Anybody else notice that all of the road teams won this week on this end of the State. Richlands-- Gate City-- Harrisonberg-- and Eastern Montgomery. Great day to be a road warrior. I wish Clintwood could have won but Congratulations on a great season. Eastern Montgomery must be the real deal as well. Go BLUES and DEVILS next week.

We arrived in Brookville early today and had a chance to talk with Mr. Beecraft (quarterbacks father), he just stopped to say hello and welcome us to Bees stadium. We also talked to the princpal of Brookville high school, and he gave the same sentiments. They are super nice people and very hospitable. We were kidding before the game about our little rivalry of meeting in the State semi-finals (3 times in 4 years). Maybe we can keep it up, that would be a great rivalry to have. Just wanted to say if they are here congratulations on a great season and keep you're heads up. We played the best game we have played this season today and sometimes its just you're day, like last time we were here 2 years ago it was you're day. Beecraft just did not have time to do much but he showed a lot to get back up everytime after some vicious hits. I hope he is fine. I hope Beecraft has the same opportunity to get back at us in 2 years like our seniors did today for the 47-0 thumping you gave us when they were sophomores. You notice I just said opportunity. Congratulations Big BLUE. You guys played a great game today. Flat out played the best Defense, Special Teams and Offense I have seen a Richlands team play period. I have seen all of the title runs starting in 1992 and this is the best individual game I have seen a Blues team play. That does not take anything away from those teams ethier, some great teams. This was just a phenomenal effort today. I don't even know if Cave Spring was any better than Brookville. I think we would have beaten a lot of teams like a drum today. Keep you're nose to the grindstone and remember we have no respect, not yet. HaHa PS I think we were the faster team, they just could not match our speed.

I AGREE 100% MavsRock. This was a bunch of thugs out of control period and both teams should be penalized. We can not allow free for alls in High School football games. The winner of the game should be out of the Playoffs and the next team in line recieve a by. In this situation it would be the State title. The other team involved should also have a penalty. Send a message this will not be tolerated.

I don't now how it will effect the game Saturday but the forcast has changed to Snow and Rain high around 35 degrees. Good football weather. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

I have watched them all year against much smaller and outmaned lines, and sometimes they just don't bring the same intensity every play. I know sometimes you rest on the field a little, but with the level of competition now we can't afford to have them ease up at all. It appears that this is probably the best defensive line we will face and a couple of plays off from anybody may cost us the game. I am not knocking the O-line at all as they have been stellar all year but you can't tell me you have not seen them just take plays off now and then. Sometimes because we were up by 40, and sometimes when the game has been close, but they have done it. I personally think that the O-line is the most important part of any offense. If they don't get it done you can not win consistently. They are the heart and soul of every good offense. I think our guys will get it done or I would not pick the blues to win.

Yea, No offense to Salemkind but since Christiansburg has gotton past them this year I would like to see them win it all as well. Salem will not be down long and they better get it done while they can. I do enjoy the posts from the guys up that way giving us some insight of thier perspective of those teams we will face from that direction as well as what people up there think of Richlands. Whether its possitive or negative it is what it is. Salem has a lot of haters because they have won for years and i think we are starting to get a few haters as well and thats OK. People may hate Salem but they do respect them.

Thats what I thought and it makes me a little sad. But you did use a 4 minute mile for me- so hey- thats OK. But the kid in the story is really fast and probably will be on TV Saturdays real soon. I think the hokies have a good chance to beat Fl.State. Its pretty funny how when the ACC merger with Miami and us took place it was supposed to be the battle of FS and UM for the BCS every year and they can't beat Va Tech and Georgia Tech. Go Hokies and keep the Florida schools out of the BCS as much as possible.

When I heard it my engineer mind also had to do the math and it is hard to believe even with the numbers. My question is could you beat the kid to the 40 yard line, you at full speed and him at dead stop. I have not done this math, but I'm afraid he would win.

I was not trying to turn this into some big deal about Va Tech. Hea, they are just part of the landscape of college sports now, like it or not. I know that most of the guys are not bad or dumb but my point is that if you're good enough you can be. I do hope for the good of high school sports in West Va that the State officials do stand up to the Courts and make everybody obey the rules in place. To say it was after the game was over and it was a fight on the football field with players dressed is obsurd. Does not matter what the clock said. Just example of Mommy's and Daddy's with money and/or power trying to control the game.

That made me think of the commercial about drag racing and if a Nascar car at 200 MPH went by the starting line of a Funny car sitting still, that the Funny car would pass the Nascar car before the quarter mile mark. If i were running full speed and went by him standing still then he would pass me before the 40 yard mark.

You're right about his numbers being low because of playing time,and scouts need to see him personally to appreciate his abilities. If he continues to work hard this offseason he could be a big, big time player. He hits like no-one we have played this year. Cole wanted nothing to do with him. When he gets a big hit on someone it changes the way they play the rest of the game. I think he will get plenty of offers next year and I do hope his grades are good enough to move on.

Yea, I read about a couple of those guys and it worries me a little. If they can get the better of our O-line it could be a long night. Our O-line is good but they take plays off sometimes. I hope they come out and play hard all game long.

