Grundy10 10 Report Share Posted February 22, 2005 They must be pretty effective with it to beat Clintwood and Powell Valley. Both of those teams should have had their way with Pound!

cityofRaven 2,457 Author Report Share Posted February 23, 2005 yeah just got home great atmosphere tonight, poud had no chance as valley pulled out to a 43-9 lead at half, final 83-27, colley took over in the second game to combat for bad free-throw shooting by the tigers, final in that one 53-
babyblue 10 Report Share Posted February 23, 2005 They wasn't effective last night.. TV beat them by 50!! They just couldn't handle Twin Valleys pressure defense. Whats sad it probably coulda been worse!!
LegendatLegion 109 Report Share Posted February 25, 2005 Hey folks! long time no see! Region D update. Twin Springs pulls out the victory and the state berth with a 64-57 victory over Twin valley at Clintwood. The titans go for their 2nd straight Region D title tomorrow night against the winner of tonight's second game between GC (21-4) and Haysi (18-7). Congrats to Twin valley on a good season, and from what i hear, a very young team, probably the favorites in Region D next year. For Twin Springs: 6'9" Tyler Webb led the way with 25 points, and 6'6" Chuck Lindholm had 20, 6'4" Mark Dockery poured in 12.(as you can see they are large in stature) For Twin valley: Nick Harman had 19, Alex Vandyke had 16, and Lester had 10. LegendatLegion 109 Report Share Posted February 25, 2005 GC takes the halftime lead 32-31 on a Jesse McMurray three pointer at the buzzer. he has 14 points. Jake Colley is having a good half for the Haysi tigers. He also has 14 points. GC has used 10-12 people in the first half as usual and Haysi has 3 guys with three fouls, and it may be a factor later in the game.

LegendatLegion 109 Report Share Posted February 25, 2005 GC is trying hard to give this one back they are 2-7 from the line in the last minute, the score is GC 63-62 with 20:6 to go.
LegendatLegion 109 Report Share Posted February 25, 2005 GC's Kilgore hit two freethrows with 14 to go and Haysi missed three threes (got the rebound everytime?) and GC wins it 65-62. Looks like an all Scott County Region D final tomorrow night. Great game! Would have loved to see both of these games. Congrats to Haysi on a good year, and they are a scrappy bunch. Colley is the real deal. He got fatigued at the end.
LegendatLegion 109 Report Share Posted February 25, 2005 Colley had 25 for Haysi and Jesse McMurray had 27 for GC. Add that to what the Twin Springs boys and TV boys did the good players in Region D did their thing tonight.
cityofRaven 2,457 Author Report Share Posted February 25, 2005 Two great games from Clintwood tonight. the first i have got to see of Gate City and they are pretty good, Colley caried the tigers as always Shot of the year goes to Ryan Jones late in the 2nd half, comes off a Colley screen and hits a 3 one handed damn good shot if you seen it, close second goes to the guard from GC he mess poor old Viers up on a baseline move also late in the 2nd half And the panthers had them on the ropes eariler and couldnt hold the titans off, good job panthers on a great year
89bluedevil 10 Report Share Posted February 27, 2005 The Kingsport Times website has Gate City losing to Twin Springs in the Region D finals. However, there is a quote from the GC coach that says they have a week to prepare for their next opponent. Where do they go from here? I thought they would be finished with a loss.
