  1. I agree. Hate to put pressure on the Abingdon offense, but I honestly feel their only chance to win is if they're able to turn this game into a shoot out.
  2. Perhaps someone should point out to UVAObserver that the Pulaski loss, to a Amherst team that got easily handled last week by 2A Appomattox, wasn't a surprise. Giles beat Pulaski by 9 in their preseason benefit game.
  3. I doubt this information will change anyone's opinion. Union may or may not be better than Richlands (to be determined).....but a 1 point victory due to a missed XP in OT is hardly a "case closed" piece of evidence. I have no doubt that Noaks is very good, but you would be foolish to believe a game as tight as that one ....played way back in week 2...is indicative of the relative strength of each team at season's end. I'm sure Union fans see Noak's availability for the next meeting between the two teams, if it even happens, as a reason to feel confident about a potential rematch. Richlands fans will look at the 4 turnovers, missed fg, missed XP, and over 100 yards more total offense, and draw some confidence of their own. Both teams need to take care of business to make this discussion even worth having....

  5. I call 'em like I see 'em. You're welcome.
  6. I don't understand the defensiveness about transfers. We're all lying if we act like this team would be as strong without them. They're all here within the rules, and I assume the reason kids started transferring in the first place was due to the success of the program prior to their arrival. I have no doubt that every other school in the area would accept them......
  7. One- Chase Collins. Atkinson joined the team late last year as a transfer. Ball is playing his first year of varsity football and is a Richlands original. He also scored one Friday night.
  8. That's just a old wives' tale or I would have gone blind long ago. As for Razor, I'm not sure he was investigating the right penalty. He actually says the he thinks the arm, not the hand, touches the facemask. His statement indicates the arm was raised.
  9. A defender does not have to literally be waving his arms back and forth to get the call. If he's trying to obstruct the vision by raising one or both arms...... that qualifies as face guarding. BigO, perhaps you should send private messages when you're only directing your question to one person on a PUBLIC forum. Especially when you keep making a big deal out of nothing....
  10. I'm not blind and it doesn't take an eagle's vision to see when a defensive back lifts his arm and he's not playing the ball. If YOU have to stand within 10 yards in order to see the game, perhaps you should see an optometrist.
  11. Let me explain this again. Face guarding is not grabbing the face mask. A defensive back, while running with his back to the ball, cannot wave his hands back and forth trying to obstruct the receivers vision. There was nothing controversial about that call .......the defensive back clearly did that.....and never made a play on the ball.
  12. That's because face guarding is pass interference. We all saw it and expected a flag.
  13. My understanding was that he was called for face guarding....waving his hands in front of the receivers eyes while the ball was coming and not turning to make a play on the ball.
  14. I edited it anyway. But I will say I didn't expect to hear complaints about officiating after such a butt kicking.
  15. Richlands obviously shouldn't have been favored.
  16. Im sure the average transfer to Richlands will be or has been devastated by their their lack of educational opportunities following graduation.
  17. ✅✅✅✅✅✅
  18. NIce point. I would also like to add that kids only go thru the teen experience once, and experiences and memories developed from participating with a successful high school athletic team can last a lifetime. If a family faces no additional economic hardship, and there's no significant difference in the quality of education, I can understand why any parent would make that move.
  19. I was just stating the obvious. Perhaps many of the Abingdon posters are not aware that 95 percent of the points scored by this year's Tornado team were scored by players that didn't suit up in last year's game at Abingdon.
  20. I wasn't explaining why Richlands lost last year. I was answering a question regarding why Tornado fans expect a different result this year. Also, I wasn't aware, btw, that fans from Richlands are the only ones that make excuses when their teams lose.
  21. No Ball, no Howie, no Blankenship, no Phillips, and I believe that Farris was out with injury by then. Also, I know Atkinson was new.....not sure how much he played. With the exception of Chase Collins, all the explosive players from this year's team were NA in last year's game.
