  1. The difference between VA and WV is basically this......With 6 divisions for football and about 310 schools each classification has around 52 schools. The last time I looked there were only about 120 high schools in the entire state of West Virginia. Which averages out to about 40 per classification. So virginia is a little larger in that respect. The major difference is this, or at least in southwest virginia. The largest division 3 team in Region IV is Richlands, with about 769 kids grades 9-12, the last three years they played for a state title they played Turner Ashby,Rockbridge, and Monticello. The enrollments for those schools were 1111(Turner Ashby), 1071(Rockbridge), and Monticello(1143). When Graham played for the title in 01, they had about 550 kids to Harrisonburg's 1200. We are playing larger schools with more athletes. Last time I checked I never saw Bluefield beat Morgantown,Mussleman,Woodrow Wilson,John Marshall or Riverside for a state title, which are all schools in that enrollment range. Bluefield beat Grafton (570), Wayne (547), and James Monroe (483). Now that is not a slam on Bluefield by any means. You can only play who they put in front of you. But, it also gives you no right to slam on Virginia schools either, especially the ones who have played you and know that if you were in virginia you would fare no better than we have. Sometimes the truth hurts. You're right...sometimes the truth does hurt. and this is not a "slam" on graham either...so how bout some truth for ya: Bluefield BEAT all of those teams they played from virginia last year. maybe not by 30 points, but they played with them, and found a way to win one way or another. that's what matters-who gets the W. if i'm not mistaken, that's what the g-men did last year against rlands. they battled and found a way to win, and hats off to the team for that. but to you sir, my hats back on and my back turned because you obviously have 0 respect for a team who starts lifting as a team january 1, and get 1 week off for summer. 1 WEEK. lifting is never mandatory, but neither is playing time. and not that lifting on your own is bad, but it just doesn't build the kind of chemistry that being with each other every day of the year does. as for bluefield faring the same fate as graham in the SWD, i cannot argue one point or another because there's no past to it and no future either. however, i can say that the beavers are in the plus column for finding a way to win against larger opponents. for instance richlands most recently, and the biggest one in 2004 was no.1 in the State Martinsburg who's QB is now starting for WVU Mr. Nate Sowers. now i know ahmad bradshaw despite his many legal problems saw PT for the giants last year, i'm just providing an example that WV has quality players as well. Another is Quincy Wilson who played for Weir. to just finish it off, no matter how many players you have on the sidelines, the only number that matters is that there are ONLY 11 on a field for each team, at a time. bigger numbers just mean you have more to pick from. and as our 9 state championships reflect, despite our low numbers we have a high turnout of very talented players, therefore we do not need 1000 to pick from. our 550 is just fine. so i bite my thumb at you sir, and i honestly think very little of you and everybody else who downplays a team who has won a championship at all, much less 9...and you know what? they do it all with a target on their back every game because no matter how arrogant or stubborn a coach is, they all know you have to beat the best, to be the best. and if graham were in west virginia, i believe they would share the same fate that james monroe does each year to the beavers. nuff said.
  2. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] He is coaching at the 2nd premier football school in WV.. Parkersburg is the #1 premier football school in WV. [/ QUOTE ] ok, seriously? just because mr. jenkins momma fed him hungryman XXXL for the last 4 years, doesn't make parkersburg no.1 . still beg to differ, play us! nobody else in WV will, so if your the greatest lets battle it out on the gridiron. i'll even let you guys come down here to the BLU and play on our home turf. not because we can't win if we're away, but because SOMEBODY has to be away, and why not play at the nicest, newest, state-of-the-art facility, and ABSOLUTE VERY BEST field EASILY in the state of WV, if not the Tri-State area, in Bluefield [/ QUOTE ] Hey moron, before you drink another one, you better check yo'self before you wreck yo'self...Bluefield has NOTHING on Parkersburg... [/ QUOTE ] then let's prove it!!!
