Still sticking with the traditional 12 team format this week but I'm open to switching to two separate 7-team polls for 1A & 2-4A

Good teams win, great teams cover
-
Central has looked good this year, despite losing to Ridgeview last week
Meanwhile Virginia High surprised everyone with their defense last week in shutting down Patrick Henry's rushing attack.
I think Central does eek out a win here but we should be in for a good one
-
I definitely didn't expect this kind of game from our defense but I'll happily take it
I still think PH is the top dog in 1D but I was expecting a game more like last year's shootout
-
What would y'all think about a separate 1A & 2-4A poll? Probably do Top 7 for each
-
I just added the Others Receiving Votes to the poll post
I definitely *didn't* forget that this morning

Largest margin of victory for Princeton against Bluefield since 1986
-
Last year's game was on WCYB and finished as a 66-40 barnburner victory for the Cats
PH has looked great in the first two games and VHS has clearly taken a step back but is still loaded with talent and athletes on offense
I'm taking VHS 49-42
-
Colonial Heights has been to the playoffs three times in my lifetime
I am a 27 year old man
-
That was the 2005 Division 3 state championship game when Richlands was favored against Turner Ashby and lost
-
I want to know how this game came about, there's almost no regular season cross-pollination between SWVA and RVA teams, but I'm really excited to see how the Dogs fare

Great game from our guys to bounce back after the Tazewell loss, Poku especially looked great on offense and defense
Battle has improved from last year but there is just so much that needs work there, down to the fundamentals. I think Ricker is a good coach, he's just in one of the two hardest jobs in Region 2D (along with Lee)

They're horse thieves and cattle rustlers
And they still whine about '92
-
IMHO the lopsidedness of that rivalry had more to do with a disparity of money in the programs and the size of the schools but VHS being a revolving door of coaches for 20 years definitely didn't help.
I (and many other alumni) still have mixed feelings about it ending; I wish they would at least scrimmage each other annually but that's hard since the TSSAA starts a week earlier than us

The biggest surprise of week 1 was the same as every year -- benefit game performance often has little resemblance to the regular season
-
Some call it the Battle of Bristol (which would probably work now that the V-T Game has died) but City-County Bowl has been what I've always heard it called
