  1. If it folds up and has wheels on the bottom consider it sold. Ill be down to get at your convenience.
  2. You will laugh and maybe even shed a tear even if you are not from WV http://michaelpowelson.wordpress.com/
  3. Yes dont really want to pay 600 bucks for a new one. Just looking for a used one that can be set up and then folded up and rolled into corner. If you have an old one like that in decent shape price it.
  4. Anybody got one in their attic or garage they want rid of?
  5. There is no rule like that. Most umpires I know that have children refrain from calling games that there kids play in period, let alone are pitching in but there is no rule prohibiting it.
  6. Exactly my point, yall dont call what is in the rule book. Thanks for agreeing with me. Players and coaches would adjust, trust me my players dont hand check etc. they are taught by the rule book and I would greatly appreciate it if the officials would call it that way. I can not speak for others on the subject only myself.
  7. Rule 10 Section 3 Article 6f. Player Technical Fouls Faking being fouled, ....... The way it reads yeah it should be a technical foul, but like everything else the officials have there own INTERPRETATIONS of the English Language. What I find very interesting is that I always hear ADVANTAGE/DISADVANTAGE from the officials but I dont ever see it in the rule book anywhere. Answer this one for me officials: If you foul a shooter but he makes the shot, did you gain an advantage. He made the shot anyways, hmmm guess there should never be another three point play in the history of basketball. One of these days when a referee tells me hand checking is ok they are not gaining an advantage I am gonna have a girl get an inbound pass and walk to half court with the ball under her arm and if they call traveling I am gonna ask how did she gain an advantage? Call what is in the RULE BOOK. Basketball would then go back to being a game of skill.
  8. These are high school kids, they are not scholarship players. There is no point none embarassing kids to the degree that they are doing. I tried to schedule Summers County years ago and was unable to at that time. We were pretty good at the time and wanted the competition, but I knew going in it would probably be at least a 40 point loss. Several years ago they beat Liberty by over 100 points. It was like 117-12 or something like that. Was that really called for? You want your subs to work on the press then put them in 4 minutes into the game when the score is already 20-2 and let them press. Then put your starters back in whenever and dont press so that they can work on half court offense in preparation for the team that might be able to handle your press. And how are you gonna feel when the other team gets tired of it and decides to play rough and injure a couple of your starters in the game up 50. Wonder why people wont schedule them, take a guess, they dont want their girls humiliated. Throughout the late 90s and early 2000s I took numerous beatings at the hands of MCA. Often times the same situation, starters in and pressing very late into the game up 40. The first year MCA was down (bad recruiting year i guess), I had a very good team. Many of those girls had been beat bad the previous year by MCA and it had stuck with them. Our first game with them we led probably by close to 30 at halftime. I only had 8 players on the team and they all were pretty good. At halftime I told the girls we were not pressing anymore and would play many different combinations to work on different things. They said but coach, and I told them, those are not the kids that beat you last year and that is not the coach that beat you last year, we are not embarrassing those kids like they did to you. After the game when I emerged from the locker room a fan from MCA (elderly gentleman) made eye contact with me and said coach I want to tell you something. I immediately thought oh great he thinks we ran it up and Im gonna have to bite my tongue but he said the following: "I been watching basketball here for a lot of years, and Ive seen you take a lot of unnecessary beatings. You had the chance to pay us back tonight and choose not to. I want to thank you for that.' HE UNDERSTOOD!
  9. According to Meadow Bridge coach he thinks the Gunnoe twins are actually right across the border in Summers County so they are not out of district. Live closer to Meadow Bridge but are in Summers County. Talked to some people in the know and just about everyone says that this years Summers County team would beat any team that MCA had back in the day.
  10. Dont think that he recruits anywhere close to the extent the private schools do but the Mack girl is from Athens (Pikeview District Mercer County) and the Gunnoe sisters from what I have been told are from Fayette County Meadow Bridge district. Not in any way trying to take away from their accomplishments and Waynes program, it is outstanding.
  11. I would contact the school and have them to get them and perhaps could do a fundraiser of some type (raffle or auction) to raise money for the school athletic programs.