  3. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] watch him play a little bit, and then in 2009 watch levi take over his most desired position of QB when the very talented, championship QB will cole moves on to bigger and better things. nuff said. [/ QUOTE ] Something about this makes me laugh...<snicker...snicker> [/ QUOTE ] it must be the fact i mentioned your sworn enemy in the same sentence as the word "championship"...but i would think it would make you cringe instead of snicker! unless, it's because i said he won't be there in '09, which means you won't have to watch him whoop up on the girls from across the border nuff said. Something about this makes me laugh...<snicker...snicker> [/ QUOTE ]
  4. and just to put a little salt in your wound, no matter how much you squat and how big you boys are, you're still not winning games Mr. Grundy DSR! maybe if you had high caliber player/athletes around you at every position, such as in bluefield , you might be able to brag and hold your own along WITH the team! i mean, we didn't get these beautiful precious metals on our fingers just from liftin alot...we got them from going 13-0, beating quality opponets. but we did lift and awful lot NUFF SAID.

  6. one more thing.. you squat gurus out here are, i'm sure squatting 500 lbs. with the unfortunate dun-lop disease that comes naturally with our big "farm" boys here in WV. but how about last year's Aaron Bowes from Bluefield, weighing in at a lean mean 160 lbs, running a 4.69, and fred simon BELOW PARALLEL squatting 410, and benching and PC 250 on our last max day of the season last year. don't believe me? ask any player that played last year..and if i'm not mistaken, the squat max is on somebody's cell phone somewhere. so if that's you, please post it to humor these 200+ lb. biggins and while i'm at it, how about the 175 lb. all-state center Taylor Shepherd from Magnolia running a 4.7 and squatting 425. nuff said.
  7. so how big are these "studs"? and with that said, let's not overlook the VERY talented upcoming sophomore from bluefield, Mr. Levi Beckett who lifts with Keith Ferguson from bluefield who was mentioned before...might i add that keith weighs 60 lbs. more than levi. and might i add that levi beckett is related to former beavers who have also won state titles on different bluefield teams. and MIGHT I ADD that levi's father is a pastor, and he is no punk pushover. sorry for the near-rant, just wanted to do him some justice. you'll hear a lot of him the next 3 years...and it's been said levi is very similar to a young austin fuller from richlands. but lets wait for august, watch him play a little bit, and then in 2009 watch levi take over his most desired position of QB when the very talented, championship QB will cole moves on to bigger and better things. nuff said.
  8. [ QUOTE ] yes the Bluefield student section now is a joke. It's pointless, stupid, and I actually had to suffer through the pain of standing in it due to the lack of seats for the Princeton game @ BSC. Prior to this year, the past few years of Bluefield's student section were great and now it was just swindled down into nothing. [/ QUOTE ] it's been a joke for a good part of the season...however big games have been at least electric. With that said, tonight's 1st round upstate performance by the Beavers was simply breathtaking...literally. when the bluefield student section was chanting, the civic center would quiet down to make way for the train that sounded like it was about to barrel through the east entrance. sure, CME catholics aren't the best, but they shouw up at the right times...as does bluefield. besides, it's hard for a student section to replace the two big men in the front, especially since a good part of the seniors now play football. meaning, the underclassmen had to take the responsibility of really stepping it up and being vocal, plus the seniors that played soccer. anywho, go beavers. game's friday at 1. be there. nuff said.
  9. i think hargrave would be good for brooks and AP too, but the whole deal there is #1 getting accepted, and #2 finding a way to pay for a private school...
  10. [ QUOTE ] We at Graham started the monday after the loss 2 marion [/ QUOTE ] who did??? all 4 of you?!
  11. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Graham High School needs one football game to fill their schedule for the 2008 football season. Open dates are 9/26, 10/17, and 11/7. Please contact Doug Marrs at Graham High School, 276-326-1235, if interested. [/ QUOTE ]they could play blfd twice again like a few years back [/ QUOTE ]\ HECK no. that takes all the spirit out of the matchup because whoever wins the first one, if they lose the second one then all the glory that they have the first go around that would normally be there till the next year, would be gone. it really sucks, IMO and i played on the team when they did that...nobody enjoyed it besides the winner of the second game. so sorry, i say out of the question. keep the beaver-graham sacred and make it once a year like all football rivalries should be. keep it holy...nuffsaid.
