This word just came in from by best sources: Larry Horton, former Big Creek Owl, and manager of the Railraod Avenue Chevron is willing to donate shakers for the game!!

I had a blast at the Music City Bowl! Beer at the stadium and smoozing in the lounge with Howie Long's wife!! (She has a great plastic surgeon!!) Doesn't get much better than that!! I will be the first to admit though....unlike most other fans when someone deserves credit. Graham played one heck of a game earlier this year and whipped the Blues at home. Hats off to the GMEN for that! Since that game, the Blues have kept their nose to the grind and worked their tails off to get better. And watching them for the past few weeks has been a wonderful ride and I hope it continues. As for the Graham and Richlands rivalry...I hope it continues for a long time and they both push each other to become better. This only helps both programs and helps Region IV maintain the reputaion that both Graham and Richlands have given them over the past decade in football. We should be thanking each other! The Hokies will continue their dominance in football over Virginia, as much as it pains me to say that, for the time being! I hate to admit that as a Virginia fan, but the truth is the truth. As for Groh, what do you say? I am sure the Hokie nation wants him to stay. He has his moments but for the most part he is average to below average. So do you think a coaching change is the answer? Maybe for the short term, but this is a long term problem. Welsh could never get it done either at Virginia. The school has to make the committment and I don't see that happeninig right now.

Well of course we did, the Big East was becoming just too darn competitvie for the Hokies!

Leave it to good ole GMAN to shed some thought provoking light on any subject. After his public "recognition" earlier this year, it seems as if GMAN feels he has something to prove to everyone on this board. Can someone please tell him that Graham got beat by Marion two weeks ago!! Groh may not be the best coach in the country, but who else is out there? Seriously, UVA is not going to sink a ton of money into a "primetime" coaching candidate. It boils down to a simple fact: Colleges nowadays have to dedicate themselves to one sport. Its either basketball of football. In VT's case its simple: football. At Virginia, the athletic programs have numerous sports that compete year in and year out for national championships. The only school to come close in both sports has been Florida. Can anyone name another school that has made both the Final Four and a BCS bowl over the past five years. Pretty much few and far between. Some of your MAJOR universities can pull this off every now and then but not many can do it on a yearly basis.

I am with you UVA Observer: As much as it pains me to say that Tech indeed has the better team. The programs are definitely miles apart and will likely continue for the next few years at least. UVA will always be mediocre in football and fans need to accept that fact! Hopefully one year we will finally beat the Hokies and it will be sweet but for the time being we have to move on and worry about our program and getting better each and every year. A lot of the difference comes from the whole recruiting process and the fact that UVA has voluntarily raised their entrance requirements means that they can only recruit probably 30 to 40% of the players other Div. 1 schools target. This leads to mediocrity but Groh has done a good job with what he has to work with...sometimes there are flashes of brillance, but for the most part its the same ole story year end and year out. Saturday's game boiled down to two plays: the interception at the end of the first half and the third and one call at the end of the 3rd quarter. Those two were momentum swingers and ultimately lead to UVA putting more and more pressure on the defense. Oh well, better luck next time. Hopefully Tech puts a whooping on BC and the Gator Bowl picks Virginia.

I saw Sanders Henderson dressed like Shrek....oh wait a minute....isn't that an oxymoron???

Lest we all forget about his tenure on the sidelines of the RHS gridiron!!! He guided the Blues to a terrible performance in the Region IV Championship Game at Blacksburg High School. His halftime adjustments cost him that game if I recall correctly....that or the fact half of his team had been smoking wacky weed all morning!!!

Furthermore, didn't Jerry Falwell wave at you the day Richlands won the state title last year??

No gripe anymore.....the VHSL did issue an apology....wasn't that mighty nice of them??

You have total points in the last column, right? Do you take that number and divide by the number of games to get the average??

Why blame everything on the officials. I have heard this numerous times on this board and others about how the officiating has cost them a game. My response to that is: BULL****! While I do understand that situations happen in every game that not all fans, players, and coaches agree with, I feel as if the officiating will take care of itself. I think we would all agree that the refs do not run, pass, tackle, or turnover the football during the course of a game. Most of the time it is someone else who needs to shoulder the blame for a loss. A smart coach once said that you cannot put your team in a situation that is influenced by a "bad" call. Take care of your business and the let the chips fall where they may!! Someone commented to me the other day about how bad the officials were in the Richlands/Bluefield game. I was like "WHAT??" Those officials did a good job that night and they had no influence whatsoever on that game! Take it with a grain of salt futbolking....there is a lot more to worry about in this world than referees!!

Let's not forget that memorable night at Lebanon High School back in 1984!! What a game that was!! If it were not for a couple of missed defenisive assignments by our linebackers that game WOULD have been our first victory!!

It could be time to dust off the old black cleats and hit the gridiron!! Somewhere in the distant I hear ole' Bud Galimore laughing!!1
