  1. Yes, Council won it. I dont remember the year.. I think theres a team pic in their gym.. I'll probably see it to night and let you know the year if you want!!
  2. pretty good post there wah_wah... lol.. I think thats pretty smart coaching on Goodmans part! I wish someone would give me a shot to play again.. lol.. they could call me the hatchetman!!! lol
  3. Since you've seen 2 games i'm sure you know alot about the Twin Valley team. As of right now they've won 15 in a row. I dont see them being in much trouble. So, i'll leave that at that. If Honaker plays well they should get 2 more shots at TV (one for sure feb 7th at Honaker). That would be ok with me! Hey, I like good games!
  4. Talking to refs during timeouts has nothing to do with the instruction being given to the players. But, it could be smoozzzing or idle game chatter.. Just my opinion!! Moore and Goodman have done a great job with this them. Whats the saying, "Sticks and Stones"... lol
  5. haha.. you dont have anyone to matchup with TV even with baldwin out!! bottome line!! NOBODY!!! That was pretty obvious! Guess what.. It's over! Like Mouse said big game sat. you need to put your focus there!! There is no questions.. they were all answered last night.. Good luck Sat.
  6. In reply to Grundy10... I dont feel like that made a difference in the out come of the game, or run up the score. The game was over with your starters on the floor in the 2nd quarter. But, anyways.. Concord University Head Coach was in the stands watching some of the Twin Valley boys play.. That might been the reason he gave those guys a few minutes!
  7. Best of luck to you mouse. Your a gamer. Hang in there man.
  8. Twin Valley played some solid defense.. Goodman had a ton of assists. Shortidge shot the ball very well. Baldwin had a ton of blocks.. Kt played some solid defense. Lester had abunch of rebounds!! Grundy struggled with TVs press!! The bench played a quarter and half and run their offense like clockwork. Garrett horne made some good passes and Hunter simpson got some nice rebs...Looneys got some athleticism as Rife looked good shooting the ball.. Nice team effort.. Keep it rolling tomorrow nite at Council..
  9. TV by 8 (i think).. great game.. Lester carried the load the first hald.. Vandyke carried it down the stretch!! Baldwin was plagued by foul trouble (refs seem to have it in for him at times). My question is who was playing Jones.. He kept Haysi in it!! KT did a great job on Viers! A classic BDD battle! I dont know what Haysi's shooting percentage from 3 was but it had to be great!! Congrads to the Panthers.. They answered the call.. Grundy at TV Thur.. at Council Fri..
  10. A wins a win.. mighty mouse! It goes in the W column!! haha That game was probably like fighting fire!! lol..You all ended up the hottest! Congrads!
  11. TV is improving and was focused.. They knew who to stop and knew they had to bring an A game, which they did. As far as being impressed with OHR... Look at their record. They have beaten every team they have played by 20+ pts. TV has a ton of talent, offensively and defensively. It was evident last night they can handle it, pass it and shoot it. They have size and quickness. They are playing very unselfish as of now.. Only thing they didnt do last night was shoot well from the foul line! A well coached, defense can cause problems for an offensive. Isnt that the object of the game. A good defense's main objective is to shut down the opponents offense!! Well, TV did a great job! Last night there was 2 different teams playing than the first meeting. TV made adjustments OHR didnt. Playing at home on a bigger court helped also i think. The spacing on TV's offensive sets made a big difference. Officiating was NOT a factor in the blowout! It was a big win for TV.. Congrads to the boys and coaches. record 13-2... Haysi tue at haysi... Grundy at TV thur... at Council Fri.... Good luck guys.
  12. blues lost by 10 or so! If McGee had this group 3 years ago.. they'd be hard to handle.. Little stuff is hurting bad at critical times.. get those under control and win some big games down the stretch.
  13. I found this interesting. It was posted on the Cumberland District Board. What'll they call it? The Lonesome Pine District West? The Lonesome Pine District East? The Lonesome Pine District South? Here's a better suggestion: let's call it the District Formerly Known as the Highlands. On Thursday, the LPD principals considered five different proposals for absorbing the VHSL's assignment of Virginia High, Lee High, John Battle and Lebanon. The plan that emerged from that meeting will send Coeburn out of the LPD into the Cumberland and Ervinton out of the Cumberland into the Black Diamond. Gate City, meanwhile, will say goodbye to its short, happy dominance of LPD sports to join the Bearcats, Generals, Trojans and Pioneers in the formation of a new Group A league. What these schools all have in common is that they have all been members of the Group AA Highlands District at one time or another. The only missing components are Abingdon and Marion - apparently headed for Southwest District membership. The only tie this proposed new district has with the LPD is Gate City. And those ties, while historic, have been tenuous at best. Unlike Powell Valley - which was clearly unhappy with the extra mileage involved if the Vikings had been successfully shunted into the proposed new district - the Blue Devils were excited from the outset at the prospect of a new league. "The district was one that I'd chosen along with coach (Nick) Colobro," said Gate City principal Mike Brickey. "Gate City is happy with it. I think it will be good for Gate City and I think it will make the region stronger." Sweetening the deal for Gate City were commitments from Powell Valley, Appalachia, J.I. Burton and Clintwood to keep the Blue Devils as a nonconference opponent in 2007-08 and 2008-09. It seems likely that those schools - Powell Valley for certain - would renew those contracts into the foreseeable future. Gate City has been picking up more interstate opponents in volleyball, basketball and baseball in recent years. A new district may also create opportunities for interstate football matchups in the future. Brickey's only misgiving about what emerged from Thursday's meeting is that the new district is comprised entirely of the region's largest Division 2 schools. But in the long run, that objection may be moot. The formation of the new league may encourage undersized Southwest Virginia Group AA programs that have been playing over their heads to apply for asylum in Region D. "I think Group AA in Southwest Virginia has been propped up by Group A schools for years. You take them out of Group AA and there's not much left," Brickey said. "I'd like to see Grundy, Graham and Tazewell come in eventually. I think the more big schools we have in Region D, the better." Neither Coeburn nor Ervinton are expected to have trouble with their respective assignments under the proposed plan. Cumberland membership is something the Blue Knights have sought in recent years. Geographically, Ervinton shouldn't be any the worse for wear traveling in the BDD. Battle, the newcomer with the coldest feet, seems to be warming up to the idea. Still, there will be room for arguments and objections prior to the final vote in Wednesday's Region D principals meeting. The proposal will require a two-thirds majority to pass. Proposed new members Lebanon, Virginia High, John Battle and Lee High all will have a vote. If that proposal passes, it will be forwarded to the Virginia High School League R&R Committee for consideration during its February meeting.
