  1. Is Grundy still mostly throwing deep stuff or have they mixed it up a little?
  2. Exactly! Haysi has kicked off to the sideline for years, the reason being that we generally dont have alot of speed so if you kick the ball to one of the up men they probably arent gonna make much of a return out of it.
  3. I think he has the talent to play at E&H or UVA-W, although the coach at Wise seems to focus a little too much on measurables.
  4. That sounds like it hurt. Coaches should really have their players learn to hit from a stance to keep down the force they hit with, espicially when they are just learning.
  5. How is that cheap? I would call it agressive!
  6. I really doubt there is any Buc Co bias, its a matter of talent. JIB has 3-4 players with the talent of Hurleys best and probably 1-2 with more, its that simple. The Hurley players should focus on competing and representing their community, not on thinking about a regional title or anything like that. Stay grounded and focus, thats what got them to this point! I know someone is going to say "well Haysi is sitting at home and anyway they didnt do real well against JIB when they played them" both are true statements and have nothing to do with what I posted
  7. I like a little razzle dazzle every now and again but that is just stupid! Can they find no better way to score?
  8. Wise makes sense for Region D because its centrally located, it makes absolutely no sense for Region IV because it is WAY farther west than any of those schools. My guess is its just a rumor
  9. Just another idiot, the highlight of his day is to get on here and see who has responded to his rediculious b.s. post. Its sad really. I wouldnt mind seeing that ban hammer immage again (just as long as it isint pointed at me lol) By the way scholrships pay touition and if he still lived in WV he wouldnt be playing ball in VA. Richlands is loaded and can play with any D3 in the state
  10. Ive never been to the field just by it. I knew it was a nice place, didnt know it was that much better than the others that have been mentioned.
  11. maybe im just out of the loop but why @ DB? I like Bristol because it is in the middle, goes along with the whole border bash sort of thing. It could be played at Legion? Not as nice of a stadium but tons of history, ample seating and again a landmark
  12. regardless of the outcome of the game it is good to get the spotlight on players from this area! The field looks awesome and your right that is an incredible way to open it up. I think the game could be a really good thing for the entire region(SWVA and NET). I am going to do my best to be there I think it wil be a great experience for a football fan in this area, The best of the best on the field together, and on top of that its VA vs Tenn! I would like the see the game at the Stone Castle tho, never seen a game there but it is a local football landmark
  13. I think it sounds like Rowe was saying Richlands has recruited players, I dont think thats how he meant it. But he is right, the Blues would be a great team w/o the xfrs but with them they are a much better team. Its just the truth. I dont think he was making excuses, if anything he was making a statement to how good Richlands is. I disagree with sending your kids to play at Richlands so they can have a shot at state. Its not about winning state, its about competing and representing your home town/community.
  14. im a little suprised at the score, I honestly thought it might get bad! Haysi showed some heart and playd up to their potential, just couldnt get it done. Good luck to Honaker and Hurley!
  15. Honaker has a legitimate shot at winning their first round game, it wont be easy but they have a shot
  16. I played on the 2000 team, that team lacked leadership and devotion form the seniors. We did make the playoffs that year(Clintwood had to forefit their game against us, ineligable player or something) we went to Honaker and got killed(best Honaker team ever!). We really finished 4-6 but it was called 5-5, this is probably the worst Haysi team since then. Stanley hasnt practiced much this season(hes been hurt/banged up) and I would blame his drops on that(I didnt go to the game) Newberry is a great athlete(awesome punter!) but lacks natural football instincts, hes a track guy not a pure football player. The biggest problem facing this Haysi team is a lack of a steady Running Back, some players are good runners but fumble a little, others dont fumble and see the field well/make good cuts but arent great athletes. Haysi has about 8-10 kids that arent playing football that did at one time, the program is really missing those kids(RBs linemen)
  17. If Haysi made it a close game and won I wouldnt be suprised, but I dont think its gonna happen. Coach will throw the kitchen sink at Honaker and that will account for alot. If Honaker keeps the ball on the ground(and they will) they should win. A key(more so than normally) will be turnovers, Honaker will move the ball but will they fumble it? If they do Haysi could win, if Orange holds on to the ball then Red has little chance. Red has been unable to stop the run all season (except against Castlewood and Holston), Haysi can throw the ball but momentum has alot to do with it(just ask Giles), if things go well early then it sort of snowballs, if they go bad or even just average then the Hurley game happens! I think the game is Honakers to lose GO RED!!!
  18. JI Burton and Gate City are the only ones that can hope to keep it close. JIB got wore out last week but if I remember right Clintwood got killed in their first meeting last year and went on to play them close in the playoffs, it may be the same kind of situation this year just reversed
  19. Just curious, how do the WV brackets play out? Highest vs lowest all the way through or set brackets?
  20. Hate to hear a senior get hurt. Haysi is banged up but I think all the starters are expected to play. I just hope the motivated/focused Haysi team shows up!
  21. Clintwood will roll everyone in Reg D (JIB may keep it close). No one else can stay within 40 points(excluding Gate City).
  22. I honestly think Honaker is the better team, but Coach Colley is a much better Xs and Os coach than Hubbard. But Hubbard is a better motivator. On paper Honaker looks to be the far better team, I think they will win but not by a huge margin! Cant believe I picked Honaker!
  23. I have seen both teams play and Coeburn is better, now that doesent mean they are going to win. Castlewood plays hard every play and doesent quit, Coeburn has talent and can do alot of different things but the Blue Knights are a little up and down(came out flat against Thomas Walker or they would have won that one!). Im taking Coeburn 28-13, but the bad news is Gate City awaits in the first round. If Castlewood wins its just as bad, Clintwood is waiting for them. Win or lose Coeburn fans are very excited about the team, they have shown alot of improvement since last year and the new coach has them going in the right direction!
  24. caught the end of the piece, the field looks great! Lets just hope SWVA can put a solid team on the field
  25. I wouldnt mind seeing them all (D1-D6) at a single venue over a weekend. D1-D3 on saturday D4-D6 on sunday, it would be an awesome weekend! I hope to go watch the A state games this year(if I can get off work and I dont have finals that week)
