  1. Abingdon 13 Grundy 17 End of 1st
  2. Abingdon 9 Grundy 8 Time 3:50 1st qtr
  3. You can listen online to this game at WABN1230.com
  4. Another possibility is Brookville HS in Lynchburg. On second thought, Coach Woodie probably wouldn't agree to that since "Bluefield is in the middle of nowhere". lol
  5. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] For the gmens sake lets hope it isnt salem or amherst [/ QUOTE ] No, it isn't either of them...its an out-of-state school. Coach Marrs has been trying to get in contact with them since Tuesday but hasn't had any luck reaching anyone yet. James Monroe still hasn't called back either...they seem to be content with a nine-game schedule sans the G-Men. One school has contacted Graham and is willing to play them but putting them on the schedule would be a first for Graham...but at least they had the balls to step up...and I apologize to that school for every bad thing I've said about them in the past. [/ QUOTE ] Don't know how far Coach Marrs is willing to travel, but Elizabethon HS in TN might be a good one. Coached by Shawn Witten, Jason Witten's brother. Their grandfather, Dave Rider, coached at Tazewell High School several years ago.

  8. [ QUOTE ] Scored 1000th point tonight in win at Coalfield Classic. Richlands wins over Montcalm. [/ QUOTE ] Good job Ben--great accomplishment!! Know your family is proud. Go Blues!!!
  9. As other posters have stated, may you have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful new year. It has been a joy this past year to follow the "exploits" of our area young men on the football field. The Beavers in bringing home a state championship to our area and the Richlands Blues playing in their 3rd straight championship game-wow!!. To all of our area high school football teams, I salute you on a fine season. We are truly blessed with great talent in our area. May not be the largest in numbers, but don't believe any place else can rival our heart and determination against bigger odds. My prayer for you this Christmas Eve day is to be joyous with family, be thankful for blessings and most of all remember why we celebrate this season -John 3:16.
  10. [ QUOTE ] no tyler b. from graham? [/ QUOTE ] No-only Fuller, Wicks and Bailey were the 3 from this area. Barreras was an o/s player for the G-Men this season.
  11. Congrats to Austin Fuller and Shane Wicks of Richlands for being named to first team Double AA All-State by A/P Sportwriters and to Tyler Bailey of Abingdon a second team pick. Three outstanding young men who represented the SWD very well.
  12. Congratulations to the following: Austin Fuller - Offensive POY - Region 4 Shane Wicks - Defensive Co-POY - Region 4 Coach Mance - Coach of Year -Division 3 All the other players from Abingdon, Carroll County, Graham, Marion and Tazewell who were named to the 1st and 2nd teams on offense and defense. Good job guys- you represented the SWD well.
  13. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] What time are you guys heading up to Lynchburg on Saturday? Barring an unforeseen change in the weather we're going to the game. I believe we're going to be leaving about 10, that is if I can get Danielle's behind out of the bed that early...lol [/ QUOTE ] We are leaving out Friday morning around 10:30 (Danielle's grandmother is going with us). A lot of the Richlands fans are going up Friday. Don't know how long it will take you to drive from C-burg, but sounds to me like you are cutting it awfully close to getting there around game time. Gates open at 11:00 for the fans. Last year, we got in a quagmire of traffic just trying to get into the stadium and we were the first game. Do you want us to save you a seat? [/ QUOTE ] We may leave earlier. I cannot remember how long it takes to get to Liberty from C'burg, but it's definitely under two hours. If you want to save us two seats that would be great; if you can stomach sitting next to a Beaver fan...lol [/ QUOTE ] Two seats coming up!! See ya there. We are on the visitor's side this year. Better bring some sunglasses, because that side gets the sun.

  15. What a year, 3 Southwest Va teams playing for state championships in football!! Proud of each team's players, their coaches, parents and fans. Wishing the best for each team. Praying for safe travel for everyone. GO BLUES-BACK TO BACK!!!
  16. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Mayo was not the best athlete on the field that day, the two best athletes on the field that day were Austin Fuller and the Wide receiver from Rockbridge County. Obviously Fuller did something right shortly after that game the Division I offers came in. [/ QUOTE ] I disagree. I think Mayo was the best "athlete" on the field...as far as football player? Maybe not. [/ QUOTE ] Mayo was probably the fastest player on the field, but certainly not the best athlete on the field.
  17. [ QUOTE ] Wow, I appreciate all the offers to take me up. I was just kidding though. I may very well make the trip up next weekend, I always enjoy a good football game with everything on the line. Whether I make it or not good luck to the Blues, and thanks again to all those that offered a ride. Safe travels to all of you, remember to enjoy the ride b/c that's part of what makes the journey special. [/ QUOTE ] Rules hope you and Danielle can make it to Lynchburg. Need all the family members there to support the Blues!!
  18. [ QUOTE ] Bluefield is behind Richlands 100 percent. [/ QUOTE ] Thanks so much for your support. It means a lot to the Blues fans and I know it is a morale booster for the team. Go Blues!!! Git-R-Done just as the Beaver Nation did!!
  19. [ QUOTE ] Greetings from Wheeling; what a sweet night in Wheeling it is/was. Bluefield made a bunch of mistakes with turnovers, but held on to win in the end. Winning a state championship is great enough, but defeating a rival like James Monroe makes it even better. Congrats to JM on a wonderful season. Congrats to the Beavers on another state title and undefeated season. It's surreal at this point to think the season is already over and Bluefield is the Kings of AA football once again. [/ QUOTE ] Rules you need to get up early in the morning and come on back and watch the Blues play.
  20. [ QUOTE ] congrats. to the beaver-nation the coaches, players, & fans! [/ QUOTE ] Ditto to that beaver-nation.
  21. [ QUOTE ] Nope....hands down the Wicks Hit!! [/ QUOTE ] Yea, that was a great one at Hidden Valley. That little fella (Goins I believe) didn't know he had just run into a brick wall. Remember the sound very well. The thread is favorite Blues p/o moment and each fan will certainly have the one that they remember most.
  22. When Austin Fuller intercepted Mayo's throw on 3 yard line last year to seal the win for the Blues 2nd state title.
  23. [ QUOTE ] The only thing I'm going to say about this game is simply this, talk is cheap. The game will be played and determined on the field, not at the local barber shop, this message board, or anywhere else. I won't waste my time, or anyone else's time, in posting why I think Bluefield will win or trying to convince those that believe James Monroe will win. It doesn't matter who anyone thinks will win, it'll be settled between the lines on Friday night between two well deserving teams. [/ QUOTE ] Sound like a politician there Bluefield_Rules. Good post. Best wishes to the Beavers--bring it home. If you and Danielle are traveling to Wheeling, praying for your safe travel.