  12. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lets say Bluefield played Pikeview in the state football playoffs. The game was highly competitive only to be decided in the last minute when Bluefield intercepts a pass near the Pikeview sideline. The kids from Bluefield near the play celebrate accordingly knowing that victory is assured. The receiver from Pikeview in disgust thinking he is being taunted gets up and pushes a kid from Bluefield. The kid from Bluefield pushes back. Seniors from Pikeview on the sideline knowing that their season and careers are over, and having no love for Bluefield storm the field and begin brawling with the Bluefield players. Bluefield offense alreaded headed to the field to take a knee and run the clock out see this and rush to the defense of their teammates. It takes security guards and police to break up the fight. Officials announce the ejection of SEVERAL players to both coaches. The coaches agree to end the game at this point and everyone leaves the field. Days later you receive word from WVSSAC that SOME more players from Bluefield have been determined to have participated in the fight and thus will have to sit out the next game. You are a teammate: Would you have let your teammates absorbed a beating while you watched? You are Freddy Simon: You feel that Pikeview taunted your players and played dirty all game and started the fight hoping to disqualify some of your players from advancing. You also feel that proper procedures for their ejection were not followed. Knowing that the SSAC has NO APPEAL PROCESS, do you seek due process in the court system. You are the SSAC: You view the video tape and see numerous people involved in the fight, do you make suspension based on what you see in the video tape? Is it conclusive, can you see numbers, can you tell if people where fight or trying to break up a fight. You are Bluefields next opponent: YOu lose to them. Do you appeal the loss, feeling that Bluefield used inelgible players. If you are not a fan of Bluefield insert you hometown team in their place. It is easy to look from outside and make a judgement call that doesnt affect you or your team. Put yourself in the shoes of the players and or coach and school, and consider what the circumstances may or may not have been and think what you would want done. To my knowledge, no one who posts on here was at the game or knows all the facts. Ill sit back and enjoy the responses: FLAME AWAY __________________ If at first you dont succeed, maybe you just suck.

  14. Agree and Disagree. Yes the courts should stay out of it, but the reason they are involved is because the SSAC was NO APPEAL PROCESS. None! I think the courts would not intervene if the SSAC had an in house rule to handle appeals.
  15. Need to come from this. First they need to rewrite the rules so that they allow the officials jurisdiction to continue until a post game conference is held and video footage if available is reviewed. The way the rule is stated now that is not the case and one of the big argueing points in the court cases. Secondly, the SSAC needs to have an appeals process within. Currently the officials are judge, jury, and executioner with no third party involvement. I am not a judge but the courts are probably looking at that as being unconstitutional, thus feeling the need to get involved. Several years ago, I was ejected at a game and what the official wrote on the report, and what actually happened were two entirely different things, but yet I had no way, other than the court system to appeal the ejection. I hope to see at least two rule changes come about because of this situation.
  16. I had a good laugh when I read it this morning. Hadn't been on in a while so I decided to drop by and see how bad the Stew bashing was going and everyone was making there pitch for who the new coach should be and right before my eyes I see a thread "HIRE JOE TRABUCCO BEFORE ITS TOO LATE". A whole new offensive staff was suggested.
  17. Does anyone on here go by that name on there.
  18. You may not have agreed with Stubby nor did I about everything and yes I too was but a lad, but he did a great deal for the athletes from southern West Virginia. I can remember waiting anxiously for the All Area teams to be announced and the West Virginia All State teams always had many deserving representatives in great deal because of him. Many of the Northfork boys got recognized despite there lack of media coverage throughout the state. Now a days, many of the athletes from the southern end go unrecognized on a state wide basis unless their teams either wins a state championship or at least makes the state tournament because we dont have a strong force like Stubby was to lobby for them.
  19. Im not a coal miner, and I dont play one on tv. So from an uneducated idiot on the subject it appears to me that there are bad consequences to both. Old abandon mines have there own problems as well. Havent there been explosions from old mines filled with gases and floods from old mines filled with water. If mountain top removal sites are reclaimed there is minimal damage to the environment. Yes, we need the coal, Yes we need the jobs. Let the coal companies do there job the easiest and best ways that they see fit within the laws of the land. Let them lobby to change the laws if they see fit. And yes I would rather have a congressman that takes contributions from a coal operator than one who takes them from terrorists.
  20. I miss the really old days of Stubby Currence and the Press Box.
  21. Just interested to know what various schools in the area do after school on nights when they have home footballs games. Do the kids go home and eat and then report back? Do boosters feed the kids a pre game meal? Whats the norm in the area?
  22. How many batteries does it take to light up Lane Stadium? 1-AA.
