  4. Abingdon plays 4 single a schools plus Southwest schedule . Carroll County plays a harder schedule with Bassett , Patrick co. , Christiansburg , and Grayson co.. Graham plays some tough games with Bluefield , Cave Spring and Princeton , along with Va High . Grundy has not been good for a while , losing students . They do not really play anybody . Marion plays a single a schedule that is not really traditionally tough schedule , except for possibly Lebanon . Richlands plays all single a teams albeit at least 2 are usually good and one sometimes very good Tazewell plays about the same as Richlands . Travel issues complicate these teams scheduling . Tunstall plays a single a schedule but they do play Gretna and Rustburg . Patrick County does play 3 aa teams but not usually powerhouses . Martinsville plays a harder out of district than its district schedule with Brookville , Heritage , Liberty , Halifax , Morehead NC , and Franklin County . Bassett plays a very tough schedule with Carroll , Patrick Henry , Jefferson Forest , Christiansburg , Franklin County , and Amherst . Blacksburg plays Giles , Liberty , Northside , Patrick Henry and Lord Botetourt . Cave SPRING PLAYS Staunton River , Graham , Northside , Patrick Henry , Allegheny . Christiansburg plays Floyd , Giles , Carrol County , Bassett , and Patrick Henry . Hidden Valley plays Patrick Henry , William Byrd , Lord Botetourt , Brookville and Northside . Pulaski plays Radford , Northside , Patrick Henry , William Fleming , and Amherst . Salem plays Lord Botetourt , Frankin County , William Byrd , Northside and William Fleming .
  5. This was posted on Va Preps ! REALLY!? Reply Believer97- Please name the schools that you know have Four DIFFERENT Advanced PE classes in which their football players are allowed to take each year they play football? Also, name what other school system allows a "majority" of their football players to be placed into the same class? Also, per interviews conducted on WSLS TV, the students from this class said they were doing "Down blocking drills" and "hitting bags" while the Head Coach was present "during the school day". So, please name the schools you said you know have the same arrangement as Pulaski????? (FreeLunch and other delusional Pulaski Fans, if practicing down blocks on bags is NOT practice, please tell me what is?) I realize the class in question this past spring was held during 3rd block, which is not the last period of the day. However, do you know what period this "Advanced PE Class" is being offered this fall during football season? Is it the last period of the day? Which period was this class offered last fall? (3rd block or 4th block). In years past, I know this class was offered during the last period of the day during football season, and it was made up mainly of football players. You really believe that this did not provide Pulaski County with an advantage? You don't think these coaches had these kids watching film, receiving treatment for injuries, covering football assignments all prior to practice or the game and all being done during the school day, inside the Pulaski County Field House? Yes, maybe Jack Turner did not take full advantage of this situation or maybe the Pulaski County Administration started to take away some of the privileges, but Joel Hicks took FULL Advantage for many years. On the Pulaski County Web Page, I copied the Course Offering for the Advanced PE class. This class at Pulaski is for one credit and is open to 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. Those numbers below the credit - 7664, 7667, 7669, 7669 represent FOUR different classes, therefore, a student at Pulaski County can take this class four DIFFERENT TIMES and receive one credit hour. PULASKI COUNTY PHYSICAL CONDITIONING (1 credit) 7664/7667/7668/7669 Grade level: 9, 10, 11 and 12 Prerequisite: None Physical Conditioning is designed to improve the skill level of students through participation in running programs leading up to a 5K run, agility training, weight training, and circuit training. As a result of the course, the student will become stronger, more physically fit. If we compare Pulaski’s PE class this to the other RRD schools (posted below), you will see based strictly on class offering, that Pulaski has had and still has a distinct advantage in the number of classes offered. What I find very hard to believe, that Pulaski is allowing student/athletes to graduate with four 1 hour elective PE credits: I know for a FACT that no other district school allows ONLY or a "majority" of football players into these classes, yes EVEN SALEM. Some district schools has their Head Coach teaching this class but only two that I know of (Weaver at HV, and Cromer at Christiansburg)and both of them are certified PE teachers. Now, I cannot speak to as when these classes are being offered (last period of the day, etc), but as you can see below, other district schools CANNOT get their football players enrolled into a PE class every year they play football. Roanoke County Schools - 1 class for half credit, thats it. Salem City Schools - 2 different classes with only one counting as a half credit. Montgomery County Schools - 2 different classes limited to 11th and 12th graders and second class does not count as a credit. PULASKI - STOP trying to protect a legacy and tradition. Your kids are paying the price. They only know and are doing what the adults are telling them. Again, I wish them the best this season. ROANOKE COUNTY SCHOOLS STRENGTH TRAINING AND CONDITIONING 7150N Credit(s): .5 Prerequisite(s): PE 9 Grade level(s): 10-12 The focus of this course will be physical Conditioning with an emphasis on strength Training and the skills and knowledge necessary to develop a personal fitness program. A variety of activities will be incorporated to enhance both the health and skill related components of fitness. School(s) offering course: CSH, GH, HVH, NH, WBH SALEM CITY SCHOOLS Weight Training (7650A) Prerequisite: None Credit: 0.5 GPA: 4.0 This elective course is designed to provide students with opportunities to ac quire basic knowledge/skills in weight training that may be used in physical fitness pursuits. Students will use all Nautilus equipment, bicycles and sit-up machines. Stu dents receive individualized instruction and become familiar with cardiovascular conditioning. Weight Training 2: NC (7650B) Prerequisite: Weight Training 1 Credit: 0.0 This noncredit course is designed for those students who have success fully completed Weight Training 1. MONTGOMERY COUNTY SCHOOLS Advanced Physical Education VDOE/MCPS Course Code: 76400 Credit: 1 Elective Prerequisite: H/PE 10; Membership in Grades 11-12. Advanced physical education includes participation in physical activities that contribute to personal enjoyment and the attainment and maintenance of personal physical activity goals. Students will participate in various forms of exercise including weight lifting, running, agility, core and abdominal training, and flexibility exercises. Preference will be given to 11th and 12th graders. Due to the fact that this class is a physical conditioning class, it can be repeated for duplicate credits; however it may only be taken once in a school year. 6. if they scrimmage out of state , say in West Virginia , they can still scrimmage!