  14. IMO.. The officials need to warn players, and coaches of what they are seeing on the floor. Coaches know their players temperment, therefore should pull players that are at risk of doing something wrong on the floor(cool down peroid). It's T time or ejection after that. IF it goes on and nothing is done, it spills over to teamates and to angry parents and fans.. Its a bad situation. Coaches and Officials are teachers of lifes lessons out there. Its a pretty dang big responsibility.
  15. Its nice to get other view points.
  16. With all due respect. Beating Marion was a gimme.. Beating Taze will be a step.. But, your going to have to really do well to beat Carroll, Grundy or Richlands. You've gotta take care of the ball and finsh on the offensive end.. but then again so does everyone else.. I pick graham as finishing 3rd... Carroll is in the drivers seat till they come to grundy. Carroll looms big for Richlands this sat. If Richlands loses.. i cant see them winning the regular season. If grundy looses to carroll, its practically over with carroll hosting the tournament... Time will tell.. whats some other opinions..???
  17. hey 1instripes.. you know the cumberland teams.. rank these. twinsprings, rye cove castlewood and st paul.. thanks.
  18. Heres mine for what its worth. 1. TV 2. Richlands 3. Va. High 4. Gate City 5. Castlewood 6. Grundy 7. Abingdon 8. Haysi 9. Coeburn 10. Twin Springs 11. Chilhowie Porchys10 was talking about the TV guards.. How about TVs big guy Baldwin ,Lester and Shortridge is stepping it up.. Then, theres Richlands Robinsons playing good. Ashby from Grundy, Barton from Council.. Lots of good players out there. These are all just ones i've seen or read about.. maybe someone can throw a player in! Hows the QB gonna help Richlands? Hes got some size!
  19. It was not a 30 pt game... it was more like a 60 pt game. TV's "d" could have held Council to 20 pts for the game and went over the 100 mark. only my opinion. I think RIchlands mighta woke the lads up! Twin Valley 12-2 next game, next friday at Hurley.
  20. First of all.. i'm not a player and my post has nothing to do with the Twin Valley players or grundy players, schools or community.. i'm sure TV players give you all the same respect you give them which is the right attitude to have. I know they expect a game from you guys next time around! Thats respect in its self.. So, dont read anything into my sentence thats not there!! Cause theres not! I'm a fan not a player or a coach (i do not represent or speak for any TV players or coaches.. My opinion is mine same as yours is yours).. and i truly hope you get it together for sats. big game.. Last nights over and move on.. My post was about the recruiting thats been done down at TS.. thats all.. nothing being thrown toward your team. I'm sorry it might have sounded in a negative way to you.. but it wasnt mean that way at all... Again, all i was refering to was recruiting. Maybe some TS fans will come defend their position!! lol.. who know.. Good luck from here on out man!
  21. is there a local ranking of teams in the area?
  22. Lets talk about 9th grade or above.. If you know anything about VHSL rules, you'd know that where ever a player starts his 4 years of varsity sport.. thats where they go. Unless released by the local school board/supt. of schools or the vhsl itself. Kent and KT had to go before the school board to keep their elgibility. All those other kids started TV in the 7 or 8th grade. Which make it totally legal. The post that was made was about Twin Springs, which you probably know nothing about, actually go after impact varsity players. Twin Valley does not. I'm sure the door is open at any school for kids athletic or not to come to school. Its up to the school board/supt. to look at the circumstances of the transfer... then make a ruling. Now that being said, most parents do what they think is best for their kids. Theres nothing any body can do about it!! Good luck regrouping for sat. game. Wonder who Carroll Co. has recruited!! lol
  23. All.. i say all of Twin Valley players LIVE within the school boundaries and always have!! PERIOD... No recruiting what so ever was done.. The 2 players that played at Council and Grundy only came home!
  24. sorry waveman92.. that 8th grade team isnt the same team thats seniors now! Grundys gimmick "D" leaving KT open killed them to start with. Then, Kt did an excellent job defending last years SWD POY.. as did the rest of the TV players holding the grundy offense in check the entire night. Someone said no one on the grundy team got into double figures... Kudos TV "D"..... Keep it up guys.. Officials were great.. they let the kids play. What else can be said.. Big game at TV tomorrow as Council rolls in...