  12. basically all of bluefields seniors were fast...the big ones were brooks, bowes, ponder, mcclanahan, and joyner. our line was pretty fast too with stone being the fastest, the two harris' at 5.0, and mike miller. so yea, a lot of speed is lost for us. our returning speedsters are lilly, patterson, kyle harris, trey williams, levi beckett, and cody wassum.
  13. after watching an interview of one of the players after he announced he was leaving, my feelings changed about rod. IF he was interested in the money only, then the would have left last year, hands down. however, the player they interviewed had nothing but good things to say about coach. he said the only time problems came up was when RR was trying to get somethign better for the players whether it be facilities, weights, training stuff, jerseys, whatever! but he was ALWASY fighting for better stuff for the players and coaching staff and that's a fact. IMO, i think RR is making a point to WVU's athletic director that this is what happens when you promise him all this new stuff, and you don't follow through. so RR isn't the traitor here..it's the athletic director. RR was just forced into this situation and he's making a statement. i hope he does well, and i hope WVU get's off the traitor wagon soon because i don't want to be around a bunch of drunk haters the whole time im up there next year...
  14. Dear Coach, We don't hate you. we simply dislike you with a passion. You're a wonderful Dr. Ed. teacher who has perfected the art of "txtn" while preaching a sermon that's somewhere between Luke and "There's no such thing as an 'accident'". i want to applaud you on your wonderful seasons you coached bluefield to losses in the playoffs, despite how well you really did do during the regular season. i can only hope that you lost your ability to completely change the way your team's game is played once they reach playoffs, and i can only hope they return for each and every Bluefield vs. Kitty Cats games. Good luck on your season sir, and i'm looking forward to seeing you strut into BHS with your county car, coffee mug, newspaper, and cell phone charger monday morning so i can give you a nice big "good game " Most Sincerely, Nuffsaid
  15. [ QUOTE ] When herbstreit and corso said "I wish i had a son like this" or something like that I just lost it.... [/ QUOTE ] hahaha-i agree. i thought about offering kirk a sock because things might get messy if he kept on about TT like that!
  16. [ QUOTE ] I want to kiss epsn to find out with Tebows Penis tastes like.... [/ QUOTE ] tastes like amazing apple pie! at least one of the most humble hiesman speech's in the history of the game says that's what it tastes like. can't tell if you're hating or not, perhaps you're just commenting on kirk's comments after he spoke...but nonetheless, tebow def. has the stats, brains, heart, and faith to be worthy of that award as a sophomore. run DMc, great back...see you next year wherever you are. tebow, can't wait for a better season next year, and an awesome game against michigan!
  17. that's also before the entire coaching staff of bluefield paraded in there, took a picture all around JPS, and left the room as he awaok yelling, "this isn't a damn frat house!" ahh..the fruits of our labor were surely enjoyed, and for this senior will be forever long live Paul Sutphin!
  18. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] This is when depression sits in! [/ QUOTE ] Yes, it does. However, having won a state title makes the off-season a little more bearable... [/ QUOTE ] INDEED
  19. what's the history behind this? i mean, is there a significant game in history that this was actually proven that a team did this, or is it just a popular excuse for losses?
  20. beaver's seniors either have 3 more days of high school football, or 10. not foreshadowing or anything, but i can promise you if ANYBODY doesn't do their job, they'll make sure somebody is put in there that does. and that's exactly what's going on at practice...more reps at more positions for more players. and the same goes for special teams. look for them to be much better this friday.
  21. marion fumble! g-men down 12-18 with 4:00 left
  22. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Graham doesn't stand a chance in this game...its a Richlands-dominated officiating crew... [/ QUOTE ] Come on now Gman... It's a little early in the game to start with the excuses!! [/ QUOTE ] 1st half...Graham...10 penalties for 115 yards...in the words of Deak...'nuffsaid... [/ QUOTE ] indeed and jonathan brewster is out with a tear jerking wrist injury...looked serious enough for him not to play the latter part of the 2nd quarter, and to walk the sidelines with his helmet nowhere in sight. if he's done, i would have to admit that grahams chances are much slimmer than they were with him. and if it weren't for the fumble following Marion's first score, the G-Men would be in a much better position...perhaps a winning one. turnovers and penalties...nuffsaid.
  23. i'm looking for a link to a live feed of bluefield's game tomorrow...anybody know the link or station off hand?
