  1. I heard about the scrimmage, GW lost a lot (including their coach) but I'm sure they will still be tough. I love the fact that TV is playing so much basketball before the district schedule--barring injuries, they should be rust-free by January!
  2. We could continue to talk about JV basketball but how 'bout we get back to the Panthers. Hurley may be good in the next few years but TV is the team to beat this year. Is the exhibition game with Castlewood still on for next week?
  3. You probably right Hokiepanther. Jory gave you 110% all the time though and that's hard to replace. But still with the people they have coming back you've got to feel good about the Panthers this year. What about Horne, is he back to full speed?
  4. How is Horne's knee? It must be good since he had such a good year in football. That will really be a boost because we all know he wasn't 100% last year--he played great, but still wasn't himself. Should be fun this year.
  5. Basketball season is upon us and Twin Valley is set to begin the season. What thoughts do you have for the season? Personally, I think the Panthers will miss Jory Rife's defense but maybe they can fill that gap with defense plus gain a scorer other than Horne, Simpson, and Smith. Who will fill Rife's spot?
  6. What summer tourneys was TV in this year
  7. I don't think any one really knows except for him and those around him. I was reading on virginia preps and no one knew where he was going or even if he was going to play college ball. I'm sure he will play somewhere but probably not anywhere big. But I maybe wrong though!
  8. Who is the kid on TV's JV boy's team that was real good. I think his number was 24 (maybe wrong about the number, but if you watched the JV you know who he was, he was almost a one man show). Will he be moving up next year? Someone mentioned 2 off the JV, I assume this kid was one, who is the other?
  9. Here is a good compliment from one of the guys who runs virgniapreps.com (the one who did all the updating during all the games this past week) about TV: "I was very impressed with the play of the TV Panthers. This squad worked very hard and for much of the game hel there own and out-hustled the more athletic Nelson County squad. You will not find anyone in this tournament at any level wh played harder and with more determination than Josh Smith. What a scrappy hard-nosed sophomore. Simpson should his normal skilled play, and while not flashy, Garrett Horne, while still not at 100% is a tough solid guard who is a strong leader on the team. Great season for Coach Moore's squad. All Coach Moore has done is buit a consistant winner at Pilgrams Knob, and while often overlooked , he's quickly become one of the top coaches in the state. Again, great season for the Twin Valley Panthers and the future looks extremely bright. The rest of Region D better start preparing now because the Panthers will be the team to beat next season." RNB Pretty good compliment eh!
  10. Definitely. I think they expect it. They'll miss Jory's defense but the Burniston kid played really well in the last part of the year. Plus Lucas Shortridge will improve as well. Garrett wasn't 100% this year, I don't think there's any question about that (which is one of those things that makes this year more impressive). I think he'll be back to speed next year and that will improve their scoring ability (something they missed this year). He deserves a lot of credit for fighting through the pain this year. With Josh Smith and Hunter Simpson back they'll be tough. I don't think anyone in BDD will play with them next year, which means an automatic to regionals, and there it will be tough for anyone to play with them. Should be an exciting year for TV basketball!
  11. They were only down 42-40 with about a minute to play and had a chance to tie several times but kept turning the ball over. A tough way to lose one, but they've got nothing to hang their heads about, great season! (but their would be nothing wrong with kind of holding on to this one for about a year--just for motivation!)
  12. The girls played great! They came up a little short, but come on--who thought they would get that close to the state title? Way to go girls! Should be an exciting year in TV basketball in '08-'09!
  13. Hey, on behalf of the TV faithful, we appreciate those words. You're right, if they hadn't had so many turnovers they would have won---they had 33 TO's. But, even in the loss, you have to be proud of those guys. They played their heart out and came up a little short---great game TV! I'm ready for next year!
  14. I hope you're right. GO PANTHERS!
  15. There's no doubt that TV is a big time underdog. Nelson has only lost 1 game this year (they came close to losing in the first round of their district tourney) against good teams. They've won those games for a reason. But you're right, it depends on which TV teams shows up. TV is still a young team at most positions. The article in the Bristol paper after the win vs. EM painted a picture of the experience of TV. I don't know about that. The only guys who were on the '06 team are Garrett, Hunter, and Jory. (Garrett was the 6th man, Hunter rarely played, only when they were in foul trouble, same with Jory). The point is that this is all semi-new territory for four out of five Panthers. That explains, at least to a degree, their up and down play this year. They have to up for this team no doubt or it could get ugly!
  16. Let's face it, Rick Goodman has done a great job and the girls play hard, but they're fortunate to be in Richmond. Therefore, whoever they face will be tough to match up with. I don't know anything about Buffalo Gap. So, on the other hand, they only have to win one game to make the finals! GO PANTHERS!
  17. When you get this far in tourney play I think we all know that nothing will come easy. Nelson County will be tough, but you never know. It's just one game. TV doesn't have to beat them a 100 times, just once! Maybe this time will be it (I hope it will be). Any team can be beat if the right strategy is employed. TV is a good defensive team, if they can score points they can win. Just out of curiosity, who did you watch them play on game film?
  18. You're probably right, have you seen Nelson play?
  19. I saw where Nelson County defeated Chesterfield Community. So, TV will play them in the next round in Richmond. I don't know much about Nelson County, but everything I read is pretty positive. They have one loss on the year. I don't know much else about them. Any thoughts? TV's chances?
  20. Bland won by 1. Don't remember the exact final, but Bland won.
  21. I saw on VA preps website that Floyd was up by 30 late in the game. No word on the final.
  22. TV 69 EM 62. Twin Valley on to Richmond.
  23. Appreciate that link! I noticed when looking at EM's schedule that TV and them had a common opponent--Craig County. This may not be a fair comparison since it was early in the year but didn't TV beat that team pretty handily at the Coal Field Clash? I noticed that EM only won by 1 point. Also they lost in the first round of their district tournament to Glenvar who finished near the bottom of the district (in fact, I think they lost to them twice, once in the tourney and once in the regular season). Is their district pretty tough outside of Radford? I know they were pretty good, but what about the rest?---Oops! I looked at teh schedule again and they didn't lose to Glenvar in the regular season
  24. Here is an article from the Roanoke paper on East Mont and their game against Galax--pretty informative for us TV fans: http://www.roanoke.com/sports/highschool/wb/153091
  25. Looks like you were right on the money!
