  1. I second that. This is their best shot in awhile.
  2. With the TRIBE off, thinking about heading to Lebanon to see Lebanon-Clintwood.
  3. Anytime you hold a James Colley team to 13,you deserve an "attaboy".
  4. I know we have folks on here who like to rag on JJK's schedule, but to outscore folks 188-14 through 4 games isn't too shabby (48-0 over Coeburn last night). Often teams when they know they should win a game play sloppy and look past folks. The Indians have remained intense and focused throughout. It will get interesting here in a few weeks as LPD play picks up. The only thing that the kids from Kelly can do is beat the teams on their schedule, and they are moving along.
  5. Tickled to death when I heard that Grundy won. Big,BIG win for the Wave.
  6. agreed. That would be a good one for the Haysi game
  7. (wondering if you have reading comprehension issues). To say that most CD teams have tougher schedules is inaccurate btw. I have said before that JJK will find out hw good they are with the meat of the LPD schedule on the way. I honestly believe this team will make some noise this year. Time will tell. JJK's schedule is comparable to everybody else's around (except PV and GC). Nobody has been playing word-beaters thus far.
  8. If that was directed at me,You need re-read,and you'll see that in posts I have made, that I have said that JJK will have plenty of chances this season to prove whether they are a good squad or not.
  9. Gate City is about it. Honestly, the schedules around the region aren't exactly loaded
  10. You guys are the ONLY ones in the entire region who can say anything about JJK's schedule. Everyone else is hereby dismissed. At no point did I say that JJK was this unbeatable juggernaut. In an earlier post,I gave a list of concerns. Way too many haters on here. Like I said before: We play in the LPD,which means we'll have plenty of chances to see if we are a 4th-place team or not.
  11. classy post. Thankfully,I am indeed a bigger and better man and will leave it at that. God Bless!
  12. Gotta love the keyboard warriors lol
  13. That used to be the rap on B.I. supr, but I've seen several games in the last few years when he could have RUTS (Pound this year was one) and didn't. Funny hearing that from a PVman, considering Phil Robbins wrote the book on that.
  14. That has to be one of the most ignorant replies I have ever read on here (no wonder the good folks in KY get such a bad rep). I'll do you one better: If JJK doesn't blow Coeburn out Friday night then they are in bad shape. Point being East Ridge and Coeburn aren't juggernauts. Grow up youngin'
  15. The general consensus seems to be that no one in Region D or C has a shot at winning state. If not us,I'd love to see one of our teams shove a sh#tburger down NOVA's throat. I am as avid a JJK fan as there is,but when one of our locals goes to play for it all,I go with them and root for 'em like they are my own. We get looked down on "Back Where I Come From",but I am damn proud to be a Southwest Virginian. I've been to many places, but this is HOME.
  16. The Wave will HAVE TO get plenty of heat on Chris Fleming. If the Haysi line does a solid job and gives him time,he'll throw well all night.
  17. If Hurley doesn't blow East Ridge out, then they're in bad shape.
  18. Red Onion has been good to me giving me Friday nights off,but I'm out of luck Friday. My ears will be on and my heart with the TRIBE as J.J.Kelly hosts Coeburn.
  19. I think we are a playoff squad (which is nice considering how hard hit we were by graduation). Honest assessment: We aren't going to allow anybody to get much on the ground, and we'll move the ball on the ground behind a GOOD offensive line. My concerns are an inexperienced (though physically gifted and with great size at 6'3")QB who needs to get the air game going, and a pass defense that will make big plays, but give up some as well (PH got one last night). Coach Salyers' philosophy is "You can't throw a TD pass on your back",and because we bring intense heat to the backfield, sometimes we'll give up a play or two. However, the philosophy has led to a slew of sacks, forced fumbles, picks, and defensive TDs this year. We were picked to finish 4th in the Lonesome Pine Distric this year because of the guys that we lost, and were tabbed as a "darkhorse/sleeper",but I honestly believe we are better than that. As for the schedule? We opened the season at the Cumberland Distric Champion (expected to repeat). We played Pound in week 2 ('Cats are an LPD team so there's nothing we can do about that). Come Saturday next week, the crew from Pound will be sitting at 3-1 with their lone loss to us. Last night we played a PH team that pushed highly-touted (by some folks anyway) Abingdon for 4 quarters. Unless you are the Powell Valley Vikings, then you have no right to criticize anybody's schedule in this area. TW will also be 3-1 come Saturday, making JJK's opponent's combined record being 7-4 .
  20. Right now is pretty much what matters. Nostalgia is overrated. It's not like they've played each other every year either.
  21. That isn't an apology. Me and supr are still waiting lol
  22. Glad to see things turning around in Grundy. They've had some lean years as of late (we've been there, done that too).
  23. *Ahem*...waiting..... Let's re-cap the night for the LPD: SWD favorite Richlands escapes a war with the team many have picked to finish as low as 3rd in the LPD. Clintwood hammers TN foe Happy Valley 29-6 Cellar-dwellar Pound moves to 2-1,waxing Castlewood Norton,a team hit hard by graduation and picked by others to be the 3rd-best team in the LPD goes on the road and wipes out Abingdon. J.J.Kelly,a team that folks have picked to finish 4th in the LPD humbles a PH team that gave Abingdon fits last week. I tried to tell you newcomers on here that don't know much about LPD football what time it was. The Rebels and Falcons found out tonight (especially PH). The old-timers already know. You gotta strap 'em on tight when you go to battle with the Lonesome Pine Distric.
  24. J.J.Kelly hammers Patrick Henry tonight 51-14. The TRIBE had 5 TDs on their 1st 5 possessions. PH scored on a nice hookup to Groves, but that was it. The Indian defense continued to force sacks, interceptions,as well as had a safety,as well as blocked punt. The 2nd PH TD came vs the JJK scrubs on a controversial call on a fumble (the guy was down IMO). JJK's Lucas Kerns suited up tonight after his grandfather passed away just hours before kickoff, and he had a heckuva game, absolutely gashing the Rebel defense. 3 games-1 TD allowed by the TRIBE defense.
  25. We'll not see you on here tonight. The crickets will be a chirpin' lol