  7. Could this be potentially the greatest offense in the history of Va Tech ? They definitely have questions on defense but I am asking the question about talent ! We had Lee Suggs and Kevin Jones but here is a list of returnees: Tyrod Taylor 13 td 5 picks big improvement over 2 tds and 7 picks , which the improvement in receiving did help . Ryan Williams 1655 yards ACC freshman record Darren Evans 1265 yards 2008 set out last year. Josh Oglesby 78-335 moved to fullback could be running the fullback a little more David Wilson probably will redshirt but provides depth. Jarrett Boykin 40 catches 835 yards Danny Coale 30-614 Dyrell Roberts 22-390 They also have Roberts and Jayron Hosley to return kicks ! Offensive line returns 3 starters Jaymes Brooks Beau Warren Blake DeChristopher The big question marks are special teams and defense , which may be a blessing in disguise because those are the areas where Tech is usually the best and should get better as season progresses , which brings up the Boise State game . Are we good enough defensively to score enough against them?
  8. If so ,. who is in it and where is the closest Taco Bell ?
  9. From what I understand, during school hours apparently some physical conditioning class where blocking techniques were being coached and filmed by coaches to evaluate weightlifting techniques and blocking techniques during offseason . Apparently , was filmed and at least partially taught by coaches. First of all , the big problem was probably during school hours. I am not a expert here but I feel for the Pulaski County players and fans , especially the seniors . Obviously , a big mistake in judgement that caused the VHSL to think they have to do something but the players will bear the brunt .
  10. http://blogs.roanoke.com/sosalem/2010/07/05/photos-of-salems-richard-morgan-at-basketball-camp/ atrick Henry point guard Melvin Henderson, who led Patrick Henry to the Group AAA semifinals and was named the Northwest Region player of the year, has committed to Bluefield College. The 5-foot-10 Henderson averaged 10.9 points and 3.9 assists per game for PH, which advanced to the state tournament for the first time since 1992. Bluefield, an NAIA Division II member, is coached by former Salem High School and Virginia star Richard Morgan. The Rams were 17-16 and finished in a four-way tie for first place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

  13. Cave Spring only block to state semi final appearance against Brookville or Northside. Turner Ashby is now division 4 I believe and Region 3. What other state teams are good in division 3?

The best football players usually have a combination of all of it .
  21. Kept quiet could be family because of sudden decision or health. Here is his record: 03 6-4 04 8-2 05 5-6 lost in region semi to salem 7-34 06 2-8 07 7-4 lost in region semi to salem 7-17 08 12-1 lost in state semi to Amherst 7-13 09 2-8 overall record 42-33 River Ridge district record 17-18 2-8 against arch-rival Salem, both wins in 2008 By contrast , Salem in same period , from 2003, was 78-9 , 70-7 since coaching change in 2004 from Willis White to Maghenbauer .
  22. Outside linebacker Seth Fisher 6'1" 210 starting to get a lot of looks from colleges . 4.5 40 yards bench press 330 squat 435 power clean 320 http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=112934&season=2011&action=upsell&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fncf%2frecruiting%2ftracker%2fplayer%3frecruitId%3d112934%26season%3d2011
  23. With Adam McGarrell back at quarterback who threw for 1736 yards as a junior and a multitude of receivers to throw to Salem should be pretty good. Their defense will be nasty as the whole defensive front and linebackers return. I believe this team will challenge once again. Coach Maghenbauer lost the Barnette twins to the university of Richmond but the defense could be even better and successes in the weight room give hope to a better offensive line. After an undefeated regular season late season injuries slowed down the Spartans last season in a very tough year. After years of 13-1 14-0 11-1 12-1 9-3 and 11-1 , Salem looks for another state championship.
