From the scores I seen, it looks like all across the state that 11s and 12s and 9s and 10s were pulling off some good upsets. I wasnt for sure if I was going to like this new playoff system for single, but this year looks like its going to be a good abassador year for the new system. Each week will get more and more suspencful!

Wilson looks fast but just like Stuarts Draft they are winless against winning record teams (Stuarts Draft beat Fort Defiance 6-4 team). so hopfully Central and Union will bring back wins for the LPD and southwest va.

Thats alot of attacks on Union man. Just as i stated about the Union TW game, Union played this like a scrimage and still won. As far as Union taking Richlands to the wire and loosing a close game they did. That still dont effect how Radford and TW will play out. Yes Devin Johnson was out against Union but he played 4 or 5 series at running back in the 4th quarter and the entire game at linebacker (which is what his D1 scolarship is on) against Union which is close to the same amount of time he played against Gatecity. That goes to show you that its not about who beat who the week before, its about who shows up to play the game that you are about to play. Union dont have to worry about Richlands untill week two or three of 2012 so thats the past until then. Thom Walker dont have to worry about Union until week 10 of 2012 so thats now the past. Radford needs to be concerned with playing a sideline to sideline D that can contain bottle up running plays and making sure to be in the lead this entire game. Cain is good, but Cain vs 22 Radford players equals a lose in my book

Thomas Walker has no defense at all. Give you an example, Union won 28-16. That dont sound real convincing i know, but Union played atleast 5 different kids at running back to see what they have to offer. Union's qb even ran for 50 or more yards against TW. Its not the players fault down there in Ewing, its the fact that they only have something like 25 kids on the team and most of the offense key starters are denfese key starters. They just dont have the stamina to keep games close. As i stated earlier Cain stopped two touchdowns by running the kids down but he cant do it all on D and they dont have anyone else to help him out on that side of the ball. Union shut their run game down by spreading out linebackers and attacking the ball sideline to sideline. Radford will win this contest hands down

Clintwood played d2 for years when they were eligable student body wise to be d1. IMO that shows heart. Clintwood deserves to be D1 and play in the D1 playoffs. I wish them the best through out the new sweet 16 deal and I hope that Green wave can roll on up to Central Virginia and bring back a much deserved championship to the LPD and Southwest Virginia

The first touchdown was on a broken coverage pass play i think. Cain caught it and was gone. The last touchdown came late in the 4th quarter after i left so i cant say on it. Union spread the field on D and slowed the running game down to basicly nothing. Cain made some good defensive plays for TW though. He ran down two plays that would have been touchdowns had he not been as fast as he is. Union played 5 or 6 different running backs in that game to see what all they had and to be honest with ya, had it not been for Cody Cain stopping two or three different plays way down field it could have been a 42 to 16 game. Radford wont have any trouble with TW in my opinion.

exactly my point. Cain is the fastest kid I have seen this season but if a D can spread the field with him he cant go nowhere. Union caught him in the backfield more than he got past the line of scrimage

Cody Cain from Thomas Walker is the fastest kid I have seen. That includes Tyler Graham from Lee high. Cain is by far the fastest I have seen this season. What hurts Thomas Walker is Depth. They have like 25 kids all together is all they have. Most kids go both ways and get worn down by the end of the game. Ive not witnessed Radford but from what Ive read and heard they are no shabby team. Radford should win IMO by atleast 2 tds

Union making some of the most exciting highschool games i have ever witnessed. 4 point differences in the 4 th quarter like 4 or 5 times this season is crazy! Oh and watching Mekya Davis 23 from Union run. For those of yall who know who im talking about this kid is a true sophomore! He is amazing already at 15 years old

nope. Radford is a solid team that could beat most D2 teams in this area. They beat George Wythe if im not mistaken. If they didnt beat them it was a close game. Im not sure if its 5 or 6 bucks for playoffs

Gatecity and Grundy will be a fun game to watch. I feel like Gatecity will win without a problem but Grundy wont just lay down and take a beating. I dont know much about Wilson Memorial but looking at there schedule and Unions shedule they seem to be about even. Both of them have beat teams they should have and lost to teams that they should have. That should make for a fun game as well. Dan River and Stuarts Draft will be a down to the wire game too. Who do yall think will advance and who will go home?

IMO the best game on the D1 first round will be Castlewood vs Thomas Walker. This will probably be the closest game and be the one worth 5 bucks. The rest will be blow outs besides the Chillhowie and Rural Retreat game

That is true Burton does have speed and Haysi dont have as much speed. The game being played at Burton has alot to do with it too. The more i think about it, you are right about JIB beating slower teams. Id still love to see Haysi win though hahaha. Im not to big of a JIB fan lol

Burton has speed but I havent been impressed with them in any game this season. Clintwood and Union both beat them due to ball controll (Clintwood did it all game and Union did the second half) and that kills speed. Im not sure what style offense that Haysi is running but it seems that ball controll kills JIB. If haysi has a defense at all they can make a game out of it. Its hard to count ole Colley out durring the playoffs

Id have to say that Haysi would probably give J I Burton a good game if not even beat them IMO

If Union keeps playing the way they did against Burton, Richlands, Lee, Lebaon, and the first half of the clintwood game then yeah they can win some playoff games. If they play like they have in the other games and the last half of the Clintwood game then they will lose first round
