  1. You're right, O'Connor is a good coach. What was the main selling point for Leitao when he got hired? Was he supposed to be a great recruiter?
  2. UVAObserver, I always enjoy reading your posts, you seem to have great insight on the atlhletic scene at Uva. How has Littlepage let this happen with UVA football & basketball. Seems hard to believe they have fallen so much in both sports. I am a Tech fan 1st and foremost, but i do pull for the Cavs also. Surely they could be much more competitive. Does it fall in Littlepages lap or elsewhere?
  3. I've done my fair share of Stinespring bashing & i think he needs to go. But where the hell has Sturdivant been the last 4 years? When you talk about some of the great or even good linebackers that have played at Tech, his name will NEVER come up. Maybe if he could step up and make a play once in awhile, his opinion might carry more weight. But to come out bashing a coach and especially the one who recruited your sorry overrated carcass, thats just classless.
  4. UVAObserver, You are so right, Techs rivals would love to see Foster leave. As for the offense and Stinespring costing VT a shot at the blue chip high school offensive skill players, i've been saying that for a a long, long time on this board. Many people on here disagreed with me. It started back even before Percy Harvin left for Florida. It will continue until they cut Stiney loose or it eventually will cost Beamer his job.
  5. Maybe someone told Macho the story of another over-rated DB from VT. Jimmy Williams believed the hype about himself, now this clown struggles for playing time for the Falcons, one of the sorriest franchises in any sport. I think maybe someone made Macho watch a little film, like maybe the Clemson game from this year, or any game that he actually had to cover a good receiver, and he wised up.
  6. beano5, don't know how old you are or how long you've watched college sports, but loosing to Kansas in football IS terrible if you're supposed to have a 1st rate program like Tech. Turns out KU is a basketball school thats never had a respectable football team! In todays BCS world, perception and credibility are very valuable, and Tech slips a couple of notches with each Bowl loss, ESPECIALLY to inferior teams.
  7. As i said last year after VT got hammered in their bowl game and after LSU this year, these high profile losses as well as having Stinespring as the OC are going to have a MAJOR negative effect on recruiting. You cant't convince the Percy Harvins(Florida) and other offensive blue chippers to come to VT unless changes are made. Stinespring is a liability that Beamer has to deal with. If he can't deal with it, he's gotta go as well. Tech is stuck spinning its wheels while the top notch offensive talent in the State isn't interested because of Stinespring. Who recruited Kenny Lewis? Is he the best we can get? If he's a D-1 running back, then i'm the one-armed drummer from Def Leppard.
  8. The news coming out of Free Shoes Univ. doesn't surprise anyone. Bowden, the king of the "double standard", is one of the most hypocritical and unethical coaches in football.
  9. Anytime you play Salem at their place, it's an uphill battle. You have to deal with their team which is usually very good, as well as the zebras. Don't believe me, just ask Amherst from a couple of years ago. This old Martinsville Bulldog hopes Bassett stomps a mudhole in Salems rear end.
  10. yes, Glennon WAS awful but by far not the sole reason for this butt-kicking. the face-mask personal foul on c. powell on UGA's first drive of the 2nd half started the downhill slide. personal foul penalties seem to go hand-in-hand with tech FB. how about this super defense? who decided NOT to bother covering UGA's tight end while he was catching td's and 2 pt conversions? no pass rush, no coverage in the secondary, are we sure Foster is the genius we give him credit to be?
  11. How in the world did Uva and VT (And also Tennesse) miss out on Kristi Toliver from Maryland. Shes an awesome basketball player whose talent level is far above your normal freshman. Her play in the NCAA tournament was probably the was the main reason UM won the title. This underscores the importance of keeping in-state talent here, no matter the sport. Also, Pat Summitt keeps a close eye on Virginia to maintain her talent pool (shes already signed Nicci Moats from Lord Botetourt for next year). How did everyone local miss out on Toliver?
  12. bad news on the horizon, Iowa fired their coach and VT's Brand is on the short list to take over the Iowa program. Sure hope he stays at Tech.
  13. pdman, you don't seem to add anything constructive to this post. your obvious anti-Martinsville attitude seems to dominate your whinny posts. quit crying, and by the way if you're so concerned about the cheerleaders and the cheering section, put a skirt on and show folks how its done. i've got a feeling it would come natural to you.
  14. guys, i've been a VT fan for 20+ years and i still hope they run the table next year. that doesn't make me blind to the fact that this is an awful schedule. i think most of us don't belive for one minute that Weaver and Co. couldn't line up some better teams if they wanted to. this bull about teams not wanting to play VT is a myth. i want VT to one day be able to win the national championship. with these kind schedules, they won't even get the oportunity. don't forget, the caliber of teams you play has a LARGE impact on recruiting.
  15. believe me, if he knew he would have been picked high enough, he would have went pro last year. problem is , he wouldn't have been. Jimmy Williams = overhype + underachievment. hell, Ryan Leaf, Andre Ware, and other over-hyped players had plenty of talent. just couldn't get it done against the big boys.
