  1. Twin Springs in the top 10 is a joke IMO. Gate City beat them by 50 without their exchange student in a scrimmage and then pasted them by 30+ with him.
  2. Congrats to the Blues from GC. You guys have one heck of a team.
  3. Yeah, a knee should do it. Congrats Devils.
  4. GC intercepts pass in endzone. Ball on 20 with :55 remaining. Still 27-17.
  5. GC goes for it on 4th and 6 from the 6 after a penalty nearly killed another drive, TD GC. 27-17 GC. 2:42 remaining.
  6. GC 43 yd FG. 20-10. Penalties have killed 3 drives where we came away with 2 FG's. 1 inside the 20, 2 we were inside the 15!
  7. Radford FG after int. 17-10 30 sec from half.
  8. Clark 5 yard run. 17-0, 6:56 left in 2nd.
  9. Vaughn returns punt to radford 25.
  10. GC 37 yard FG, 10-0. Drove to the 15 but 2 penalties stopped that drive. But 3 is better than none.
  11. Gate City scores on 1st possesion, 75 yard run, Clark. 7-0.
  12. The train whistle is Gate City Football. Some of the old timers like me can still remember the old steam whistle we used to have mounted on a flatbed. The crowd would be in the stands and when Old Blue would come through Moccasin Gap from Weber City they would start blowing the whistle (you could hear it VERY GOOD) and the crowd would erupt in cheers. This tradition has gone on as long as I can remember with a whistle/horn blowing. I've saw games where the steam whistle blew so much, well, it ran out of steam! It all goes back to a song written in the late 60' early 70's to the tune of Wabash Cannonball and of course it's titled... THE BIG BLUE CANNONBALL! Watch it on youtube
  13. Well Quince, you know it rained quite a bit over the weekend and the cows haven't been let out to "mow" it yet!! All jokes aside, I just hope we can burn some clock and keep the score halfway respectable.
  14. First I had heard about this. If it is true it is sad. But I would also like to hear both sides of the story. I can't understand why in the world they would be on the track and not inside the fence as the track is usually very crowded with people walking to and from the concessions/rest room.
  15. Yes, he is the yougest Houseright. Earned a schollie for his senior season. Congratulations to Jonas.
  16. I think a lot of people over rate DB because of their size and the fact they can roll over teams like Sullivan North, South, and Central. Gate City played North for several years and North won 2 games. When the Indians roll out of their region it is a different story. DB is a finesse team for the most part and a good, physical team that can defend the pass will have plenty of success with them. There are several team in SWVA that on given years could beat DB and on most years there are 2-3 teams that could play with them. Don't let the mystique of a mythical title won in 1920 fool ya. Heck if most schools in SWVA could have their town annex entire comunities to reap their best athletes we'd all have 2,000 kids.
  17. I'm not for sure if you could use Seymour as a very good measuring stick. While they are 2-1 their only other win was against a winless Cocke Co. team who they defeated 22-0. Cocke Co's other losses were to Cherokee 24-6 and Knox Carter 65-0. So is Breathitt or Seymour teams to measure by this year?