I was eluding that should have been his last play. Beamer should have gotton rid of him well before that happened. Also Beamer should have made it clear this type of behavior will not be tolerated. He does not because he likes the Newport News, Hampton area players which all are very good but seem to not have any discipline. The likes of the Vick boys (two thugs), D'Angelo Hall (thug), and many more to numerous to list. VT grad for sure (Class of 1983) and big fan back then when we had a good coach which understood what college sports is really about, character developement and teamwork. Ha Ha just kidding, But at least the inmates were not in charge as it is now. I grant you that a lot of them could not read past 5th grade level back in those days. Had my share of classes with them. I guess Va Tech is just like every other college around now as the good players are always right and just kiss thier a$$ to keep them around. I know Beamer is good at the puckering part as are all successful program coaches now in the golden age of college sports. They are building our next generation of convicts. I don't know if you have ever attended college but if you think college sports has got anything to do with higher learning then you would not qualify now. I still pull for my team and Beamer is a winner, but I know what it is all about now and don't fool myself. Win at all costs and keep you're job.

I think it is a shame when the courts get involved in high school sports. If there is a rule is in place to sit out a game after being involved in a fight or after leaving the bench during a fight, then what does the courts have to do with it. I hope the State of West Virginia stands up for the rules in place and does not allow them to play or just forfeits the game for SC. High school sports is a priviledge and the State does not have to allow rule breakers to be there. You can't send a message to the young men involved that thay can get out of the rules we live by or we all pay the price later. High School should get you ready to be a productive member of society after graduation and not always looking for an angle to bend the rules. Just wait and see if there is not some 2-bit lawyer and a couple of thugs looking to make a buck on the back of one of the police or security people there during the fight. Does this country have any integrity left? I am a VA tech grad and love my team, but when Little Vick stepped on the Louisville player and Beamer did not sit him for a game then I lost a lot of respect for Beamer as a coach and would be fine with him moving on. If we go back to a .500 team with character so be it.

I think we will have trouble with thier speed everywhere but we have enough speed to deal with it. I hope we have a slight edge with the strength of the lines and this makes a wash for the edge to them for speed. I think this is a very close game on paper and it will come down to turnovers and execution. We have a senior laden team and this should be where the seniors will make a difference. They have been there and done that so I think overall we should have less mental breakdowns. Our offense struggled last week and that also may play to our advantage as they learned that they don't have to be perfect to win. I think they will be much looser and play our kind of ball this week, attack the entire field. Richlands 42--Brookville 33

That is a tough schedule for anybody much less a single A team. You guys will probably come out of it pretty good knowing you're program. I do know you loose a lot like we do at Richlands, but hopefully you will have another class coming to pick up the slack. I know we will be young (20 seniors) but have some pretty good guys coming back to help the youngsters. We may be good by the end of the year.

Yea, I have seen the game simulator and it never gives the Southwest area teams much credit. It is correct about 50% of the time or like flipping a coin. The Calpreps site is right most of the time and has been on target for Richlands all year and almost always gets the score right to the number. It can be wrong but I think it may be more scientific than the Va preps where an eastern sportswriter puts in his pick basically. They pick the teams they have saw play and I am sure none of them have seen any of the area teams play. I know if I were a gambling man where I would go for help to place a bet- the 83% correct site or the flip of a coin site? Hmmmm That said calpreps has Richlands by only 1 point so its basically a tossup.

I kinda knew what you were doing RHS1987. I was just saying we need to be ready for them more than anybody else we have played since it is on the road. I am like you and think it is good that our guys remember the a$$ kicking we had there last time. Maybe our offensive and defensive lines will be ready to just play some snot slinging smashmouth football. I think if they get fired up and stay that way they can pretty much just outperform anybody we play this year up front. We should be able to run it down anybodys throat when we really want to. If our offensive line lacks anything it is just being mean all the time. I am not talking about dirty but just want to put the opposition on their butts every play. I think we can.

If you use the records of opponents to judge the teams then we would just suck. I as a Richlands fan know how follish it is to use the records of opponents to judge how good a team is. I figure Brookville is the best team we have faced since they are in the semi-finals of the State and no-one else we have played is, except gate city and they are in D2. I think it will be a dogfight to the end. We need to play mistake free (no turnovers like last week and keep penalties to a minimum). I think we can win but it will not be easy,especially there. Last time we were there they left a bad taste in my mouth. Its been a long time since we have had a loss like that. I'm sure our seniors remember it as well but maybe thats not all bad.

CALPREPS.COM has all three of the Southwest Virginia teams picked this week to advance. This means nothing but it is interesting to see this computer picking site has all three of them picked to advance to Finals. The site has an uncanny prediction accuracy as I have kept up with it this year and it is very seldom wrong. It uses computer data only and makes picks using the scientific method, let a machine pick them. The Richlands game is the closest score predicted at 1 point (35 Blues and 34 Bees). Clintwood is picked 31-27 and Gate City is picked 27-20. I hope it is correct this week as well. It has a projection accuracy of over 80%for the entire year in VA. It was 20 and 4 last week of VA Playoffs and that is 83.3%.

Unless they take turns on punt returns.

It should be a heck of a game Saturday and if I were not going to Brookville I would be there to support the Greenwave. Not many times 2--12 and 0 teams face each other. Its obvious one of the teams will be very disappointed Saturday but a 12 and 1 season is nothing to hang you're head about. Good luck Greenwave --and Blue Devils

Thats true Ryan, we have a lot of excellent playmakers and the coaches seem to do a good job of spreading the ball to all of them. It was good to see #4 get a big catch last week as well. It makes scouting us very hard.

I agree 100% Ryan, those of us at the game need to make noise like never before. Really make the Richlands players feel like they are at home. This Brookville team is a real test and our fans can help them this week. I am resting my voice all week just to loose it next Saturday.
