  1. I was on the other end of the gym from where Zac went after that ball. Could not see Zac's feet. The location of the ball in the air should not matter. If Zac's feet were in bounds when he jumped for the ball, and in bounds when he landed, he should have been OK. (assuming neither Zac or the ball touched anything out of bounds)
  2. I thought those two back court calls against Graham last night were bad calls. The second one might have been one of the worst calls I have seen all year.
  3. Marlin..............good point. Had not thought about that. Dick..........no idea. Assume it could be looked up someplace. In my mind it has always been about who established position first, and who initiated the contact. If a defender establishes position, the offensive player has the chance to avoid contact, and contact is made..........charge. If not, block. (obviously severity of contact would come into play). I was not really talking about the fine line between a block and a charge. Those can be hard calls to make. Was more talking about how it seems that defenders, who have good position, will choose to step to the side and then try to block a shot.
  4. Why would the game not be moved if they both lose? Makes no sense.
  5. Bristol paper reported that Mac was 11-17 from the field, 13-15 from the line, had three 2-handed dunks, and no less than a half-dozen assists and at least 3 steals. "The hype about him is all real," Carlock Said. "He is very, very skilled."
  6. EZ.............I agree. Two young teams battled last night. Believe the reserves Scotty played the most last night were two freshman and a sophomore. Both should be scary good next year. Collier had a great game....despite getting in foul trouble early. He missed 2-3 easy put backs, but Graham had a little to do with that. The pressure rattled the freshman Dean. Especially during the 3rd quarter. Just some growing pains. Congrats to Ervin. Got his 1,000 point as a sophomore. Seems that drawing a charge is a lost art. We did take a couple of charges last night, but it seemed that many times when we had good position, we would move and try to block a shot. #52 is good, but if we would have stood our ground earlier, he would have fouled out quickly. Was surprised that we had a little problem at times with Graham's press. We had handled pressure well all year. No doubt Scotty will work on that this week. However.......at the end of the day we played a great game against a great team and get to play again.
  7. Yeah..........great atmosphere. We played some pretty good D. If not for some very sloppy passes at the start of the third quarter, think this one could have gotten ugly. Think we did a pretty good job against Martin until toward the end of the game when we did not want to foul. He had his way then. Would like to hear from some Graham fans who were at the game to see how they think we compare to Richlands.
  8. I knew they had never won a regional game, but still, it is very hard to believe.
  9. Do not think it would be that shocking. Prob not a lot of difference between GC-Union-Richlands-Graham. This time of year it normally comes down to who makes their shots, and stays out of foul trouble. I would not be surprised if any of those 4 teams win. Being a GC fan, I sure hope playing at home gives us an edge.
  10. IRISH-Fan.........Ervin is also smart as a tack. Valedictorian smart. Kid has a bright future.
  11. I have not seen Graham play. Have heard they are very disciplined. No idea if that is correct. GC's success from here on out will be greatly influenced by how well we are shooting the ball from the perimeter. If we are hitting our shots, believe we can beat anyone left. If we are not shooting well, believe any team left can beat us. We need to get back to an Arby's level of intensity. I expect Scotty will go back to pretty much a 7-man rotation.....assuming we stay out of foul trouble. Might not be a bad idea since we are an extremely young team. At times during the second half of the season we played 3 freshman, a sophomore, and a junior. Mac and Zac, thanks to their travel teams, should be able to handle the pressure. Not sure how well our younger guys will handle big game atmospheres. What I hope to see is GC coming out on fire with Mac, Zac, and Dean all shooting the ball well. (especially Dean........seems like he needs a confidence boost). We have not started many games well, but have been able to put together a good second half. This time of year we can't afford to do that. If we have an average night from the perimeter, I think it will be GC 69 Graham 60.
  12. I have not seen Martinsville either, but I can't believe they have fallen out of the top 5-6 AA teams in Virginia. Would love to think GC is a front runner, but it is hard to convince myself. We do not rebound well, sometimes it looks like defense is an after thought, and we can rely on the outside shot too much. If we turn up the defensive pressure and are knocking down our outside shots, I believe we can beat any AA team in Virginia. If our shots are not falling and we are not getting after people on defense, I believe any AA team in the playoffs could beat us. Dean's 3-point shooting seems to have really fallen off. He has not been the same since he hurt his wrist. Would love to see him heat back up.
  13. Both schools really want to beat each other, but I kind of agree with a couple of the others. The ONLY thing noteworthy that could come from this game is McClung/Slagle/Ervin/Mitchell having a serious injury that would knock them out of the rest of the playoffs. That would suck. You have to play the game. GC should get a good gate. But, I would be very tempted to play the starters a quarter and let the bench finish the game. I know.........you want to enter the Region with some momentum. Understand that. I just see nothing good that could come from this game for GC. GC wins.......they were supposed to win. Game is more important for Union. Both teams play to win and Union wins.........great confidence booster.
  14. After 3. GC 66 Lebanon 43 The most boring game ever.
  15. Larry.......very perceptive. :) GC has played 11 of 12 players. Not sure how we got this officiating crew. Thought the crew from the first game called a good game. This crew......not so much.
  16. Halftime. GC 46 Lebanon 29 GC just going through the motions.
  17. Union 54 Central 39. 5:13 left in the game. Central cold. Union with back to back 3s. Central can start the bus. Would have liked to have seen Central pull the upset. Would like another shot at them on Friday.
  18. After 3 Union 44. Central 37 Central in the bonus the rest of the game.
