  1. the tazewell county school board is pathetic, and that's putting it mildly.
  2. watch out for graham and tazewell, although i think moreso graham than tazewell. t. wyatt is doing a really, really nice job with those girls there, particularly considering the environment at ghs as it relates to girls athletics.
  3. grundy hasn't beaten carroll in years. ps- watch for marion, as well. their coach is building a program there from the ground up, and doing a fine job of it.
  4. as someone quite familiar with vt recruiting and vt's recruiting practices, i can quite confidently say "um no". did i say it wouldn't be beneficial whatsoever? i did not. i said it won't be big for us, and it won't be. consider this--for years, there have been state championship games at scott stadium. how has that positively affected uva's in-state recruiting? i'll answer that one for you: it hasn't. vt pulls in va's top guys quite consistently already. and, seeing as (obviously) only two teams play for a title, most of va's top guys aren't usually in a state title game.
  5. um, no. the guys we want to go after, we'll have already gone after by that time, and the guys we want to see, we'll have come to our one-day camps. besides, it's not like beamer & co couldn't send somebody to wherever the game is played; they've been doing it for years, as it is.
  6. anybody have the link for the bdt write-up of the game?
  7. why'd he sit out football season? btw, i wouldn't look past marion in the swd...
  8. grayson lost in the state semis to eventual champion, strasburg. grayson's loss came 15-13 in 5 games. the last point came on a judgment "net" call. it was, in my opinion, a horrible call, and i officiated vball for 3yrs. but, grayson should've put them away when the opportunity was there. other state champions: aaa boys - thomas dale hs def. frank w. cox hs aaa girls - deep run hs def. langley hs aa girls - loudoun county hs def. grafton hs (one of the best vball matches i've ever seen) a girls - strasburg hs def. gate city hs
  9. [ QUOTE ] Theres always a chance that he could pack on 30+ lbs of muscle and play as a rush D-End. [/ QUOTE ] there's no way fuller plays de in blacksburg. ever.
  10. [ QUOTE ] Salem destroyed Carroll. River Ridge District is the best district in the state overall. Look at what all they dominate. [/ QUOTE ] i'm inclined to agree with you on the river ridge. top to bottom, every sport, they've always got somebody up for a state title. as it is, grayson co's vball team beat rye cove in straight sets on tuesday to advance to the state semifinals, which will be played on friday night, finals saturday evening. good luck devils!
  11. no, carroll also lost twice to region c champ grayson county. fwiw, salem knocked off defending state champ/dynasty cave spring in a close one in 5.
  12. no freaking way fuller would ever be a te in blacksburg. a.) he doesn't have the frame (specifically the height) for it, and b.) tech's got a ton of te's already: wheeler, drager, boone, etc (nosal's expected to move to ot). i've heard he'll have a shot as a possession receiver and also at safety.
  13. yeah, graham's right there with grundy fighting for the bottom spot.
  14. 6-0 richlands at half
  15. [ QUOTE ] Carroll plays club volleyball in the off season, makes you play better during the season. [/ QUOTE ] they don't play club as a team, and they only have about 5-6 kids that do play. it helps them a lot, though, the ones that do.
  16. bluefield 62, mount view 0
  17. jm/giles would be fun. i know it's not as close as narrows, but giles is definitely better competition year in and year out.
  18. okay, eh, point taken. so, if phs had more speed, then why didn't you guys bring home the w? were you outplayed or outcoached? perhaps, both?
  19. so much for the powerful speed of the indians. lol. hate it for them, but i love being right.
  20. yeah, it took me a good while to jump on the bandwagon, but this is really a great show. it's nothing like the movie or the book--it's so much more than either. imo, it should be required viewing for all football fans not attending a game.
  21. the weir game, is that the one where afterwards, the coach's father came down and punched his son (the coach)?
  22. back when the two teams played, the hokie football players i had class with would come to class complaining about having batteries thrown at them while they were standing on the sidelines in morgantown.
