I would love to see this being a good game, but I really can't see that happening. Maybe almost getting beat by Appy will light a fire under the Vikings, but I still don't believe they'll be able to hang w/Gate City. Despite having made the playoffs this year, I'm pretty unimpressed with PV. I'm guessing GC - 36 PV - 7

Obviously your team isn't loaded up this year or they would've beaten Haysi, Honaker, or BFE, West Virginia. You keep talking about all these bigger schools having all these advantages. None of the schools in your division have more than fifty more students than you. In fact JIB has less than Hurley. Just because this is the first year Hurley has put together a mediocre team in a long time, it doesn't mean they should get in the playoffs. Just out of curiosity, does anybody know the reason Hurley didn't schedule Grundy this year? If they had beaten them (unlikely), that would've been a good way for them to pick up points while actually playing a team nearby.

Region D is by no means the only region in the state with a four team playoff. Again, why does YOUR team deserve to be in? They have a record of 7-3...that's not bad. But if they had scheduled tougher opponents and beaten them, they would've gotten more points. Your opponents had a combined record of 33-57...that's weak. Only Ervinton had a weaker schedule. And that's in the ENTIRE REGION.

Heck, why don't we just let everyone in...why stop at six? I bet in a six team system, team number seven would say that they deserved to be in. Not every region in the state is doing the six team playoff. So your argument that every other region does it is nonsense. You act like Hurley was the victim of some sort of conspiracy to keep them out of the playoffs.

I don't think St. Paul or Pound is much to brag about. And they didn't beat East Ridge, so that doesn't really matter. If they had played and beaten tougher schools, they would've gotten in. But I think you're probably right that Appy would beat TW or Haysi. It would all depend on which Appy team showed up....the one that played PV, or the one that played JJK.

Would it really matter if Hurley or Appy had gotten in. That won't stop Clintwood or Burton from winning the region. This just gives those schools the opportunity to get the basketballs pumped up. I really don't mean any disrespect to Hurley or Appalachia....but Appalachia is 5-5 (not impressive) and Hurley didn't beat an impressive team all year.

Any idea as to why they went for two? Bad PAT kicking results in the past? I know nothing about hurley, so i'm not saying it was dumb...just wondering.

Ahh...good call. I don't know why I was thinking JIB won that game.

1. Gate City 2. Lebanon 3/4. Powell Valley 3/4. J. J. Kelly I split PV and JJK b/c if Kelly beats Burton then they will have beaten a team that beat PV. Also if JJK wins out they will be 8-2 and will have lost their only two games by a total of 17 points (still a big if). But JJK's schedule has been weak (unlike their defense which is seemingly pretty tough). PV got off to a pretty horrible start, but they've come along since then (despite their loss to GC). JJK has the biggest chance of not winning out. If they don't, that would change my mind on how deserving they are. I left VHS out because they have left me pretty unimpressed. Yes, they performed extremely well in their game against GC, but they still lost. They got spanked by TN High (which should've happened, THS is a top team) and Lebanon (who is good, but shouldn't be drilling any playoff contender). They lost to Chillhowie and barely got by Graham (not the program it once was). If Honaker gets in this year because they win the BDD, then that should tell a lot of people that we need to go to a 6 team playoff. Honestly I think VHS, PV, and JJK all deserve spots.

Why does anyone even respond to these guys from Abingdon? They don't contribute to any intelligent conversation and only say inflamitory things to get you riled up.
