I'm curious when Briscoe quit? He was at the game on Friday night, he was back at practice on Monday & Tuesday. I'm confused on that.

My nephews play for Battles JV. I talked to one of them yesterday after the game & he told me that a special coaches meeting was called at 2:00 pm and the assistant coaches were told then. A team meeting was called at 2:45 & that's when the boys were told. They were told that Coach Lee walked into the principals office at 7:30 that morning, laid his keys & his resignation letter on principals desk, turned around, and walked out without saying a word to anyone. Heard today from someone else that it wasn't exactly true that he didn't say a word to anyone. He supposedly told Hawkins to shove it where the sun don't shine before walking out. Maybe true maybe not. Rumors are flying. The only thing that we really know is that it hurt the boys a lot worse than it hurt anyone else. I agree with Thomas. He should have said something to the team before leaving.

I think in some part this is true. I think that there were some parents that wanted the new coach's head. But, trust me, the same was true with Coach Wright. If your were at the play-off game against Gate City last year, you would know. It was ridiculous how some parents acted. I think Coach Lee's reasons for leaving is alot more dimensional than just a couple of parents wanting his head.

As of yesterday, Briscoe was still there. Who knows what will happen today though. In my opinion, there was definitely some dead weight added to the coaching staff this year, but I don't believe that Briscoe is one of them. He's just got to learn to keep his temper in check. I think Coach Wright will make sure that happens from now on.

I think that Battle was finished when Justus Blaylock was hurt. The team has fallen apart since then. He was the unsung leader for sure. Battle was already in huge trouble with a 21-6 Lee lead before Harlow, Matney or Burke were injured.

I believe that Battle very much under-estimated GC. Been talking to some of the guys standing around for a while now and we all agreed that GC would be a lot tougher than everyone thought. Just didn't expect them to own the game quite as much as they did. Also heard today that a couple of Battle starters may have suffered some injuries during that game. But haven't been able to confirm it. I think that Lee is going to be tough. Battle don't travel that distance well and it's going to be cold up there. Also, Lee likes to run the ball & battle can't seem to stop it right now. I guess we'll find out in a few days.

Agree with Thomas. Watched Hubbard coach for years and blatant disrespect such as run on the field during prayer is not his mantra. I felt at the time tht it happened that JSB was just as at fault than Honaker because we didn't give Honaker the time to run on the field before we started the prayer. Just don't believe that it was staged by Honaker. All that aside. It was a great nail-biting game. one team had to lose. just hate that it was JSB.

Heard that John Battle lost 15 seniors last year & will lose 12 this year. Also heard that there's not many Juniors playing. Has anyone seen the JV team in action. What do they have coming up?

Fort Chiswell/Battle game was pretty ugly from the beginning for Battle. Fort Chiswell took out most of their 1st string after 1st quarter....which allowed Battle's starters to score 1st TD. Battle's last TD was in the last minute of the 4th quarter by their freshman quarterback, Matt Tipton, against Fort Chiswell's JV team. Battle is going to need more than a little tweaking. The only game I feel confident in a win is against PH.

Heard Fort Chiswell looked good today. Big plays and big boy. Battle might be hurting this season. Wasn't impressed. No offensive line and pass defense was bad.

The actors in Facing the Giants are from a church in Atlanta. The church funded the movie. They aren't professional actors and they weren't professionally directed. They also done Flywheel. You'll see the same actors in both movies. I agree that it was hard to watch at times. Flywheel was worse, but the message far exceeds the acting. With that being said, I see nothing wrong with the Trojans being proud of their Faith and giving God the glory. Shouldn't we all be doing that?

Battle was, simply, not on their game. They turned the ball over like crazy & their defense forgot to show up (though some tend to think that the D was just worn down. True by the end of the 3rd quarter, but what was the excuse before then?) Yes, Rogers was hurt...but, I still think that even with Rogers, Battle would have lost that game because of how they played. Balthis has really stepped up and proved that not only does he have speed, but the power to be a playmaker.

Most of the "knuckleheads" on the CMD board are not players. Doesn't take much to figure out who most of them are. Parents, fans, previous coaches, & some dummies that just want to spout about something they know nothing about. Battleftbl is correct in saying the kids are hard working & humble. Watch some gamefilm, read newspaper interviews. There's no southbound or falconman mentality playing for the Trojans. Not all posters on CMD are bad, but the idiotic wanna-be's tarnish the reputation of the awesome young men representing the Trojans.

Honestly, I think that the lean years will start after this 11th grade graduates. But, that's just my opinion. The 8th grade is small, but so were this year's 12th graders when they were in 8th grade. They will grow and get stronger. I agree with Thomas, JSB's strength & conditioning has greatly improved. They are stronger and (at half season) there are very few injuries. I've also noticed their size. Rogers and Tipton in particular. Every game, I comment on how much larger they are this year compared to previous years.
