last year...Here is to our off week and the hopes that we come out fighting against Grundy!!
  10. Charter in Princeton has a channel called Network West Virginia...it is channel 2 on my guide. They are going to be showing the Bluefield-Princeton game on Sat. at 9:00pm. They are the game of the week and each week the channel shows a different WV high school game. Just a FYI!!
  11. On the 96 team Shaun Bailey played and Paul Beasley...both did very well and Bailey had his ACL repaired in the 95 season but came back to continue his senior year in 96 but unfortunatly that team did not acheive State Champs...there wasn't any Shaun Beasley....and let us not forget Jeremy Barker who had the heart of the whole team...he was a Beaver through and through...it should also be mentioned that both the 96 and 97 teams did well on both the field and on an academic level...most members of the team were in the National Honor Society...I know who my favorite team of all time is...1997, just because I was a part of it and it was my friends that were playing on the field....anyway I am done rambling but I thought I would just clear up the name confusion...
  12. Hi all...I am a new member that has been viewing for a little while now and the reason for my post is to remind everyone to keep our Beavers in our thoughts and prayers...they will be leaving on Thursday for a long ride to Wheeling and we need each one of the team and coaches to arrive safe and sound...I think that it is wonderful to see all of the support this team is recieving and I know that Bluefield football is a tradition that we all hold close to our hearts...I was part of the 97 state championship and I know how great it feels to win the title...I wasn't a player but a cheerleader and my closest friends were on the team...I got to see the joy on all of my friends faces and the fans and it is something that I will never forget...Beaver has the best fans in the world and I just hope that Beaver comes back with a much deserved victory and that everyone is kept safe from injury or harm....I know that I was Beaver born and Beaver bred, as many of you all were...this is a great team with wonderful coaches and I hope and pray for another 14 and 0 season....GO BEAVERS!!!
