don't know about "y'all", but I would rather look fugly and play some good football than to look awesome and play some fugly football, i'm just sayin! I went to watch Salem and Northside a few years back and the Vikings were pathetic (or Salem was good or both), it's good to see the SIDE make a name for themselves of late!!! Good luck your season if there are any vikes fans out there!!!

Haven't really kept up with it hardcore... but i do know in the last 10 yrs or so Honaker's JV and 8th grade teams have been very competitive with Richlands and when those players have reached the varsity level Richlands is stronger, faster, and smarter on the field (the score for a while now proves that). I attribute this to the desire of the boys (or girl..just to be politically correct) that the Richlands coaches, etc put into those players. I know they have approx 40-50 guys in the weightroom in the off season and Honaker averages idk 10 or so (give or take a few) ... that really says alot right there about the desire to want to be a great football team and not just a good football team. So now after the ramble here's the point... JV and 8th grade team scores don't mean all that much IMO, it's what they learn from those games that makes them better in long run and also I think it gives those boys get confidence and that's a good thing to take from it!!! But congrats to the Abingdon JV, take the W's where ya can get em!!!!

I think Hurley will be ok! Hard to measure this game up with the talent, Alot of emotions and side-stories with the transfers and stuff. Grundy just handled it better this time, maybe they had a little more to play for. Also says alot for the Grundy D not allowing an offensive touchdown, must be pretty solid because I still think Hurley has talent and a dang good offense, they will improve every week! I would like to have heard the halftime speech in the Grundy locker room... sounds like somebody fired em up cause they came out with some intensity after halftime. Like someone said earlier on this forum... game over... next week! That's what Hurley needs to focus on now! THEY WILL BE FINE!

Yeah man, I think every team in the BDD is about even and coulld beat the others any given night! Been a while since that's happened! Props to the Hurley fans givin Grundy credit, love seein that! By the time Honaker gets Hurley, Grundy, and Haysi, I think all the teams will be much improved and clicking on all cylinders! Gonna be a toss up by that point who wins the district!

At the Honaker/Lebanon game someone had the train horn that made gate city's horn sound like one of the small sqeaky air horns... was that lebanon fans or honaker fans... i never did find out and kinda forgot about it ..... and it kinda blew for both teams... wasn't sure where that came from!!!??? btw .. good luck to you guys down at union!

Last year Coeburn came over to Honaker and played a heck of a game, back and forth all night long ... I think the final was HHS- 36 to 33, very exciting game. seen Eastside play?... opinions on what to look for in this game? How is their defense/ run vs pass?

Used to be Honaker and Lebanon was a huge rivalry but it does seem because the auto-bid from the district champ and the old playoff system that Haysi and Honaker have had the stronger rivalry recently(that game meant more). I've came to dislike the trip to Haysi, it seems there is always some kind of controversy over there, but I love it at the same time!!! Weird how that works!!!!

I know it happened at least twice last year because they were gonna beat Honaker at the cliff and win the district last year and that didn't work out so well either.. 40-6 i think!! But Hurley does have a good team again and it's a new year, they are a real threat to win the district again. If Grundy can win this game it could really shake up the BDD even more IMO. I'm not a huge fan of smack talk before the kickoff, I just don't like the taste of feet, but I do have to admit it DOES make the forums alot more interesting! May be deceiving but I saw Lebanon play and I was shocked they beat Grundy like they did, so I gotta give the edge to Hurley on breaking the losing streak 21-16. Who knows, good luck to both of YA'LL ...

Union can pick the score they want IMO ... Although Lebanon did beat Grundy worse than I though they would. Honaker took it to Lebanon in the second half, they didn't seem to be as conditioned as the Pioneers usually are, but they do have the receiver (#23) who is a good receiver and a good athlete, if the QB can get time to get it to him ... IMO this Lebanon team is sub-par compared to Lebanon teams we are used to.... Hope the Russell Co. boys can give em a game tho...
